This has to be one of the worst companies that i have ever dealt with...
I had a truck back into my car last March, which resulted in my tail light breaking. This place was recomended by my Insurance company... But i cant say this enough:TRY SOMEWHERE ELSE FIRST.
The quote that they recomended stated they needed to rplace the bumper and bumper bar, but this work had no relation to my initial accident... Which required no more than a new taillight and rubber gasket around it.
When they were questioned about why the extra work was required, the workman at the shop stated that it was due to the accident, yet had rust on it and was in a completely differnt part of the car then what was hit.
When confronted with this they agreed that it was now nust the bumper cover and taillight that needed replaced as they had already thrown out the factory original one. This was after i had a rep from the workshop state that the bumper did not need to be replaced...
After having the car for three days and quoting extra work i was fed up. I was taking a trip to Moncton for a family funeral and I was in charge of bringing the remains up. I asked the the car be completed promptly as it was now three days behind schedule and extra work that was quoted was not even required to be done as it was not related to this accident. I wa fed up and demanded that they put my bumper back on and taillight as this was way over time and i had a trip to take.
They complied with this and stated that it would be ready in a few hours... So that is when we returned to, what i can only call, A repo looking car. The bumper was the wrong colour and the taillight was the wrong colour compared to the other.
When i confronted the lady about the wrong colour and the wrong ste taillight, she stated: it looks fine to me... Its not "that" off and if you want the other light to match... You can always go buy a new one to make it match.
I understood that after outing there issuss with extra work quoted they were now unwilling to repair their mistakes... Even after two reps from two of their halifax regional locations agreed that it dosent match.. And the work lools like it should br redone... They still would not repaint the bumper as it is as close as they wanted.
After following up with my insurance, and following up with car star canada... The regional manager of Carstar Atlantic, Dave Meery, decided that he wanted to get involved and follow up with what we were so unhappy about.
When the issues that were brought up during the original transaction were stated to the district lead, he tried to shrug them off as paint not matching due to age...
"But it dosent match the inside of my hatch where the paint was not in direct sunlight"...
"So it dosent match... We used the code on the inside of the door... Vw white"
"But my car is "VW candy white"... "Vw" white didnt exist for this car year- and my bumper clearly dosent match for the 2007 year"
"Well what do you want us to do"
"Expalin to me why my original bumper was removed and why extra work was requested when it was not related to this accident"
"Well I admit the bumper dosent fit right... And the light needs its gasket... But what else can we do"...
After ignoring my questions and giving me the run around Iasked him to leave my property as he was unable to stated why the extra repairs and why the wrong colour was used... He then was rude enough to ask what the hell i was going to do if he didnt... I asked him again to leave... Which to this time he complied...
I would strongly recomend after the experience that i have been through to try a diffrent repair shop as this one has been one hell of a time to try and work with since they butchered my car in march... read more
