I recently had a visit with a doctor that works for this surgical group. Instead of writing another awful review of this doctor (2 star doctor) I have decided to leave a review for the medical center of where this doctor works. I feel this center has a lack of accountability, low standards, and ineffective leadership to employee this doctor, and or have not been able to get this doctor to improve performance. After my visit which went absolutely no where in helping me with my worries and problem, my "addressed" issues was not at all taken care of. (My finished paperwork stated that issue was addressed.) After this appointment I went and looked up the doctor, I was not surprised what I found and read on reviews. It was horrific and really sad on what people has experience with this said doctor. I am dumbfounded as to why this center has still not corrected/helped this doctor to be more caring, less aggressive, loud, arrogant, and just lacks gentle health care for individual patients. I was going to call and switch to a different doctor in this group that I heard good things about, but I have decided to take my health care needs somewhere else. overall I am just shocked. read more

Saw Dr. Beal for consultation and have to admit I was very nervous based on primary care doctor's assessment. Her overall demeanor was reassuring and comforting. She spent enough time to make sure I understood exactly what was happening with my condition. She is a surgeon by training and normally surgeons want to do surgery. She supported lowest level of care possible. Her office staff is friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this group and Dr. Beal in particular. read more

My appendix ruptured on Tuesday, Oct.17, 2023. Dr. Taylor performed the appendectomy and inserted a type of drain that involves suction to remove infection. She continued to provide excellent care to me while I remained hospitalized until Friday, Oct. 20, 2023. She stressed upon me to call her office and make an appointment to have the sucking drain removed during the following week ending on Fri. Oct. 27, 2023. The drain, doing its job, causes quite a bit of pain and immobility. Dr. Taylor instructed me to call her office as soon as I got home. I did. The office was closed. I left a message stating my reason for the call and giving my information, fully expecting to be contacted Monday Oct. 23, 2023. At 9:54 AM that Monday, I called the office again. I was informed by Lisa that she was busy, she was the only one in the office and there was an active clinic happening, and that she would call me back. I never received a call back. Between 11:00 AM Tuesday Oct. 24, 2023, and 11:36 AM Tuesday Oct. 24, 2023 I made 5 calls to Lisa. The first call was answered by some "Springtime Opus" music, no vocal recording, which I hung up on after almost 10 minutes. Lisa answered the second call and informed me that she didn't have any report concerning me from the hospital, offered no assistance in sorting things out and was outright rude. I hung up with her, called Medical Records at CTH and spoke to Liam who sent my records immediately to Lisa. This was at 11:12 AM. I waited 15 minutes for a return call from Lisa. Zilch. I called back. I received a recorded message telling me that it was after office hours and that they were closed. I hung up, called back, and got the same bogus recording. I used my cell phone for all of these calls. I have the record of these calls on my cell, as well as the written notes I routinely keep. I grabbed our house phone and called Lisa, and guess what? SHE ANSWERED THE PHONE! I said I was sure that she had received my records from Liam. I asked why she didn't answer my other calls, and she admitted that "there was no excuse". She reluctantly started verifying my information with me and when she got to my BIRTHDATE, she had me born in 1967. I was born in 1957. She was so surprised! SHE MADE A MISTAKE!!!!! She rudely told me that I could come in next week, on Oct.31, 2023. I said NO. Dr.Taylor told me to make the appointment for this week. In 30 seconds I received an appointment for yesterday, Oct. 25, 2023. I reported this to Dr. Taylor who is wonderful, by the way, and informed her that I would be posting this review online. She said she would investigate from her end. I am grateful to Dr. Taylor for saving my life! I am also grateful that I only came equipped with one appendix and should never have to endure this incompetent and rude treatment from Lisa ever again. Really, Lisa, how many people are going to try to get a false appointment to have a drain removed from their abdomen?????? I am outraged. Lisa's behavior would have had an adverse effect on my health and healing. I consider her actions to be criminally negligent and deliberately malicious. Be forewarned if you are forced to deal with her. Since this review is for Carson Surgical Group's office in Carson City, NV and shouldn't reflect negatively on Dr. Taylor, I would leave no stars, but I want this to be posted so I'll give one star. read more

The staff here was super friendly. Appointment setting was quick and easy. My appointment time was equally good. The doctors and nurses here were very friendly and actually took the time to listen to what I had to say. read more

I went with the BF for his surgery consultation, and we walk in to the office and I sign in. The large woman who checked us in was so rude, chewing her gum like a cow with her mouth open, and snapping it!!!! WTF!!! You work with the public and you are in a professional setting, dealing with people who are ill, or even just nervous over having surgery, keep your mouth shut when chewing your gum. We had been there last week, so all our paperwork was completed, yet she proceeds to tell me we have paperwork to complete. I nicely explain it had been done and in a huffy way she finds it and says "fine, sit and someone will call you back". WTF!! On a good note, the consult went well, I am just venting. Who wants to be greeted by a rude open mouth gum chewer early in the morning? read more

The consultation with Dr. DeMar was wonderful. He's very caring and thorough. The surgery scheduler, the billing department, everyone was great. I didn't really deal with the nurses at that time. Dr. DeMar was great right before my surgery, and eased my worries. Sierra Surgical Hospital (which I will write a review...because that was pure awesomeness) was wonderful. I was a little put off that Dr. DeMar never came to see my after my surgery. He passed the info along to my mom, but never said anything to me. Which was weird. Here's the bad. After surgery has been hell. After day 5 and I was still in massive pain and almost positive I had an infection, I started calling his office. My follow up appointment wasn't for a week and they couldn't fit me in earlier. In fact I was told by a nurse to call back if it gets worse. Which I did...three times. I was told to call again if it gets worse. Um..isn't that what I'm doing?? I asked for a refill on my pain meds. The nurse told me she spoke to a surgeon..not mine...and that I was fine. That this far out from surgery, I'm not having pain. Excuse me? Really. I'm not in pain. Okay. I was also oozing gross things and extremely red and inflamed around the incision sites. Needless to say, I was in pain, infected, and super pissed. My follow up finally came and I was fired up. After waiting 45 minutes after my appointment time, I finally saw my doctor. I started in on how frustrated I was, etc. He was honestly taken aback and had NO IDEA I had called FOUR times, let alone once. He was upset too. He gave me antibiotics and pain meds and assured me that if I have any problems to tell them HE said to put me through to him. Sorry so long, but point is...the nursing staff there in my opinion sucks. Sure they are nice, but they didn't even bother to take any of my complaints seriously. Or bother to tell me that they weren't talking to my surgeon, but someone who doesn't even know me!!! I'm finally feeling human 15 days after my surgery. Just be wary of the nurses. As for Dr. DeMar? I went to Carson Surgical Group on Jan 25th for a procedure. The entire staff treated me with compassion and respect. Dr. Guzman and staff did an absolutely wonderful job from consultation to recovery and follow up. Following their directions my recovery went as good as I could have ever hoped. If I had any questions at all they answered them completely. I am so happy that I chose this team and would not hesitate in the future to go back there! In my opinion they are way better than the Reno Surgical Center. read more

My wife was called yesterday by this group about her results from her breast surgery. They had said prior to the surgery that the tumor was very small (0.07mm to 1.1 cm) , that they did not think it spread to the lymph nodes. After the surgery this office called my wife at school, while she was in a meeting to let her know the results of the surgery biopsy. She had STAGE 3 breast cancer! OMG Say what. Went to Dr. King this morning, he confirmed that it was Stage 3, which we asked what it ment, as my wife thought it was Stage II. No. he assured us, I & II are in the breast only, III is if it has spread to the lymph nodes, and IV, is if it is in the body parts. Look at the Stages below. After our meeting my wife was convinced that he was wrong, so she had me check it out. With the tumor 1.1 CM, and only one positive lymph node, she has Early Stage IIA, NOT STAGE III. I called Dr. King, and he got out his "Book on Cancer Stages," and agreed, it was Stage IIa, not Stage III. They say he is a good surgeon, but do you really want to go to a guy that is going to give you the wrong diagnosis, and will need to get out his book on cancer stages, to refresh his memory, and confirm that your wife's diagnosis of Stage IIA, not the Dr. King's diagnosis of Stage III, is correct? Dr.Beal seems to be qualified and sincere person. The rest of the staff with the exception of two of the three ultra sound techs I have dealt with however leave a great deal to be desired. There seems to be a lot of turn over in the staff.The front desk staff on all three of my recent visits have been different women each time but all have been surly, rude and very unprofessional. Acting as if you were intruding on their conversations, smacking on their gum and conferring about something on the computer that obviously had nothing to do with their job. The ultra sound tech on my second procedure was loud, boorish and treated the ultra sound for blood clots in my leg as if she was doing a mammogram. I actually had bruises the next day. When she had finished her dismissing comment was" we'll call you". When always before I had made an appointment with Dr. Beal to get the results. That call never came and I had to call them to schedule the appointment. Not to mention that at one point in my history with them I received 5 of those annoying rob calling reminding me of an appointment within the 3 days prior to the appointment. After the most recent ultra sound the tech escorted me to the scheduling staff and told her to make an appointment with Dr. Beal. While she was pleasant enough after 10 minutes of switching between two computer screens she managed to book my appointment with the wrong Dr. I really can't imagine what the problem here is but they really need to get their act together. read more

Dr. DeMar was great! This would be 5 stars if it were just him, but unfortunately I had to deal with the rude, apathetic little purple haired billing lady. There are appropriate and inappropriate ways to bill a patient, she chose the latter. She is very rude and if you don't have the full price of a surgery's worth of cash in your pocket ready to pay, she treats you like a complete dead beat... She left nasty-gram messages threatening to send me to collections when it was her own admitted clerical error and my payments were on time-via bank auto bill pay. Very unpleasant person to have to deal with. I wish her demeanor and professionalism were closer to Dr. DeMar!! read more
