I would like to leave a review, although I've not had a recent experience with carrier in a while (I've been admitted a couple times). I passed by recently, and remembered the couple admissions (although distorted memories because of mania on all occasions) that the staff at least a majority of them work their absolute best to give the quality of care that's necessary for the numerous different cases of often times very difficult to deal with patients including myself. I hope that if, whomever which staff comes across this review, might possibly remember me, thank you for doing your absolute best (most of you) to care for us. I remember CSU, which I was transported to after having an incident with another patient. It is hard to remember names, but who stands out and I remember thoroughly is Cynthia the MHT in csu. Although I had acted very improper towards her due to my heightened manic delusional state of mind, I do remember her being ONE of the kindest, most compassionate and down to earth human beings ive ever known and she is made for this type of industry. If Cynthia comes across this interview I apologize for my behavior towards you and I really thank you for doing your best to mitigate and deal with it. Keep being you and doing what you do There are other staff as well that I remember faces of but not names, alot of the MHTs in CSU are cool people, except one particular bald headed individual whom I remember saying he enjoys hurting people. I remember a lot of complaints going in about him including my own, hopefully he was removed. Food is great too. Very accommodating. I wish you all the best and much luck with handling future patients. My daughter was admitted and treated for mania and the care she received truly made a difference during a very difficult time for our family. I'm not gonna lie. I was so skeptical about all the bad reviews ,The doctor was amazing professional, patient, and very thorough in explaining my daughter treatment and answering our questions. I also want to give special recognition to Counselor Maria, who was absolutely great. She showed genuine compassion, understanding, and support, not only to my daughter but to our family as well. I sit here writing this review to any parents that consider sending their child to Carrier Clinic in Bell Meade. I am an 18 year old who recently a patient at the facility. This review will be longwinded, honest, and thorough. Upon arrival, the clinic looked nice from the outside. As we are doing the intake, which if you attend either voluntarily or involuntarily you can no longer withdraw at this point, things that were not mentioned began to peek out. I was told I was allowed to keep a sheet of paper with the phone numbers of my close family and my boyfriend, and a list of all my medications. In reality that paper means nothing because your child will only be able to call their parent or guardian. They may not dial the number themselves, they must ask a technician to dial their mom through the nurse station while you wait outside for it to ring. The phone is located in the open hallway at the end by the nurses station. the maximum call time is fifteen minutes. Moving on, they do skin assessment where you strip completely naked while they assess any marks, scrapes, or bruises on your body. You are put into a reused (washed) gown and pants while they wait to search through your stuff. I came in with an entire tote bag o things. Nothing harmful, a few coloring books, some crayons, basic clothes, and a essential toiletries eg. shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, toothbrush, and toothpaste. I ended up being able to keep the shampoo and conditioner in a locked cabinet that I had to ask to access. The rest of my things were put in storage. I was also able to keep one t-shirt, and a pair of sweatpants which they pulled the drawstrings from (understandable). I was also able to keep two coloring books which they told be to keep hidden so people wouldn't steal them. My crayons I was not able to keep. They did however provide broken dirty peeled crayons in the group room to use. The first night I was understandably distraught. I was shown intense self harm scars, shared horrific trauma, and the nurses did not seem to care about either behaviors. I asked to call my mom, they said they attempted twice in the nurses station and she didn't answer. My mother is not the type to not pick up the phone, she always answers for her children. I asked three nurses sobbing to try again and they did not care. They asked if I would like my anxiety medication. One technician, Katie saw how distraught I was and asked me to explain the situation. She then went and personally called my mom and my mother picked up immediately. I can not thank Katie enough for doing her job with empathy. Which you think would be the norm in a place caring for mentally ill teenagers, but no they are few and far between here. While I called my mom, someone ran up on me and began to rub my arm. Physical contact with other patients is strictly prohibited so I asked them not to touch me, and they backed off. That night I slept on a small foam mattress with a sheet, a rugged towel and two plastic pillows. I woke up several times during the night to hear the nurses laughing and having a great time in the nurses station. That morning started the issues with food. I have ARFID, a restrictive food disorder that only allows me to eat the foods I know I enjoy. We had clearly stated that around five times during the intake. My parents sent me with six ensures which they kept in the fridge. The food there was absolutely inedible. The chicken was pink, the beef was grey, the eggs were like rubber. It is absolute slop. They have a juice machine in the cafeteria, but they did not restock any of them for weeks apparently, there was never juice when I was there. I left at the start of lunch to get my ensure. I waited outside making eye contact with around FIVE nurses, for THIRTY MINUTES. I missed lunch, they asked me as my group went back "what do you want". The people there are unbelievably cruel and incompetent. They roll a snack cart around at 2:30 and 8:30, by my third day there they said the pantry was empty and they had nothing to give us. The only water we are allowed to drink is from a water jug dispensing station nailed to the wall in the group room, you drink out of paper cups. On the fourth day, our water jug had ran empty. When we asked for a new one they said we had to wait, because we were "probably wasting and splashing it around" when we waited for two more hours we asked again. They said they were all OUT of water jugs. We did not get a water jug until the next morning. That is absolutely insane and inhumane. What do you mean you're out of water? It is your job to get a new one, call someone, go to the store. We are stuck here and can't help you. Water is a basic human right? and it is your job to fulfill that. The care you recieved here is few and far between. You talk to a social worker and a psychiatrist for 5 minutes a day, once a day if you are lucky. There is no one-on-one counseling. The only "counseling" is the group therapy in the group room three time read more

I thought the care a family member received was very good. Two social workers attending a family member's case were bright and knowledgeable, above average compared with other professionals. Regular contact with a psychiatrist is impressive and they work to develop a reasonable treatment plan. There are some negative reviews and I think those deal somewhat with expectations so let me clarify what is done. 1. Contact with staff Again I had 2 insightful conversations with staff members. However, you cannot freely reach people. If you say I'm John Smith, Robert's dad and I need to speak with a doctor or social worker today, that may not happen. They do their job for the patient, handling things in a competent fashion in my view but are not there to cater to family members. 2. Communication with patient. Patients are not allowed cellphones and guests cannot bring a phone into the unit. Patients are freely allowed to call but if you miss a call unfortunately you cannot call back. Messages seem largely ineffective. 3. Facilities The place is clean but older. There are various educational and recreational activities planned, patients encouraged but not compelled to go. Likewise with medicine, adherence to a plan is encouraged and absent compelling circumstances, the patient chooses whether to take his medicine. Visiting is fine, but the place is hard to get to and you may wait 10-15 minutes to be brought to the area, so try not to come at 7:30 when visiting ends at 8. . read more

I used to give this place so much credit a couple of years ago but after getting discharged just a couple of weeks ago, this place has gone DOWNHILL. Blake Recovery Center is a joke now - they are hiring people who are scaring patients away, discharging people who are genuinely trying to get help and making people community leaders who aren't even trying to get sober just to try to boost their self esteem. Do better Hackensack. Just had to file a state report because they discharged me with NO papers and no prescriptions, absolutely unethical and unprofessional. Do NOT recommend to anybody trying to recover from addiction, this place is more stressful than anything else. read more

I was sexually harassed and nothing was done about it. I was kept against my will because I was told the doctors saw me as a check. They only released me because I made the complaint that they violated HIPAA, and I was sexually harassed. The staff here don't know how to do their jobs correctly. read more

I was thinking no TV in rooms is far too limiting but they do have DVD players. If I had time to prep, I could've had DVDs delivered to me of YouTube videos. I don't watch tv or old shitty movies they had. The strictness feels unnecessary. You for example can't bring your own media player even if the staff keeps any wires with them. These sorts of rules have no safety reasoning. The staff is nice. Staff cares enough. I was here involuntarily on trumped up reasons so my stay itself sucked. I was up 22 hours a day dealing with the worst roommates. I had the two loudest snorers back to back. read more

I was a licensed social worker at the East Mountain Youth Lodge 2003-2004. It was my dream job. I poured my heart and soul into working with the youth. And the staff put their heart and soul into firing me. And they succeeded. If ever there was such a thing as feeling lucky to be fired then I was feeling lucky. I was fired for doing my job. I was not given the opportunity to terminate with my clients. No closure for myself and more importantly no closure for my clients and their families. And it broke my heart. Devastating for the youth. I am currently watching The Program. It is a documentary on Netflix on residential youth programs and how they were all about money. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. It's an understaffed psychiatric hospital. The main overnight nurse/receptionist need to be fired. There's no on-call psychiatrist over the weekend or after 3:50pm on a weekday. The psychiatrists really do not care about their patients. They'd rather involuntary commit your loved one than treat them. They provide the worst patient care I have ever seen. Their medical team has no compassion and they get angry at families for asking questions. They will hang up on you and stop answering your calls. This is more like an imprisonment camp than a hospital. The only thing they care about is money/an insurance payout. read more

I was voluntarily admitted there from Hackensack Meridian in Manahawkin with depression and having a bad reaction to an antidepressant. My room was filthy. Sewer flys in the bathroom, a stench in the room. They thought they were going to immediately and abruptly stop my longstanding order for a benzodiazipine, which is mortally dangerous. I had two severe panic attacks trying to convince two doctors that I don't abuse drugs and how horrifying the thought was. I was also reminded that although I was there voluntarily, if I continued to emotional, it could possibly change my status to involuntary commitment. But they couldn't be sure about that, because my first visit with my psychiatrist wasn't until the next day, so all I could do was cry about it and worry in the my room. The second bed my smelly room still had old sheets on it from pt. that had been discharged. Some of her hair was all over the sink. The room was never cleaned until the following day, after my husband drew the sewer flies to their attention. While a tech was doing a skin assessment on me in a shower room, she wanted me to sit on a shower chair that had obvious faces and skin scales. She the picked up a bath blanket from the FLOOR and covered the stain with it. As I became calmer, I filled out a form to get myself out there. The following day, a male patient was angrily yelling, punching the wall and threatening to hit someone. A little while later, a DIFFERENT male patient was allegedly found naked and attempting to rape a female patient in her room. Police vehicles were parked outside of the facility for several hours. When I finally met with the psychiatrist, she discharged me that very day. I'll be filing formal complaints and I sincerely stress to avoid Carrier Clinic Hackensack Meridian. read more

My adolescent granddaughter had a horrible experience in this place. She was admitted around midday for depression. She was basically ignored by staff although crying inconsolably. They put her in a room with a girl that tried to hang herself twice and she told my granddaughter that she should hang herself. Although it was a girls only unit a boy walked by her room and told her he was going to butt rape her. There were other incidences in her short 12-hour stay that I won't go into. Staff were not compassionate to the needs of the patients, no supervision of the unit, staff on cell phones, etc. read more

I stayed at Carrier Clinic for 28 days in 1987 and enjoyed my hospitalization... I even got to meet the famous actress, Heather Locklear...The treatment team was good... The rooms were immaculate... The food was excellent... The problem was that I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Sager... I was not properly diagnosed as Manic-Depressive until I was hospitalized at MPH Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital in 1992!!! read more

At first I thought it was great. Peacocks walking around but the counselors are awful!and the Director Michelle and nurse Josephine should be fired! I'm a healthcare professional with multiple degrees and experience. I been there about 4 times and every time it's been worse. The server sexually harassed me daily! We had a loved one at Carrier for about 10 weeks. It was terrible! They over-medicated her to the point where she was practically catatonic, refused to let us talk to her other than three one minute Zoom calls, AND told her we abandoned her. This resulted in her refusing to eat or take any meds and getting very sick. Even though we have health care power of attorney they would not tell us her diagnosis, prognosis or anything and because she refused meds/food she kept getting recommitted. We finally got her out with the help of a law firm specializing in elder care and New Jersey Long-Term Care Ombudsman-independent agency providing protection and advocacy for individuals in long term care facilities, including psychiatric hospitals. https://www.nj.gov/ooie/contact.shtml 1-877-582-6995. Once they realized we were not going to stop advocating for her and demanding she be released they finally assigned a new social worker who was much more professional, allowed a brief visit where we let her know we had not abandoned her. I was a special education teacher for 2 years at the East Mountain School. My salary was slightly lower to what I made in public school, but with fewer deductions, I saw MORE money in my paychecks. Hackensack offers a great 403b/401k retirement plan. HMH's benefits are excellent as long as you visit their doctors. The problem is that HMH has virtually no medical offices in Somerset or Hunterdon Counties which is where most Carrier employees live. The nearest facility to the Raritan/Delaware Valley area is JFK Hospital in Edison and all the rest are in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. RWJ Barnabas is the dominant healthcare provider in that area and they tend to favor their own insurance over HMH's, so keep that in mind if health benefits are your priority. Leadership always treated me well. I got along great with people from other units, but my building was very clique-ish; especially with the therapists and instructional assistants AKA: Techs. One thing I noticed was that they were given responsibilities that in public school: teachers and administrators would normally handle. Although their tasks greatly reduced my workload, it allowed them to have too much input on administrative decisions and daily operations. The vibe I got was they felt superior to the teachers. Some were condescending in nature with how they spoke to students and staff especially this 1 young female Tech who was interrupted my class a few times to do such. Put her in her place real quick! We also had this one arrogant, self-centered math teacher who always tried to 1-up administration with his brilliant ideas and suggestions. He even acted like a supervisor by trying to add responsibilities to my workload. Because he was an amateur ballplayer in these minor-league, no-name private schools and never had Major-League teaching experience, I was easily able to expose him and his inferior leadership skills. Despite East Mountain's obsolete educational resources, I had very few problems with the students because of my strong urban public school special ed background. In fact, the students were quite enjoyable to teach and I easily earned their respect. The one major challenge was staffing. Not only was EMS always understaffed, but most teachers I worked with had little or no experience teaching this caliber of student. Some were still taking classes to become certified when I got hired. Other employees were here one day, then mysteriously gone the next. These factors combined with a rapidly growing student enrollment made working here challenging at times. I felt like a respected and valued employee until I gave my 30 days notice that I was leaving to take a job closer to home. No one in a Leadership position ever responded to my resignation, reached out to thank me for my service or extended any well-wishes. Instead, HMH immediately canceled my health benefits which breached the separation clause in my contract. They tried to say I was terminated even though I produced airtight documentation proving I resigned on my own accord. It took several strongly-worded emails and phone calls to make this right. Whether due to an honest mistake or a blatant act of retaliation, this inexcusable wrongdoing significantly reduced the level of gratitude and respect I once had. As a result, the good times and pleasant memories working here are now becoming harder to remember. read more

I wont go to deep into my story but my visit to this place changed my life for the better. Alot of people post negative reviews on this place but thats probably because they didnt get themselves involved. Its hard to take the step of going here, however, once you do theres a burning light at the end of the tunnel and for the first time i saw it. Being surrounded by so many people all there for a similar reason is truly something welcoming especially when they all have your back. This place is magic. Everyone has their own unique experience, but having experienced loved ones being admitted to several inpatient mental health facilities in the area, I can only sing Carriers praises and, if I needed to be admitted, I would not go anyplace else. The facility itself has been renovated and thought was really put into how to beat serve it's patients. One example is the vaulted ceilings with skylights. Most mental health hospitals do not have windows for safety and security reasons, but that leads to a very dreary environment devoid of natural light. It's hard to imagine a patient who is being treated for depression thriving in such an environment. That's not the case at Carrier, the facility is bright, open and welcoming. I was also very impressed with the auxiliary therapies, from art and music therapy to equine therapy and more. In other hospitals, "art therapy" sometimes consisted of crayons, paper and a supervisor watching patients color things on their own. In Carrier the programs are run by true professionals who really help engage the patients to express themselves and improve their state of mind. Every staff member that I encountered, from the receptionists up to the treating physicians were compassionate and consummate professionals. The nursing staff cared about my loved one, but they also were very aware of the needs of the family and knew just what to say or do during the roughest times. My loved one entered Carrier barely clinging on to life, I really did not feel that they would be with us much longer. By the time they left, they had a diagnosis, an understanding of how this diagnosis impacted their thinking and their behavior, and they felt now had hope. I'm so glad to know Carrier is there as a resource for our family and any others in need. read more

In a word...NO...do not even consider Carrier Clinic for any mental healthcare needs. The staff is overworked and not very caring. Besides the peacocks that wander about the outside areas they give patients no mental stimulation, except 2 ridiculous group sessions per day. I was there during the summer and the AC was not operating and they made no attempt to have it repaired. The rooms are bare to a fault and the food reminded me of the gruel that Oliver Twist was served. The Doctors, nurses and social workers pay no regard to your input. They come up with a game plan and stick to it despite the side effects it may cause and then they still refuse to make any changes. The Doctors are haughty, the age old "Doctor is god" complex. One Doctor, Dr. Anatoly Vasilov, is a prime example of that. He changed some of my medication and added a new one to the regime. My pharmacy, as required, has been calling him every day since the beginning of last week (it is now Friday of the following week) to ask him a few questions about the new medication. I have been calling him since Tuesday of this week. All the calls have gone to his voice mail and he has not responded to any of them. What is the sense of putting me on a new medication if he won't take two minutes to make a call to the pharmacy so I can get the medication? This behavior is the overall type of behavior of the staff. They just don't care. Patients are threatened with commitment on a daily basis as a means to regulate behavior. This is not particuarly helpful. Patients will only tell the staff what they want to hear for fear of being committed. I can go on and on about how awful Carrier Clinic is and how detrimental it will be to your mental health if you check yourself in there. But I won't. You probably get the gist from all the other reviews as well. What I will say is that my mental health is worse now, and getting worse on a daily basis, than it was the day I checked in. If you or a loved one is thinking of going there for treatment, don't. You will leave there far worse off than when you went in and you'll be miserable the entire time you're there. Going to Carrier Clinic is too much of a risk to take with your mental health. read more

When compared to other inpatient psychiatric facilities in the area, Carrier Clinic serves their patients beyond expectations. The grounds of the facility are beautiful, due to it's location in a mountainous, wooded area. Patients can earn grounds privileges (the ability to walk among the grounds, unsupervised) after a few days of participating in their treatment, showing motivation for treatment, and being deemed safe by their psychiatrist. It's definitely far from a prison. Voluntary patients may sign themselves out after being deemed safe by their psychiatrist (no risk of harming self or others). Staff does it's best to encourage independence and autonamy for patients while keeping safety as a priority. Staff at Carrier are phenomenally caring and considerate. Every hospital has a staff member here or there whose personality may clash with yours, but Carrier keeps a focus on delivering compassionate care. The unit directors are always available to hear your complaints if you have any issues with your treatment team or treatment plan. There's a patient advocate available if you've gone to the unit director and you still haven't had your needs met. Staff is trained in Handle with Care, a restraint technique that put the patient's safety first should there be a need for that. There is security patrolling the campus, maintenance available daily if there are any problems on units, and a treatment team that discusses your goals daily so you can have a strong plan for life after discharge. Group counselors provide a full day schedule of group therapy, ranging from recreation groups like karaoke to processing groups like grief management. Social workers plan your aftercare and help you find the right rehab/intensive outpatient/partial hospitalization/outpatient psychiatrist - whatever you prefer and works best for your lifestyle. At Carrier you will learn coping skills to better manage your mental health once you return home. The facility also has the Blake Recovery Center on campus, which is a newly constructed/renovated detox and rehab facility. Every room has a TV on Blake! Unfortunately, Carrier can only provide care as approved by insurance. Best sure to vote for healthcare policies what have mental health Care in mind! read more

My sister was admitted her. Put in with the seniors. She was so medicated she probably didn't know what was happening. She did not shower for weeks and I guess they can't make you. She was in a depressive state and stayed in bed for weeks. Stay clear of this place. This facility stinks. read more

Called to have a family member admitted for alcohol dependency. Was just trying to give the basic info and insurance and start the process. To say the admissions lady was not helpful is an understatement. Basically told me "have the person call or we won't take the information". Actually was blown away by Lenas non caring attitude. Absolutely horrible. It did me no good at all. While I was there, no one observed me or talked to me to figure out what was wrong. When they found out that I was scared of my doctor, their solution was to have the doctor smile at me, give me meds, and discharge me. They didn't bother to do any follow ups. Later, when I tried contacting them to find out information about my stay, I hit stone walls. They don't use emails, ignore online form submissions, and calling is no help. Receptionists for HMH in general told me that Carrier Clinic does not exist. Calling Carrier Clinic directly redirected me to Medical Records, and Medical Records never picks up and forces you to leave a voicemail even during their working hours, and they never reply to your voicemail. I've tried to reach them for months to ask questions about my stay there, and I got nothing. If I could visit them in person, I would, but I have a feeling that even if I did that, I would still get nothing. Ultimately, they did nothing to solve my medical problems and caused me further trauma. read more

i have little info about this facility my son was transfered here yesterday. i called to see if he arrived, staff i spoke to had no idea,checked said not yet. i called hospital which transferred him . called me back and confirmed he was there after speaking with someone there. now it' saturday afternoon why wasn't he met by a social worker then not having to wait til monday, who knows when. also why to i have to make visitation through a social worker?what are the hiding?also spoke to my son this morning sunday. he told me he didn't think this facility was helpful i,called staff this morning there biggest concern was that i had their direct phone number. compassionate care seems to be missing. read more

Carrier Clinic is not the same since Hackensack Meridian took over. A family member was there is 2017 and it was a wonderful experience for him. Patients could go to the dining room and play cards. Go off the unit and explore the beautiful grounds. It felt happy when you went on the unit. He was there again recently and its feels sad and pathetic. Patients cannot leave the unit at all. They eat all meals on the unit. Patients pace the hallway all day and it feels like an insane asylum. EVERYTHING has to be approved, even a weighted blanket. Thank god my son connected with a wonderful nurse.He was moved to a different unit and his room FOUR times because he couldn't sleep with all the chaos. His experience there was traumatic. People screaming at night saying they want to die or just screaming in general. If my family member needed inpatient mental health help, I don't think I would want to send them to Carrier. Hackensack Meridian needs to reevaluate their methods of treating patients because it could be so good. It was good. Now, not so much. read more

First I would like to say that carrier clinic saved my life. I was referred to the clinic for a serious addiction problem. The intake process was as comfortable as they could make it under the circumstances. The staff were very understanding about what I was going through.my counselor was very attentive and helped me to understand what I had to do if I wanted to stay clean and live a better life. The groups were informative and interesting. The nurses were kind and let me know exactly what each medication was for and how it would help me with the withdrawal symptoms. The drs were understanding and had good bedside manner.my counselor set up a great aftercare program near where I live. I still attend it today.i was in blake for 18 days and my copays was $1,900 witch was paid by carrier clinic with funds they have people who cant afford to pay due to circumstances beyond their control. This place is the WORST PLACE you could go to or send your child there. I stayed at the sunflower lodge for 1 and half years. Throughout my whole stay the staff were so unprofessional and rude. I have been bullied all my life so I go there expecting staff to help me with my problems with overcoming bullying but instead they go and do the exact opposite. They make fun of you ( in the room where everyone including residents can hear everything g they are saying ) for your struggles that brought you into that place. While I was there I had brought up to the supervisor MULTIPLE times and he did nothing about it. They barely feed you anything because they try to "promote a healthy lifestyle". I have struggled with an eating disorder all my life and everyone thought I was anorexic how little they feed us. And on top of that they MADE you work out 3 times a week and if you didn't you would get talked shit about and receive points. The whole point system is messed up because if you didn't eat breakfast you would get points. If you made a joke a staff didn't like you would get points. At this place there is a thing called lodge and activity restriction. Lodge is when you try to runaway or get restrained and you had to stay in the house till the therapist took you off. Activity restriction is when you do something in public not appropriate. If you got it you couldn't go on activities. I had received activity restriction twice. One for getting into a fight with another resident at the grocery store. Instead of trying to diffuse the situation the staff, her name is Sarah, yelled at us and started saying we were crazy. The other time I wore shorts to school and two staff, gabby and Sarah, went into my room while I'm still in it and dragged me out of my bed to get the shorts which I never got back. The way the spoke to me that day I will never forget. They spoke to me like I was a mentally challenged child. When we went out in public the staff wore their badges and told everyone they spoke to that they were watching us. Before coming here I was only on 2 medications. My stay they put me on 6 medications and they were all new ones. Come to find out the reason that they did that later on is so I would act a certain way to make me stay longer so they can receive more money from the state. Every month you are there they get more money. I was supposed to leave in 8 months and right before I was gonna leave they changed my medications and I ended up staying there for over a year. One staff told me I looked like a zombie and he had never seen someone on that much medication. Everyone there was on at least 4 different medications. When u can call your family you only get 10 mins to talk to them and you can only talk to them once a day. They would call your family's number and you would pick up the phone through another line that didn't have any phone buttons on it. And if you took longer than 10 mins they would bitch at you to get off or give you points for not following directions. NEVER SEND YOUR KID HERE. My mom forced me to go here and I don't talk to her anymore. This place ruined our relationship and I came out of that place with more problems going in. This place is a joke and needs to get shut down. And it dosent help that this place gets lawsuit after lawsuit for fucking up kids mental health like this. It felt like a jail they had security driving up the whole campus and if you tried to escape they would restrain you. And this place is like in the middle of nowhere too. Staff are so unprofessional and the therapist Kathy would yell at you instead of trying to help you with your problems and that's the whole point of being a therapist!! Now I will forever hate the mental health industry because people are only in it for the money especially at this place. I forever have trust issues, depression and anxiety from this place. Not to mention they gave me 3 different mental disorders there that I don't have so they could put me on all this medication. If you go there you are basically a test dummy for all of their messed up practices. This place needs to be shut down and I will gladly do anything to shut it down. Absolutely horrible!!! The staff is rude including the doctor. The doctor also get so busy all the time to provide adequate service. As the for the treatment, horrible as the person below me said they don't focus on treatment they focus on games. I did not feel better at all after discharge but after completing treatment at GenPsych PC in Bridgewate I felt so much better. Definitely look for a different hospital read more

Carrier is the most unprofessional psychiatric facility I've ever been to. The staff members are incredibly condescending, miserable, and unempathetic. I don't think you could've hired worse to work on a mental health unit. I have severe insomnia and was unable to sleep for the entirety of my 6-day stay. I kept asking the nurse's station for something like melatonin to help me sleep, but instead they gave me about seven or eight Latuda's each night. This is considered by law an abuse of the drug and would be classified as malpractice. Carrier somehow has a horticultural therapist, but not a sleep therapist! The doctors only work on the weekdays and patients are left to care for their mental health struggles completely on their own for the weekends. I guess the lack of funding in the mental health care system is more important than the patients. Many of the "therapists" here are in fact not even therapists, but deluded social workers who hand out printed worksheets from Pinterest three times a day and avail believe they're making an impact in their patients lives. This entire experience was unbelievably traumatizing. Two years later and I still have nightmares about the stench of this place. read more

The photos are extremely deceptive -- it may look this way from the front, but the Adult Care unit was extremely run-down, and looks like a standard industrial hospital. Care was fairly non-existent, and was surprised by the divergence between the website/photos and reality. The staff were nice, but treatment was several steps below what I expected for a family member, and was floored by the run-down environment. Be very careful, and demand a visit, if you're evaluating it as a possible inpatient treatment for a loved one. read more
