I was beyond excited to find a good baby and maternity consignment store in Frederick! The store…read morecan be hard to spot since it's in a re-appropriated house instead of the usual storefront but we found it with the help of GPS (hint- look for the big silver factory or whatever it is). It could just be beginner's luck but I found exactly what I was looking for! I bought a mint condition wool peacoat, light fall sweater, and yoga pants for myself. For baby, I scored NIB Sperrys for $12 that are 3 times that price at Nordstrom or J Crew. The store is very well organized- the selection starts on your left with the maternity corner, followed by newborn clothing progressing up to toddler sizes. Head upstairs for big kid sizes and even a "juniors corner" where slimmer moms could easily find something for themselves as well. During my visit this week, Lucy's had plenty of Halloween costumes and even a few Christmas outfits ranging from red and green sleepers to fancy schmancy dresses and suits. I will definitely be checking back for Baby's first Christmas outfit! One drawback is that Lucy's does not have a fitting room or even mirrors around so you'll do better if you have an idea of what size you are in various maternity brands before going over. To me, the low prices and good condition made up for that, as well as the 7 day exchange policy (as long as you leave the store tag on). The staff is friendly and cheerful as well- ask them any questions you have!

Extremely rude customer service at the store. I came in to exchange a baby item with a valid gift…read morereceipt and was unexpectedly berated by the owner about how the item wasn't in its original box. She reiterated multiple times that I "understand what this means for the business," which felt unnecessarily intense and confrontational. I had no prior knowledge of any box, as the item was given to me already gift-wrapped. I calmly explained this, but was still made to repeat that I "understand" -- over and over -- in a way that felt accusatory and frankly demeaning. I understand that small businesses have return policies, and I respected that -- I came with a valid gift receipt and handled the interaction politely. The issue wasn't the policy, it was the way I was treated. I accepted the store credit, but I left the store with a strong impression of how unpleasant the owner's behavior was. This feedback is not about the outcome -- it's about how a customer, especially a new mother, should never be spoken to that way. I hope future interactions are handled with more empathy and professionalism.
