However, it's sad to say that their customer service has really gone downhill. The last couple times I have been in to the Grandview location. The staff has been extremely rude and unwelcoming. Just today, I went in there this morning to get a dress for my daughter's birthday party this weekend. The woman could have cared less that I was in the store. She seemed irritated that I was asking questions about some of the dresses that were being shown on the mannequins. This type of customer service does not make me want to shop at the store. It's disappointing. Also, their sizes have gotten smaller. I feel as the years have gone on. I've always been pretty true to size, a large normally always fits. But I feel like the largest keep getting smaller. I'm still happy to go in there and buy HomeGoods because they are very well bought and very good quality. But, when I'm treated with such rudeness, it makes me not want to go into the store.

When I was in the outdoor industry and needed new gear, STP was one of the first websites I'd check for gear. Even when my wife was an employee at a competing outdoor retailer (where I got a discount) I was still shopping online at STP. When I found out they were building a brick and mortar store here in Columbus I was beyond thrilled! As it is part of the TJX companies it still means that the store is a gamble when it comes to brands and sizes found. However, it makes a great starting point as you can easily search their site to see if there are other sizes, colors, etc available. Don't have a tiny pocket computer (aka a smart phone)? There's no need to fret! In store they even have a kiosk where you can search their online stock. My only real dislike of the physical store is that as of right now they do not accept the countless coupons that come to my email address. This may change soon as an employee recently told me that they would start honoring them. Until then, I will still order the bulk of my purchases from the website so I can use the frequent STP coupons. With the store so close it's super easy to return to the store with no hassle. This is extremely helpful when ordering shoes online as some outdoor brands use variations of European sizing that allow for greater fit specification. Recently I ordered two pairs of a boot to see if they would work for my job. Having a low volume super narrow foot they did not but, with the painless returns it was no problem. I even lucked out and found the perfect pair in store!

They showed me where the casual work attire was and everything else. The second thing I would like to give them props for is giving me 20% off since my coupon was $10 off and they wanted to be extra nice to impress me for my first experience in the store. Although it was a bit of a drive for me, I don't foresee coming back often since I like stores that are in closer proximity to where I live. During that entire time, not one employee acknowledged us or offered help while we searched for sizes and colors. At checkout, things got worse. After I paid in cash, the cashier handed me my bills and change all in one hand and said, "We don't have any pennies, is that okay?" She never explained what I was agreeing to. I couldn't tell if I was given more or less than expected because everything was handed to me at once, and she was very vague. When I asked for clarification, she eventually said they couldn't give me the exact change because "they don't make pennies anymore." That explanation made no sense. Whether or not pennies are still being produced has nothing to do with a current transaction--there are still plenty in circulation. The issue wasn't the penny--it was the assumption. She didn't ask if I had exact change, didn't ask if I had pennies, and didn't explain upfront that I was being shorted. She just decided it was acceptable. I remained calm, polite, and spoke in a softer tone than usual because I didn't want to make a scene. But I did explain that it's rude to assume a customer doesn't want their change, no matter how small the amount. Another employee overheard and asked what was going on. The cashier responded, "She's complaining because I didn't have one penny." That completely misrepresented the situation. The second employee replied, "Well, they don't make them anymore, so what do you want us to do?"--which only made things worse. I even pointed out that I had pennies on me, reinforcing that this wasn't the customer's problem to solve. If anything, a business should round in favor of the customer--not against them. The cashier argued that giving me more would make her drawer short, which again shows a lack of understanding of basic customer service. At one point, the second employee disengaged entirely and turned away with a smirk, which was incredibly unprofessional. Eventually, a third employee (who appeared to be a manager) stepped in and said, "Just give her a nickel"--which is exactly what I suggested from the beginning. At that point, it wasn't even about the money anymore--it was about how the situation was handled from start to finish. Also worth noting: if the situation were reversed and I was short a penny, I highly doubt they would have said, "That's fine, they don't make them anymore." I would have been expected to come up with the difference. We left without taking the nickel, but the experience left a lasting impression. For the prices they charge ($45 for shorts, $35 for a tank top), I expect far better service and professionalism. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING. Much rather spend my money at Lululemon and get SUPERB service.

On this most recent trip, I went looking for one thing - some akin sweat pants - to wear over my yoga pants on cold days. I have a couple pairs already - Under Armour and Nike, but wanted something more yoga-like. They didn't have a huge selection - which I figured would be the case. They carry certain types of clothes with a few color choices. I found a pair of maroon athletic pants with a little glam trim. They were baggy in the thighs, more tapered in the calf, banded at the ankle, with a drawstring waist. For $10, I really couldn't go wrong. They had a pair in black, but I already have 2 pairs of black sweats. I grabbed a size that usually fits and moved one. I also needed socks and remembered buying some here before. They had a few to pick from at a decent price so I grabbed a packet so I could throw out some pairs at home that showed too much wear. Having come from Dollar Tree and finding they were out of every item I needed (all too recurring situation), I thought I would see if they had any of the things I wanted. Sure enough, they had the Hawaiin Punch water mix ins for a dollar. In the flavors I wanted, so I picked them up and headed for the register. For a change, there was no one in line and 2 young clerks who knew what they were doing and rang me up quickly. More often than not, there is a line and at one clerk on slow motion warp speed. The others are nice and proficient. The pants ended up fitting fine - so no need to return. I have had to return/exchange things in the past and doing so have never been a hassle - just do it quickly and have the receipt!
