After being recommended this pool by a lifeguard at Hotchkiss down the street, we decided to give…read moreit a try, and honestly, I am SO glad we did! What started as a spontaneous decision to get in the car ( because Hotchkiss was not it ) and try somewhere else has turned into us coming here almost every day.
We absolutely love this pool! It is clean, well maintained, and you can tell the staff actually takes pride in keeping the facility nice. The lifeguards are probably one of my favorite parts. They are always in good spirits, hilarious, friendly, and genuinely seem to enjoy being there. During their breaks, you will often see them cleaning the pool, picking things up, or making sure everything is in order. It really makes a difference when you can see the staff actively caring about the space.
There are pool noodles available for use or you can bring your own. ( nothing can be blow up for safety ) One thing I especially love about this pool is the filtration system that runs around the perimeter. It creates a shallow ledge around the pool that you can actually sit on. As a parent, this is AMAZING. I can sit comfortably on the ledge while my kids play right in front of me instead of constantly having to stand or sit on the pool deck. There are also benches throughout the area, and while there are not a ton of chairs, there are definitely more than we have seen at some other city pools. We usually just bring our own chairs anyway.
The pool has a splash pad area for the kids, which is a nice addition. I will say the chlorine smell and concentration in that area can be pretty strong, so with our eight month old, we usually avoid spending much time there. That is really more of a personal preference than a complaint because I completely understand the need to keep a splash pad properly sanitized.
I also really appreciate that the pool is accessible. There is a ramp for entering the pool as well as traditional steps, which makes it much easier for people with different mobility needs to enjoy the pool.
The deep end is only open when a lifeguard is stationed over there, but they do a great job rotating and making sure it is available frequently. They also seem very responsive when people are interested in using the deep end. The deepest part of the pool is six feet, which is plenty for us.
They do have a 30 minute break from 4:30 to 5:00, and during that time everyone has to leave the facility. However, I actually appreciate how they handle this. If you have chairs, bags, or your kids' things set up, you are allowed to leave them inside. They close and lock the doors, so your belongings are safe while you step out. There is also a playground right around the corner, and an ice cream truck conveniently seems to know exactly when the pool break happens and is usually parked right in front of the entrance.
The bathrooms are also extremely clean, which deserves its own mention because that is not something you can always say about public pools.
There is limited shade, with one large umbrella in the corner near the splash pad, so I definitely recommend bringing your own umbrella or shade tent if you need more protection from the sun.
Overall, we have had such a positive experience here. It is clean, comfortable, well maintained, family friendly, and the staff genuinely seems to care about the people who come here. It is also rarely overly crowded, which makes it so much more enjoyable when you are trying to let your kids actually have fun instead of constantly worrying about bumping into someone.
Funny enough, we only found this pool because someone at another pool suggested it to us, and I am honestly thankful they did. We will definitely keep coming back!
