Phone calls, emails, and visits to collision shops ensued. Everybody wanted to replace the door panel, resulting in insane four-digit amounts. However, there was also the Dent Specialist who specializes in paintless dent removal. It's located in Beechville, a bit further west from Bayers Lake Business Park, in the back of the building that houses Popes Advanced Windows and Doors. The Dent Specialist (his name is Troy) closely cooperates with Gerry, who runs ChipsAway, a paint shop in the same location. They share their shop. After Troy had removed the dent, Gerry repainted the area. They also removed an old dent free of charge that my car already had when I bought it, near the driver's door handle. In total I paid about a quarter of what I would have paid at a collision shop, and it looks truly excellent. However, I also have a bit of criticism: Troy and Gerry need to work on their organizational skills. I had to drop off my car a total of three times -- one extra time since Troy thought he'd have enough time but didn't, and one extra time since Gerry had to fix his original paint job. That having said, their work seems to be excellent and is a great value, so if they improve their organizational skills a bit they certainly deserve five stars.

I called on the following Tuesday and was informed that it would be another week due to an issue with parts. An issue I had no control over. I didn't appreciate not being kept up to date and I told the receptionist as much. I may have said it was bullshit practice not to keep a customer informed or something along those lines. I wasn't happy. Anyway, she was apparently offended and today, Thursday, the manager calls and gives me shit for being not nice. So to recap: 1-they told me when it would be ready 2-they knew that changed but didn't bother to tell me 3-I call to confirm pick up and THEN they tell me there's a delay 4-the manager then thinks it prudent to call and berate a customer and says he listened to the tape of the call and claims I hung up and swore at her - not so much, but whatever. I told him it's the lack of communication and the poor attitude that's the issue. Is it just me or should they have let me know what's going on? And according to the manager " you have a rental so it's no big deal" seems a bit off. Perhaps keep your customers informed of changes and don't piss them off by being stupid about it. I don't know about the quality of their work but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I'll review their work when I finally get my vehicle back.

After having a small…read moredent on my trunk hatch they had taken it in for repair 5 days later my car is ready I go and I pick it up. Now there's MORE DAMAGE than before I dropped it off originally. The wiper sprayer wouldn't spray and the paint was poorly poorly done. They made me come back to repair their mistakes and made it a huge problem. Not only did I have to arrange my whole day to be here. They sent me off 5 minutes later to schedule ANOTHER appointment. I brought it back. Within 1 day I receive an email "car is ready" I show up and what do you know. MORE DAMAGE than before. This is most unacceptable behaviour. Not sure if it's an insurance scam. But BEWARE! Do not go to Carstar on Horseshoe lake drive. Your brand new car will look worse than the actual accident. Bravo to Carstar. My 2026 Honda looks wrecked!!!!!!!

They also scratched a body panel and are refusing to repair it even though I have a long, slow video of our car the day we dropped it off and that damage wasn't there. The pain has air bubbles in it, dirt and even a section where it looks like a piece of hair fell in the wet paint and someone pulled it out. Our insurance company sent us here.... Carstar can't get any of their own business, it's ONLY insurance companies sending them cars because they're so cheap. Also there are 139 of validated complaints in the BBB about this company and they've only been in Halifax for 5 years. Filing a complaint with the BBB takes a long time, you need proof etc. and they have nearly 140 complaints that the BBB said "yep, these guys screwed you". There are body shops who've been around for 50 years and don't have any validated complaints against them. STAY AWAY from this chop shop, or be faced with multiple visits, damage to your vehicle and then eventually suing them. Save yourself from this scenario.

Looked like parking lot dings, Customer was attempting to pursway appraiser to add, and he would not have anything of it. That is honesty. My experience with TD Insurance and CarStar Chain Lake has been nothing short of infuriating, disorganized, and completely dismissive of the customer. What should have been a simple insurance repair has turned into a seven-month-long, unresolved nightmare and somehow, both the insurer and repair shop have made it worse at every step. Here's what happened: *In September, our parked vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run. *We immediately contacted TD Insurance, who confirmed we were covered. Based on a past positive experience, we requested repairs through their recommended shop: CarStar Chain Lake. That turned out to be a huge mistake. *From the moment I walked in to drop off my car, I was treated like an inconvenience. No greeting. No clear direction. *I picked up my vehicle in October. Once I got home, it was glaringly obvious the repairs weren't done right. There was a visible ripple, a misaligned door, and a poor paint job with orange peel texture. When I called CarStar Chain Lake, they scheduled a follow-up appointment. That's when I learned they skipped installing a new door skin because it was on backorder. They simply made a patch repair without our consent. We conveyed we were willing to wait as long as necessary to get it done right, whether that meant a new door skin or better repairs. All we wanted was honesty and quality, not shortcuts and deception. But the lies didn't stop there. *On December 17, I was told by Claudia at CarStar Chain Lake that TD had approved the proper repair and that they were just waiting for the part. *Then, in January, I received an email saying my claim had been closed. I followed up with my TD Claims Advisor -- only to be told that TD had never approved it. So, I was blatantly lied to by CarStar. Since then, we've had to bring the car back FOUR times, and it's still not properly fixed. Each time, there are new issues: *There's been new problems or botched repairs. *One time they didn't even bother to remove plastic body moldings and just poorly taped and painted around. *Most recently, they painted over dirt and a dead bug, and then had the nerve to call that "industry standard." *They now refuse to fix it further. Claudia Belzile, the CarStar Shop Manager, has been consistently dismissive throughout this entire process. She has made us feel like a nuisance rather than valued customers. The last two times we came to pick up our vehicle, she didn't even come out to speak with us. Instead, she sent out someone we had never met -- who knew nothing about the months-long backstory -- making it clear she wants nothing more to do with us. Our TD claims advisor, Chantal Piercy, has been virtually absent. After promising to support us in resolving the issue, she went silent. No follow-ups, no coordination with CarStar, no ownership of the problem. TD's so-called "drama-free" claims experience has been nothing but stressful and disappointing. I've now started getting quotes from other insurance companies and will be moving both my auto and home policies away from TD Insurance. I can no longer trust a company that not only endorses a shop like CarStar Chain Lake, but allows this level of negligence to go unchecked. Let me be perfectly clear: *I didn't care whether it was a new door skin or a high-quality repair -- I just wanted it done properly. *I didn't care how long it took -- I only cared that we weren't lied to. *I didn't expect perfection -- but I did expect basic honesty and accountability. After months of wasted time, emotional exhaustion, and complete dismissal from both TD and CarStar Bayers Lake, I can confidently say this is the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Avoid TD Insurance. Avoid CarStar Chain Lake. Especially if you expect to be treated like a human being or have your vehicle repaired to a professional standard.
