I contacted Alan through HomeAdvisor, one of those services that connects you with handyman services, looking to add a pantry to a wall in my kitchen. I didn't think it was a huge project, but it was definitely more than I was willing to tackle. He came by quickly to assess the job and give me a quote, as well as giving me instructions on what cabinet to purchase so that he could install it. Once I had gone to Lowe's to pick out the cabinet, he was happy to review the drawing by email before I ordered it to make sure that it was the appropriate one and that it would fit in the spot I had designated for it. He picked the cabinet up from Lowe's the day before my appointment with him, and arrived a few minutes early on installation day. He worked quickly, cleanly, and his work is beautiful. He was careful to make sure that drywall dust didn't end up on my floor and furniture, and wiped everything down when he was done. The part where I became a lifelong Alan fan was this: He finished the job in less time than he had estimated, but rather than taking off and having a few hours to himself, he instead completed another project that I had mentioned to him during our first meeting. Our lovely dog had chosen to chew up the entire door casing, leaving it ugly and shredded. Alan headed to Lowe's, picked up the piece he needed, and replaced it. The silver color is off and it is not the right shape. I contacted the owner, he contacted the worker who called me rather upset that I did not trust he would replace it. Well I had waited over a month when I contacted them and now it has been about three months and no contact. I have taken care of it myself so I no longer need follow up. All I needed done for the single one door closet was a framed in front and door and shelves inside. Yes they did do some texture to the wall area but it does not totally match the rest of the walls but I decided to let that go because I needed the job done. It only bothers me when I look close. I feel the job was a high price to pay for the work they did. I had two lower bids from licensed workers but they could not get to it right away so I went with Gabil and paid much more. Sorry but no excuse for not changing out the wrong door knob in a timely manner. I took care of it myself.

He did just that and let us know that there was nothing to worry about as the installed beams were just reinforcement for something heavy that might have once been stored there like a gun safe, but were not integral to the structure of the sub floor. I discovered some Termite damage in three Floor Joists and Rim Joists in my home. The Pest…read moreInspector said there was no active infestation, but I should call a General Contractor. Danny's first Crawl Space inspection led him to guestimate was there was $5,000-$6,000 of damage, but there was no way to know for sure without removing the exterior wall. After Danny thought about it for a couple weeks before he came to work on the house, he came up with a stroke of genius. Instead of removing the exterior siding, he cut a hole in the floor by the damaged Floor Joists so he could easily reach the damage without multiple trips through the crawl space. Then instead of replacing a 6+ foot length of Floor Joist, he nailed 8"x2" pressure treated wood bracing on either side of the Floor Joists and backed-up 4 Rim Joists with 8"x2" pressure treated wood. He also screwed into the foundation sidewall pressure treated 2"x4" wood side bracing support from the foundation footing to the bottom of four Floor Joists. He did this all in one day (with a helper) at a cost of $1,000 instead of his original guestimate of $5K-$6K. Danny is a Genius, hard worker, and very honest!
