Francis funeral home looks okay inside and out as far as cosmetics. Beware of the scam they use however.. They will sit you in a room while your grieving and they will go over their packages which are roughly in the ball park of $10200$. They will hand u you all kinds of papers with different things they offer. They will slide a paper to you and say write who u are to the decease.. when u put your name and who you are they will rush to get that paper back in their hands... After you leave without making a decision yet. Francis will go to the hospital and pick up the body using the paper u filled out without calling u. They then will hold the body hostage and make u pay 735$ for another funeral home to pick up the body..310$ for them picking up the body and 4 somthing for the chat they had with you.. it a great scam and it shows blk business in a bad light.. I can not believe a business that looks like it do pretty well would stoop to such illmoral levels for a quick buck.. I lost my husband a week ago. I arranged his service to be at one of Francis locations. I stated to funeral director that this service had to be private because of extenuating circumstances. I was assured that it would be an that by law no one could change what ever I requested as I am the wife.. I trusted the director and believed her to seem genuine. However, at 11th hour I was told that there was a issue with program. I was also informed that I had to cut my husband's hair if I wanted his hair cut for service. I was livid swollen with emotions. I called an lawyer, I was advised to ask to speak with the owner. I did as instructed. The woman came back into palor and said that " you don't have to pay anything we will have his hair cut." My second attempt at speaking to the owner was denied. On actual funeral day the flowers were wilted and the banners were wrong, There was no security at all! I entered with less than 20 people in my family. When exiting the service Iwas surprised to see a hallway full of strangers. As me and my family tried to exit. There was no one around to assist with getting us safely to the car. I was bombarded by my in laws. I had to protect myself, my pregnant daughter and my grandson from and angry mob! We got to the rented limo our 73 year old driver was seated after being threatened by the mob ringleader . Because of this lack of service detailing, security, and professionalism, my pregnant daughter sustained facial contusion, and a fractured pelvis, my 14yr old grandson sustained bruising and I also was attacked. I have spent plenty $$$ with this company over the years! I am ashamed of the level of integrity, respect and professionalism that I encountered. I want to warn anyone that may be looking for a place to say goodbye to a loved one! Go somewhere else these folks were about nothing but the money. Safety and order and organization are main components to funeral services process. This business is not equipped to handle large crowds or security. The men that were there were seniors and unable to manage the situation. I called again after assault to speak with owner and to date none of my issues have been addressed. Took over 2 weeks to get my mother's ashes back, including a week after she'd been cremated. Meanwhile, they were lying, claiming they were waiting on the doctor, or the certificate, or.... whatever bs came to the top of their head at the moment. 16 f&@$ing days, and you know the only time they picked up the phone was to call and set up a time for me to come down there to tell them what I wanted, and PAY THEM? That's all they care about. They didn't call to let me know when they were picking up the body, as promised. They just showed up. They didn't call with any updates, though they promised to do so after the first time they blamed the delay on the doc. Not until I finally had to get ignorant with them did they get it together. 2 hours after that call they had her ashes ready. The accompanying paperwork showed she'd been cremated 6 days earlier!! Take your loved ones somewhere where you and them will be respected. Francis isn't the place. read more

Beware of Francis Funeral Home at 5201 Whitby Avenue in Philadelphia. My father requested a direct cremation like his brother had at the same facility. We told the funeral representative that we wanted a flash viewing for family. There is no mention of a limit of people on the price list she passed out. Once my stepmom had signed and paid for the services, the representative then told us only five people would be allowed to view my dad. We told her about 15-20 people would be passing through. She was well aware what we had requested and failed to disclose the new policy prior to my stepmom signing the contract and paying for the services. The viewing is tomorrow. Obviously, there's no remedy available for those who want to say goodbye to my dad. They simply won't be able to. They do not disclose policies before they take payment. You will be deliberately mislead so make sure they tell you exactly any limits before you sign and pay. read more

This funeral home takes the cake on Royal screw ups, (besides the one that mixed the caskets up in which they had a part in it as well). Not only did they get my grandmothers outfit wrong, the limos wrong, and her hair wrong, they never got in contact with the church to tell them the day and time. My grandmother sat in a parking lot until another church opened their doors up for her. It is understood that sometimes the family sits down with the church, especially if it is their home church but this was not the case. Their director Samantha told our ENTIRE immediate family on several occasions that she would take care of it. Furthermore, if they would have even contacted the church to let them know the drivers were on their way, they would have still caught their mistake. Even more, when we went down there to resolve the issue, they originally told us the owner was not in, but once we got upset and angry he came out. Not only did they BILL us for the church but they did not apologize either. FRANCIS had the nerve to say that there was no way to contact the church and tell them the day and time because they didn't know. What funeral home does not know the day and time of the funeral they are facilitating? DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES, IF YOU WISH FOR YOUR LOVED ONES TO BE SENT OFF WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY. read more
