She is approachable and friendly. 156th St. School is also academically the best you are going to get in a public school in the surrounding areas. We have been blessed to have had our children at a place that builds a good foundation for the students. Great School!!!!!

I have been having a very unpleasant experience with this school. This isn't my children's home…read moreschool thankfully but it is their summer school. Therefore I would have expected better attitude from all the staff. They are rude along with the principal. Asking them a simple question seems nearly impossible, the lady seemed fustrated with all the parents. Drop offs as well they dont open the gates until 8 so have all the students and parents waiting. Got a call my student wasn't enrolled and then that she was. Very unorganized, summer school shouldn't be held at this school.

The teacher never communicated with me when I had questions and a few times her things were lost. The lessons were not age appropriate for her age (2 years old) and would have been better for a 4 year old. My sister sent her autistic foster sons here and one was going to receive services provided by the state and the school would not accommodate them. They refused and then kicked the boys out because they didn't "fit in" with their "Christian" standards. I wish I was more vocal about this sooner and hope others don't go through this either. My daughter attended when she was two, about two years ago and this has always been at the back of my mind and heavy in my heart.

For math, you should consider taking Mr. Yamachika's classes, if interested. He teaches math in a very interactive way which will catch most student's attention and hopefully your child will excel in math like mine did. I can only refer teachers based on the ones we personally knew but you should rest assured knowing that your child will SUCCEED here if he/she WISHES TO DO SO. One thing I do regret is not enrolling/following-up on the Magnet program here while my son attended Peary but he did take AVID classes. That is an alternative program if you missed the application deadline for Magnet. Please take advantage of all the programs LAUSD has to offer. It is our responsibility as parents to do our part as well. Sadly, there are many negative reviews here - please do not let that discourage you. It's all up to your child. I believe in this school so much so that I have enrolled my daughter into the Magnet program at Peary. She just started her first day yesterday. Let's go Huskies! I strongly suggest that you go to another place to have your children. The staff at this location was unprofessional rude, and seemed to be taking out their bad days on everyone. Staff retraining is needed. Additionally, it's concerning to see that there are individuals on staff who display racist behavior. It ended up being one of the best decisions we could have made. At ECMSG, the Dean and his team did an incredible job holding my son accountable for his negative behavior while also recognizing and reinforcing his positive efforts. That balance truly helped him get back on track. Because the school is smaller, there is much more individual attention and staff really pay attention to the details. The supervision staff genuinely care about the students and build healthy, supportive relationships with them. On days when my son wasn't feeling his best, he could easily request a check-in with the counseling team, which made a huge difference. The office staff is always warm and welcoming. They consistently go above and beyond their job descriptions. The school also provides strong support for parents by clearly explaining the grading system and offering tutoring to help students stay on top of missing assignments. The Special Education department is patient, accommodating, and incredibly supportive. The Principal is highly involved not only with the students, but with the surrounding community as well. He builds meaningful relationships with the kids and truly listens to parents. He has an open-door policy and never makes you feel like your concerns aren't important, which was very different from our previous experience. Their outdoor education program is another highlight. The students learn hands-on skills and how to solve real-world problems in meaningful ways and we get invited to come hear the kids present on their learning. I am extremely pleased with our experience and highly recommend ECMSG to any family looking for a smaller, supportive school environment where students are truly seen and supported.
