Time to paid the bill and he quoted me over 200.00. I told the technician that I was quoted 159.00. He said because it was a front loader it was 189.00 plus tax. I feel that I was taken advantage of because I am a women and a senior citizen. I will never call or do business with Marc's appliances again. I don't like being cheated.

My experience was classic bait and switch. Ordered a 48" range online at an excellent (but not…read moreunique) price, website claimed it was in stock and that I would need to pick it up at their West Hartford warehouse. Got a confirmation E-mail stating order would be "processed once payment was confirmed" (odd, since CC payments are generally automated these days). Next day, I got what appeared to be an automated E-mail (no name or phone number, DoNotReply sender) stating that their "policy" was that I would need to come to their store in person to confirm identity & credit card, and that the item was a special order (not in stock after all, I guess!). Since it's a 4-hour drive each way, going there twice defeats the purpose of an online order... When I called to try to clear things up, "Jack" told me the item was not in stock and that there appeared to be a pricing error (more alarm bells start up in my head). After consulting with his manager, he did call me back, to tell me that the part number is not on the Kitchenaid site, so they can't even order it, and they don't have it in stock. I just went back on their site, and they still list that exact part number listed (KFID948SJP), but at a much, much higher price, of course. When I expressed my displeasure and asked to speak to a manger, it went to voice mail. The only excuse offered was "the website is pretty automated". I get that mistakes happen, but reputable stores make some effort to make it right with the customer. A retail store is responsible for their advertised pricing.

How often do you need to find an appliance repair person, generally not very. So u have a bad…read moreexperience, your upset and now determine that this is a 1 star business off that one most likely unfortunate experience. Its a shame for both parties you the customer and the business. Lets say there are 4 techs doing 5 calls a day. That's over 5k calls a year, of course repeat customers, repair trips after diag. So maybe 2500 new customers a year (× 25yrs) Most people don't care or think about a review especially if things go smooth, when things go sideways though, again your upset so lets post that 1 star because you were wronged and that must be the status quo. For sure there are times 1star is deserved and I wont open the can of worms about the multitude of factors that can affect a service call again from both sides. I still hold fast to the idea that most people do not even think about posting. Here on yelp there are 108 at the time of this post. That's 1 week of calls (modest numbers btw). In closing, taking a repair to the finish line is exactly what this small company strives for everyday. Fortune-500 companies absolutely trust them with outsource repairs. If those companies were getting more flak than silence or praise they would be dropped in a heartbeat. I have worked for large and small companies, personally I try and support these small ones best I can and believe this place is a survivor still giving excellent service and satisfaction.

Follow-up is essential, particularly if a Fortune 500 company outsources the repair of its products. I won't complain about the employees because you get what you pay for, and I am sure they are overworked and underpaid. I wish the owner would address the root of the issues at this business...and yes, they make the poor receptionist be the go-between. TL;DR_Edit: One customer commented on the lack of star ratings and that this business wouldn't be around for 25 years if they were so bad. Over time, it is possible that, service has deteriorated and one cannot discount the underwhelming experience that people have had. If there were one or two that were negative, one can argue that they were outliers but the outliers are the few good reviews and they all pertain to a guy named Dan. Perhaps he should be the gold standard and the rest should emulate him.

I called AAA appliance repair to come take a look at a refrigerator that wasn't getting to temp in…read morethe freezer. When I called they were not interested in the model # of the fridge and said they would send a tech the following day. I was met with a rude tech who came to my house, opened the freezer a few times & said he thinks it's the control board. At no point did the tech pull the fridge out of its cubby, at no point did the tech inspect the fan or wire harness for the freezer, at no point did the tech even look at the control board which he claimed needed replacing, all he did was open my freezer & confirm what I already knew (that it wasn't getting cold) he said he would see if the control board was still available/discontinued & would follow up. They called this morning to let me know the part was no longer available & nothing could be done. I paid $100+ for absolutely nothing, AAA appliance should have taken my model number over the phone when I had first called for service and tried providing it, had they done this they could have come to the same conclusion (parts not available) without scheduling a tech. Beware consumers, this companies schtick is making money off of "diagnostic inspections" which in my instance should've been avoided as it was completely unnecessary due to unavailability of parts.

The Service Department, to be kind about it, is a mess. We bought our oven in January and in August, the oven door broke. When I called the Service Department, I was told to leave a message and they would call me back. I must have called a dozen times and finally, they returned my call. They were either understaffed or they just didn't care. We arranged a date and I took time off from work to be at home. That morning they called and said that they were overbooked and could not come for another week. We arranged another appointment and the same thing happened, ten more days without an oven. Finally, the third time, the serviceman came out and fixed the door. It took about ten minutes. He was courteous, friendly and professional. If you want to purchase from SK Lavery, go ahead.
