Apr 26, 2014: I paid 100% upfront in early Oct 2013 because I was offered a discount and encouraged to pay before price increases from the archdiocese. I was promised that the etching would be completed in early December 2013 and at the latest by Christmas. I am still waiting... The email address on the owner's business card bounces back as undeliverable. I have called several times. They say it's the weather, they're busy, they have a backup and they send nice postcards. A sales rep, named Jerry came to our house to take our order to have the end year put on my mother-in-laws stone. This was November 2017. We paid over $800 to engrave 4 numbers plus $95 to the cemetery. Both checks were cashed at that time. It is now Sept 2018 and still the numbers are nit engraved. The WORST company ever. Lifestone and its subsidiary companies are fradulant. My sister and I paid in full 16 months ago and our father's headstone was not engraved. They stated excuses like cold and rainy weather, and an older gentleman who worked slowly. That was for 2 springs, 2 autumns, 2 winters, and 2 summers. These guys also called me after seeing my Dad's obituary. That's how they drum up business. Reminiscent of vultures. This company did make my family's original marker, which was fine. But now (6 years later) they pressured me to buy services for lifting ($139) and cleaning ($137), and the engraving cost was outrageous. They wanted $389 just for adding the year of death (4 digits) . I decided NOT to go with them (now called "Lifestone by Stefan") after I saw that BBB gives them an F. Zion Memorials also contacted me (by mail) and they charge $13 per letter (or number) with a minimum charge of $145, which is still much more reasonable, but they never called me back. I recommend asking a funeral director for reputable Memorial firms. Mine gave me Griffith and Cullis as suggestions. Good luck! read more

To state briefly, this company represents itself as a reputable organization while doing little or nothing to satify the consumer. My beloved father passed away in June of 2014. For over one year, I have tried NUMEROUS times to contact this company for the status of my dad's grave marker. Each time, I was met with a phone answering service....never once spoke to a representative of the company. The phone representatives were rude and offered no answers. After almost one year, I finally spoke with a phone representative who took my "threat" of seeking legal action seriously. I then received a phone call from a representative from Stefan's stating that my dad's stone was delayed due to weather, stone cutting and a mass of other lies. The representative of the company who met with me upon my initial contact had NO problem taking my check that would PAY IN FULL for my dad's headstone. That was the LAST personal contact made with anyone from the company. I was told that my dad's stone would be laid within a few weeks - this did not happen. After numerous emails, each of which I have saved , I was told that the stone would be laid and we would be notified of the date so that we could be present. Again, a lie. My dad's stone was laid over ONE year after his passing. The legal action being taken against this company is long over due. Taking advantage of people during the most difficult time of their lives is not only disgraceful business policy but horrific and appaling. We are still waiting for a tombstone to be delivered for my late father-in-law from 8/24/2013. My wife and mother-in-law have contacted this company numerous times and have only been met with excuses and false delivery dates. I called this company today and was informed that the owner had contacted my mother-in-law today about delivery dates. Of course when my mother-in-law was asked about this she said she had not been contacted. I have submitted a complaint with the BBB regarding the non delivery of service by this company. Similar to the other reviews on here, the headstone for my father was paid in full over a YEAR AND A HALF ago. They claimed that because of the winter, they could not install the headstone, and then that they claim to have a thorough Quality Service check, and when the stone came in, it wasn't up to their standard. My Uncle died in 2012 - he still lies in an unmarked grave. Lifestone not only cashed the check but the amount owed to Arlington was accidentally sent to them. So not only the $750.00 that was for the headstone is gone also the $385.00 that was meant for Arlington is gone. A few years back I was able to get a hold of them (typically not). The women did recognize and admitted to these checks being cashed. I was promised it would be cleared up, it never was! How long does it take to enter 2016? There is no excuse for this! Everything was paid for at the purchase in 2008 when my mother-in-law passed away. My mother passed away September 2013. We paid this company $800 just to put my mother's name on the stone that was already at the cemetery for my father. I called them upset at Easter when I went to the cemetery and the work was not done yet. The 1st year anniversary came and went and still the work wasn't done. By November I was so upset. I called crying that they were treating my mother like a pauper lying in an unmarked grave. I was told the work would be done that weekend. Weekend came and went. The work was still not done. I finally called and told them I was going to call the Upper Darby Police because they basically stole our money from us. The work was finally done. My father died in Feb 2014. In early March my mother, now 90, was approached by this company with a package deal in a sales presentation saying that they did business with my mother's church and would handle everything. I was present for the slick sales pitch. My mother was required to pay in full for services $2365.50, then was surprisingly billed later in March 2014 for a "pad" for the stone for $200. (Her church would have charged only $75). After several phone calls and email complaints since October, this company has yet to keep its initial promise to have the job done by end of August, more than enough time for the simple grave stone that my mother ordered. The company avoids answering questions with specifics. I learned from the St. Aloysius Church rector that Lifestone had not secured permits to set the pad or the stone as of early November 2014. As my mother found out too late, the church never recommends this company. As I found out, neither does the funeral director we hired. read more

My mother has been waiting 22 months for a simple headstone she paid for in full when ordered it on April 17, 2015. Greg Stefan, Jr. contacted her a week after her husband died and came to her home to sell her the stone. Calls and letters are not answered. Most times calls are answered by an answering service. Greg Stefan Jr. lied to our faces when we confronted him at his Upper Darby office by showing us a wrapped stone out back and telling us it was the one she ordered. HORRIBLE!!! There should be a negative "star" category. They are so much worse than 1 star. They required payment in full up front, made a mistake on my father's tombstone, and after almost 6 years, numerous meetings and many broken promises, Dad's stone still isn't right. They will be very soft spoken and manipulative. They try to steer the conversation in a direction that throws you off your trend of thought. They play dumber and dumber as time passes. They will "yes" you to death, hoping you will simply give up, especially if they're dealing with the elderly. They have made fools of my family repeatedly in regard to the same issue. My mother cries every time the topic is brought up. Yesterday (8/10/15) I told the owner that their reputation is horrible and asked if he was embarrassed. He ignored the question. I paid in full on Nov 20th 2014 and now it is nov 5th 2015 and the grave marker is still not installed.I called in June to see when the marker would be installed. They told me it would be installed in July.I go up to the cemetery at the end of July to see if they installed the marker,Nope it was not installed, so i call them again and this time they said that they were having problem with the designed and at the cemetery where my parents are buried at has problem with the grounds and the markers wash away total BS, because there are so many marker at that cemetery that have not washed away. Don't know why they did not tell me that when i called the first time.. They told me it would be in sometime in sept. I go up there at the end of sept to see if they installed it. Nope still not installed.I keep calling and they say someone will get back to you with 24 to 48 hours no has called. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! Greg Stefan Sr. and Greg Stefan Jr. are scam artists! My mom passed away in May 2015. They immediately contacted us and we set up a meeting with them at our house. We paid for the headstone in full and the check was cashed the NEXT DAY. It is now June 2016 and still no headstone. The company uses an answering service who "relays the message", but they never call back. He has told us it would be ready in October 2015, then by Christmas 2015, then in 5 weeks, then in 5 more weeks, then GUARANTEED by May 1st. Surprise, surprise, it wasn't there May 1st. When I finally got a hold of Mr. Stefan on the phone, he tried so hard to gain sympathy from me telling me about his family life. We ended that conversation with him promising for the stone to be installed on May 27th. He also promised to send me an e-mail so that I had it documented that the stone would be there. Never received the e-mail and now on June 1st there is still no headstone. I contacted our local newspaper yesterday with all of the details for a story. I have also filed a complaint with the attorney general's office. This company has an F rating with the better business bureau and was sued by the state on Pennsylvania in November 2015. Greg Stefan of Lifestone by Stefan met multiple times with my brother-in-law, my sisters and I to discuss a tombstone for our family plot. My sister had just died young in April of 2014 of lung cancer and my brother-in-law wanted the best stone for Roe. It was a tough time. Shortly after her death my brother-in-law had a stroke from all of the stress. On June 28, 2014 my 73 year old brother-in-law wrote a check for $19,196. dollars to Lifestones by Stefan for a tombstone for his wife. On that same day Greg cashed the check. That he could do just fine. At that time he said the stone may be in before the coming winter but it would depend on how quickly the cold began. The stone was to be set at Calvary cemetery at our family plot. I have reached out to Greg or his office at least 20 different times over the past year. There is still no stone on our plot. My brother-in-law asks everyday if the stone is there yet. A few weeks ago Greg reached out to me to say the there was some damage to where our plot is and he worked with Stonemor who is responsible for Calvery and asked that they repair the plot so he can deliver the stone. A few weeks later he emailed me to say that no one had contacted him to say that it was fixed and could I reach out to find out why the delay. When I contacted Calvery they said they had no record that there was a problem. Justin from Stonemor went out to the site and said that they would fix the stone behind our plot since it was encroaching onto our plot. He said that our plot was fine. I reached out to Greg again to say that everything was fine and Stonemor found nothing wrong with our plot. Greg sent me picture of what was wrong with our plot. I don't work in a cemetery so that information meant nothing to me. I asked him why as a businessman he didn't go into the office after he took the pictures and discuss the situation so this could be resolved. He never responded. Someone from his office sent me an email to say that the stone would be at risk if they were to deliver it. I emailed both of these businessman to say if they didn't get this resolved and I didn't have a delivery date by the end of business today I would go to the media. I receive an email from Greg late today that stated he would deliver the stone 10/2 regardless of the condition of the plot. That is unacceptable. This is a large amount of money and time we have spent waiting for this stone for our sister/wife. Don't do any business with Lifestones. read more
