This was my first visit to Carroll Hospital since moving to Westminster 5 years ago. I was impressed by the wonderful care, compassion, and professionalism of the doctors and nurses. I felt treated with kindness and patience and like "a person", not just a patient. Dr. O'Connell put 14 stitches in my ear and 2 staples in my scalp. The ear has healed beautifully. She referred me to plastic surgery, but she did such a careful job that I don't need it [see photo]. Thank you to the excellent staff.

From the initial sign-in at the ER, where the admitting clerk yawned in our faces, to the triage nurse who abruptly stopped me from following my sick wife into the ER by shouting "patients only," the entire experience was frustrating and frightening. While the initial PA and emergency nurse were competent and compassionate, the nurse that came-in on shift change (Joyce) was more interested in eating her bagel than helping my wife. When I asked her to give my wife some pain meds, the nurse disappeared. I found her 15 minutes later coming back from the cafeteria with a drink. When my wife told the nurse she was cold, Joyce came in and threw--yes, threw--a package of socks at her and walked out. Unbelievable. The ER doctor (Dr. Siddabattula) was also curiously perplexed by the entire situation. We met him two hours after my wife received an ultrasound and an initial diagnosis that required 24 hrs of observation. The doctor had a difficult time explaining in English what he thought my wife's medical condition was. When I asked him a question about her stay, he merely smiled and uttered "you know insurance companies." ??? I will end this rant here. My wife was finally stabilized and released, but not before enduring 30 hours of nurses rushing into her ER/COU room asking her to verify her name and the reason for her admission. We hope to avoid returning to this place, but the next closest hospital is in Gettysburg. God, do we miss Johns Hopkins. (It would be nice if the hospital administrator cared enough to comment on these Yelps, but you can see by the other complaints below that that doesn't happen.)

I started feeling ill last year and my PCP wasn't able to ascertain the cause of the discomfort after several months, so eventually she referred me to Dr. Kossoff. He is a man of action! He instantly dove right in sending me for tests and in a matter of weeks was able to figure out what was causing the issue. He has always been very friendly and empathetic and never made me feel like "well maybe it's in your head" or "are you sure that's how you're feeling?" which I seem to read a lot when it comes to GIs. He also takes the extra time to explain the science behind what you're feeling, which I really appreciate! He gives his patients intellectual credit and never talks down and is never ever dismissive. He really cares, and REALLY knows his stuff! His front desk staff is wonderful -- always accommodating, friendly, and patient. Once, the day before my surgery consultation, I was in pain, so I called the office to see if they had any tips or tricks to get me through to my appointment. Dr. Kossoff wasn't in the office that day so I got off of the phone ready to just grit my teeth and push through. Well, guess what? Within ten minutes they had not only called me back, but they had called my favorite pharmacy with a prescription. I'm only 25 years old. Sometimes going to the doctor without a parent present still feels like a surreal experience... but Dr. Kossoff is welcoming, friendly, knowledgable and consistently making sure that I have everything I need to feel informed, confident, and healthy! You'll be in good hands with him!

Was able to schedule one and had a great experience with the nurses/physician assistants and doctor (Dr.Francis) and was excited to schedule my endoscopy. However I needed to review my work schedule which is often changing to find a day which was suitable and would fit in Dr.Francis' operation schedule. I was assured I could call back and schedule the procedure. Little did I know that I would be at the mercy of the ONE procedure scheduler that the office uses, who is so busy dealing with the phone traffic that they cannot reliably answer the phone. When I asked if there was another way I could schedule the procedure, in person or by some kind of email or patient portal , I was left a very rude message saying that I was sending the scheduler to my voicemail when I was in the middle of various processes at work and had called more than 10 times during the week at different times to try to catch them to schedule the procedure. Not only this but the front desk also had the same track record for answering the phone, as in they never answer. Guess i was lucky to get my initial appointment over the phone in the first place. Will not be returning, heading to another Gastro that actually has adequately and functioning staff. I would not give this office your patronage, they are comfortable knowing they are a much lauded office so they don't take care of patients.

I've been a patient for YEARS and only managed to see Dr. Lafsky in office ONCE due to repeated scheduling errors on their end. The final straw was after being denied a scheduled appt. With Dr. Lafsky by Nancy the office manager. All bc I missed an appointment while I was in the hospital with SEPSIS. Instead of telling the doctor I was there she sat me and my MOTHER down for 45min to lecture us about missing appointments. I even called from my potential deathbed to cancel and i saw Dr. Lafsky while in hospital!! Later that weekend, I retroactively received an invite from the receptionist Sam to an entirely different appointment the previous month that I did not make nor was I ever informed of. Clearly trying to clean up a screw up. So, after trying to schedule an over due Endo and colonoscopy for 3 years with this office, I finally gave up and found a new GI. I came in as a new patient, had my first appointment, and both procedures scheduled and performed in less than 2 weeks. If you are having issues with this office, it's them not you, just run. P.s. shout-out to Reston Gastro Health! It's a 2hr round-trip, but probably just gained me years of life back.
