My check engine light has been on for over 3,000 miles and it is only a faulty code. I replaced both my O2 sensors and the light still came on. It's a $30 fix. It's not the engine needing replacing like Car shield would have you believe. I would actually pay for Car shield if, every six months, if I didn't have any breakdowns, I would want all my money back. Of course, they're not going to do that, but that's how I think. I'm not going to pay for the IDEA of my car breaking down or the word "if". Not unless there is a full refund for unused services. No sir. We thought we would give Carshield a try. The service representative was very helpful in signing us up. But for some reason it just didn't feel right, so a week later we called customer service and requested that our service be cancelled per their 30 day cancellation policy. The first service representative would not honor our request to cancel. He kept pushing CarShield, wouldn't listen, was rude, and he hung up the phone on us after being on the call for 14 minutes. We then called back a second time and spoke to a second representative. He also pushed CarShield as to why we shouldn't cancel. He just wouldn't respect our request to cancel this service. He even threatened us that if we didn't fill out a three questionnaire he would not cancel our contract and monies would continue to be withdrawn from our banking account. After going the rounds with him for 17 minutes he said our service would be submitted for cancellation and a full refund issued. Our account was closed with CarShield and our original monies were refunded. Beware of their tactics. We hate to think if we had submitted a mechanical claim would they be helpful or would they treat us the same way we were treated when trying to cancel our service? Will they be unwilling to honor their contract, be rude, be dishonest, be threatening, etc. Just by the way we were treated we would never call CarShield again for service for our vehicles nor recommend it to anyone. They should learn to be respectful to anyone who is asking that their service be canceled and stop being OUR boss and belittling us. read more

We are almost 3 mos into this replacement... They are using used engines. The first one was damaged but the mechanic scabbed from the bad one. I will never do CarShield. They made it so hard for me to file a claim. I broke down on my way to work. I had it towed 2 miles to the repair shop of their choosing and it cost me more than what they would pay. They got the part and replaced the part without my permission which was under my warranty. Carshield denied the part was covered under their policy and I questioned it and the gentleman called the shop and allowed the shop to change the part name. Oh well it is not covered. The car at least ran but it still leaked oil, missed, so now I had to take it to the dealership. Well it didn't make it because I just about set it on fire. Over a month. Careshield dragged their feet to approve the repairs. They made me get invoces of oil changes back till 2 years. Who keeps that? They could see by the Carfax where I went and what was done. But I had to go to 5 min oil to get invoices. It is an OIL Change place! I feel like if I was a man I wouldn't had to do this! I needed them to hurry! I father was passing away. I begged them to approve the repair so I could drive 2000 miles home to say good bye. Nope still dragged his feet. I couldn't afford the plane or the rental. Begged. Now! I bought a new vehicle and do not need the warranty. I have 20 days remaining to till my next autopayment. "No you can't have your money back because you have a month to month contract". Bull! These ads are a pestilence all over my television using the fourth wheel from Ghostbusters (Ernie Hudson) and ESPN's Chris "Swami" Berman to extol the joy of happy elders who apparently had the ancient transmissions in their '92 LeSabres and AMC Matadors replaced courtesy of automotive warranty company CarShield. Naturally, I called BS and just for grins reached out to get the skinny on additional coverage on my recently departed ML350 from the early aughts. Don't waste your time, the premiums are usurious all but equaling the payment on a new, quality vehicle. It's usually a bad sign when they immediately start negotiating as soon as you laugh at their initial quote. And exclusions, they outnumber the parts and systems covered 4:1 with sky high deductibles. Further, only when pressed will they admit to only using parts supplied by CarShield as OEM replacements are almost always not covered. A bad deal and a lawsuit waiting to happen. Steer your junker clear of this entirely avoidable accident. Zero stars. read more

Carshield does NOT pay for repairs like they claim to. I have the gold protection coverage which includes powertrain. My transmission started having issues and the adjuster said they would NOT cover ANY repairs because it was a "PRE-EXISTING CONDITION". I purchased Carshield to give me peace of mind because it was a 5 year old vehicle and I had no records of how the previous owners maintained the car. WellCarshield will not cover repairs that were due to the negligence of the previous owner. I asked the adjuster what was the point of used car warranty if that was the case and he said did not know. The adjusters name is Mark. They send out an inspector that works for them which will find a way to get away with not having to pay for repairs. Mark also clearly told me on the phone that the only thing they could cover was the diagnostics test then refused to cover that as well. I called the Carshield claims department asking for Mark to give me a call and they said he didn't have to call me and then pretended that they couldn't hear me and hung up on me. NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I EVER DEALT WITH SUCH A FRAUDULENT, UNETHICAL, UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY. Don't trust the TV commercial or the car sale men trying to sell you this insurance. What they don't tell you is that the Auto shop has to participate and accept the insurance in order to work on your car. The majority of auto shops don't accept this repair insurance for the same reason why you shouldn't buy it, they suck when it comes to getting the work and payment. I had this insurance and the air conditioner failed after just buying the car 2005 Audi A4. Well called the dealer because I couldn't find a reputable mechanic to do the work. They sent me to a mechanic where they can do the work. Then the insurance company started with the penny pinching and looking for cheap used parts and only paid for certain charges. They will do everything to not pay out claims even when you give them everything they ask for. They want records that are near impossible to produce and after finally getting them in order they find another reason to deny the claim. Unlike some people I read my terms in full and for sure was covered for the parts I was trying to have repaired, yet I was still denied. This was after finding a place that would actually deal with car shield. Most places knew they never pay out and wouldn't work with them. I would give zero stars if I could. My Mother decided to cancel the service and was treated extremely unprofessional! The man on the phone kept trying to pressure her to keep the service and would not close the account. She hung up on him and called back and was patched back in to the same person. She hung up again and the same person immediately called her back and told her if she hung up again he would not close her account. It took her 45 minutes to have the service closed. CarShield is a scam. Once you bring your car into the auto repair place and they diagnose a repair that should be covered, be prepared to be without your car for weeks! CarShield drags their feet when it's a covered repair, but will give you a denial immediately for non-covered repairs. They offer rental reimbursement, but only if the job is more than 8 hours. They have a repair book at CarShield and every repair job is listed for under 8 hours, so forget the rental. After having the claim for 2 weeks at CarShield, and after multiple calls to these guys, they eventually said, oh we need photos showing the part that has to be replaced. So repair shop does that. Then they claim photos were never received. So sent again. 2 weeks later, finally approved the claim. So 4 weeks without my car and sitting in repair shop parking lot where I was worried cat converter would get stolen. And you can't just drive the car away and bring it back, then the repair job would be void. And you can't pay for it and then put in for the claim, they will void the repair. Their angle to make you wait so long without use of your car that you will just pay for it out of your own pocket and move on. Their promises on their ads on TV are complete bs, don't fall for it. She called me after they denied the claim for my Jaguar, and I was not sure if I would keep the service after the poor experience of waiting a week for my car. Normally, I will refer additional customers to this company. However, when I tried to explain my issues, she was rude and had the nerve to transfer back to the customer line because she did not want my concerns with their company.
