If Yelp let me, I would rate the Summit Center with ten perfect stars. That is the exactly what…read morethis conference center deserves and then some. I work for a Fortune 100 company in downtown Chicago. For years, we have held meetings at the Summit Center. The location is excellent - right on Michigan Avenue, easily accessible to public transportation for those who need to access to/from both O'Hare and Midway Airports. There are many excellent hotels within walking distance, not to mention attractions for attendees who are visiting from out of town. The service. You just cannot find better service anywhere. The staff is trained to be able to help out with anything you need--you never have someone tell you that helping you with your request is "not their job" and leaving you to wait for someone who can assist. They put their clients first and immediately take care of anything that is needed. One of the best things about having events at the Summit was that they anticipated our needs - they seemed to know what I would need before I even had the chance to ask. The Summit staff takes the time to get to know you and the needs specific to your group. Because of the relationship they established with my company and me, they knew how I preferred my rooms to be set up, what types of food my picky people would eat, and were always flexible with our last-minute requests. The meeting space. If you want to take a client or your meeting participants to a place that will wow them, go to the Summit. The meeting rooms are beautiful. Often when you go to a conference center, the rooms can start to look shabby and dull. The rooms at the Summit are brightly lit with large windows, there are inspirational quotes on the colorful walls. No cheap banquet chairs here - all of the chairs are comfortable, ergonomic chairs. The a/v equipment is modern and the internet speed is probably faster than what we have in our office. The food. You definitely won't lose any weight or ever go hungry. The per person cost includes breakfast, a morning snack, a lunch and an afternoon snack. There is always something healthy to eat or something a little sinful (fresh cookies every day). The food is soooo good. The chefs do an amazing job of cooking for small to large groups and the food is always fresh and delicious. I don't think you could NOT have seconds. The Summit Center's owner, Louise Silberman, has created an amazing team. They are all passionate about providing customer service and making sure your event/meeting exceeds your expectations. Kudos to the Summit!

The building itself was very secure and offered dining selections. On our floor, we were welcomed with unlimited beverages, including, but not limited to coffee, tea, soda. I love coming to this Industrious in the heart of Wicker Park on Division. Jules, the community…read moremanager is awesome, and so are the other staff I've met. My company is based out of another industrious in chicago, so I simply register for an open space online through the member portal before I come to this location (much closer to home). This location is substantially smaller than the others downtown, but it's never been crowded when I'm here. Minus 1/2 star because the phone booths (by the bathroom) are not very well insulated, but they did recently install two new recording-booth looking modular phone booths across the outdoor bridge. If you've never been to an Industrious, it's a co-working space where your organization can secure an office space, rent conference rooms, and/or utilize any open spaces (for free) in any industrious (nation-wide). Can't rattle off their rates off the top of my head, but I'd recommend checking out their website. I've loved having access to their spaces as a mostly remote employee for a small-medium sized nonprofit.

Local Industrious team is good (Jules is the best), location is amazing (only good spot in Wicker…read morePark), and the office is always in decent shape. Amenities feel like they have trailed off a bit over the past year, and those without dedicated offices will experience some minor issues (limited number of call booths, call booth lights turn off randomly without a couple of minutes of steady (read: exaggerated) movement). The real issue for me, however, is the sales team. They are unhelpful and rigid, and take a short sighted view towards customer relations. I had an unexpected change in location circumstances 3 weeks before my 12 month lease was set to go into effect. Because Industrious' sales team has a 60 day notice requirement, they required me to pay the entirety of the 12 month lease in full. No negotiated solution was offered - they were not willing to convert me to month-to-month, would not entertain my early release offers, and didn't even suggest a like for like exchange of leases in a new location. So, as a customer, beware that if you have any changed circumstance (even one where you can provide essentially full, 12 months of notice), Industrious will seek to extract full value from you. Passing along as this would have changed my calculus when determining whether to enter into a month to month (at an extremely high premium) or longer duration at the beginning.

We wanted a professional office with a more neighborhood feel that is accessible to our south side Chicago clients. When University CoWork opened last year, we immediately closed our expensive downtown office and got a $95 flexible membership, and then upgraded to a $295 dedicated desk. This allows us to do occasional work on the south side of Chicago. We now have a professional presence, and can meet our clients at our office closer to where they work and live. I love the phone and meeting rooms. Great technology. We are able to offer our clients parking and coffee in our beautiful new space. Our firm also hosts investment events in the University CoWork boardroom, classroom, and event spaces. The video wall with intrgrated speakers is a crowd pleaser. The first financial services firm in Woodlawn in decades, I particularly enjoy bringing knowledge related to investments and retirement accounts to the neighborhood. Dozens of people who have attended our talks have learned about and set up tax-friendly retirement accounts as a direct result of being exposed to this information. The facility and business / nonprofit community are unmatched. The other members have complimentary areas of expertise. Many have become vendors, clients, and friends. I have learned about branding, how to build business credit, social media, and even how to use art to engage people.
