What a great find in Iowa City. The menu is small but you will not be disappointed! I had the…read morefried chicken. It is honestly some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. Bf had the fried catfish, it was so good. Nice big pieces of fish. They cook the meat when you order so it takes around 25 minutes but it is well worth the wait. We had cabbage, baked Mac and cheese, yams, and cornbread. Everything was very good. We can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Portions were big. We also got the peach cobbler cinnamon roll to go I'm glad we did, it's delicious. The restaurant is nothing fancy but it's clean and they had some great older R&B music playing. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Royceann. She is an amazing woman and a delight to talk with. We will definitely be going back

We got the chicken wings, baked Mac and cheese, candied yams, and corn bread. The chicken wings took a little while to cook, but the wait was well worth it when we received the steaming hot and perfectly spiced and crispy wings! Delicious! The candied yams were very good and the corn bread and Mac and cheese were both pretty good as well. We will definitely be back on a Thursday to enjoy the fried tacos! The person working also came out and checked to make sure everything was good. There was a nice personal touch to the food and the whole experience. We also appreciated the location because it gave our son a fun little area to play in and stay occupied. He loved the puppet show and the whole space was just very inviting and clean. Can't wait to come back and bring and some friends!

Soul food from SweetiePie!! Cafeteria style seating. Very large. I chose fish and chicken with…read morecoleslaw and Mac/cheese. They are not big on seasoning which is fine by me as I limit my salt intake. The fish fried to absolute perfection. Chicken was juicy which is hard to find in most restaurants. Mac could use more mixed in cheese vs just on top but good. Coleslaw was outstanding. Yes, the lemonade is great. Different varieties available. The menu I found to be difficult to understand. It had to be broken down for me. Service was outstanding by the owner, kind lady. Plenty of parking, strip mall. I would definitely go again if ever passing through.

The space is cute and roomy enough to enjoy your food without feeling crammed--and trust me, you'll want to savor every bite. I had the fried chicken and catfish plate and thought the chicken was unbeatable. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The catfish was solid too, but I'd come back for the chicken alone. The sides? Generous portions and all the comfort you could want--just don't argue over them (or do, I won't judge). Now let me put you on to the real star of the show: the peach lemonade. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best I've ever had. Sweet, refreshing, and dangerously addictive. The staff makes the experience even better--friendly, warm, and genuinely funny. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like family even if it's your first time. Go here. Support them. Bring friends. Leave full and happy.

Great Soul food in the area. The cornbread that came with the platter was absolutely delicious and…read moreso moist. So often cornbread is dry but this was definitely not the case. The mac & cheese was also outstanding and it would match up with anything that I've ever ordered before. That is saying something because I have eaten a lot of Mac N Cheese! I did enjoy the red beans and rice because it is not a dish I get to eat often as it usually has pork in it but they had a non-pork variety and the owner threw in a sample for me! His version was not so much gravy but slightly more brothy and Very tasty and I really enjoyed the seasoning! We also ordered a small seafood gumbo and it also was tasty although I wish it had a bit more seafood but I understand that's an expensive product today. The wings were delicious while the fried fish was solid but not spectacular. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. We had ordered a lot of food because we wanted to taste a lot and we were not disappointed! It was definitely a bit on the pricier side but as a whole it was definitely a good choice to come to Pee Wee's! I dId want to add that the owner was incredibly generous, kind and talked to us extensively. It was really a nice touch particularly when he found out it was our first time coming. I love small businesses like this it was nice to be able to support their good work!!
