A couple months ago we noticed an increase in water usage. LaGuardo suggested we check for a leak…read more We did and found a leak in the system between the line connection at the road and the hub a couple hundred feet into the property. We remedied this leak by installing a new line from the hub to the line connection at the street and asked LaGuardo for a rebate on the excess water charges which they gave us. A couple of weeks later, a new leak occurred in the system at the hub (not where we made the connection) and we repaired that by replacing the faulty part. When we asked for a reduction in the exorbitant $100 and $200 bills, we were told their policy is to grant rebates for leaks once in a 12 month period. So because we had the bad luck to have two weak spots in our water lines at or about the same time, in addition to the expense of repairing the water leaks, we are out over $150 for water which we never used and was returned to the underground water source Laguardo taps and sells to us. This policy makes no sense and is extremely harsh under the circumstances described above.

LUD is extremely expensive considering a fair amount of their customers are on septic systems…read more Another issue with LUD is they had the ability to get codes changed in order for them to build a treatment center directly over the newly discovered wells. This treatment center is on a main road which has very few commercial developments and certainly no industrial developments. The WORST issue with LUD is the water they sell to the consumer. The water they sell now longer comes from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers---water from the Corp is not FREE! They have now started pumping from the wells. I understand there where 2 pumps to start production. I do not know how many they are running now. These wells and the water they produce are surrounded by LIMESTONE. And the catch is......IT's FREE to LUD as far as I know. I have had several neighbors complain that their well water will turn muddy or contain dirt sediment which clogs their replaceable filter or at worst burns up their pump. They state 8 -9.5 hardness on their website. I recently had only my water tested by an independent service who was at my home to check the water. My water hardness checked out to be between 13.5-14!! Is there any doubt why I'm a professional at changing out rubber type washer and spring sets on my faucets? This extremely hard water has caused many early failures between the 1st and 2nd year of hot water heater usage. My hot water heaters ( HIgh Quality Commercial Brand Heaters) fail like they are going out of style. I have replaced countless numbers of shower valves and power flush toilet units. Once you drain the water from the tanks, it still requires 2 people to move and load due to the amount of mineral that are in the bottom and the scales on the side of the tank. The hard water particulates adhere to everything. My biggest fear has already come true twice. The minerals react with my copper pipe(my house was pre-pex) and start to form pinhole leaks formed by the chemical reactions/ particular deposits/mineral deposits/scale. I hope at this stage since the house is about 12 years old, that the damage is isolated and not something i will deal with for the rest of my life. They say on their updates they are "working on it" and that those with water softeners should have their units checked and possible reprogrammed. Well, Today is April 24. I had my water tested last evening from 8-10pm on the 23......remember my number 13.5-14! Most all of those who live in the area that is only serviced by LUD are well aware of the nasty, gritty feeling you get after you have washed your dishes or your body! All commodes develop a 1" mineral ring around the water line. CLR will not remove it. I have to drain my toilets with a cup, since I have the power flush system, I cannot flush and then shut of the water. This would prevent the needed pressure for the power flush to operate. I then must take a pumas type stick sander and sand the ring off, trying to not scratch the bowl. i have tried every other industrial cleaner that can be sold to the public. I recently purchase some Boat Hull Cleaner to use on my shower floor. The fiberglass shower has another leaky shower valve that is causing the floor of the fiberglass shower to turn dark gray. No cleaners or no brushes I've used have ever worked. I hope to try the Boat Hull Cleaner tomorrow. So my 1 Question to the Stewart Family is: Why would you wait until after production and after you've started sending this crap that you call water out to the customers to start "working" on a hard water solution. You had to know the hardness of the water many many months before you ever started to build the building over the well sites.? In this area of Coles Ferry PIke, Lebanon, TN, we have but one choice for our water now. Previously, I could have had my own well dug for 7-8 thousand dollars. If I do this now, there is no way to be sure that I will not pump up dirty water caused by the size of their double pump system. At this point, All I feel I can do is install a whole house system to filter as much as the particulate matter and the minerals out of my house before I am met by more failing appliances, copper lines, and hot water heaters. It has to stop and I remain unconvinced that LUD is doing "all they can." If so, maybe they need to switch back to Old Hickory Lake water as before until they can provide a product worth selling. I would switch to Lebanon Utility District City Water in a minute. Unfortunately, I'm barely outside the City Limits at this time. It is very unfortunate that I had to write this review. Unfortunately, unless you've gone by the office to check water quality, you have no idea what you are drinking. The Stewart's are good people. God fearing and God loving. I'm not sure how this situation arose, but I am sick and tired of the maintenance and repairs related to poor/unusable water they provide. William Donnell
