Five stars: the best car-buying experience I've ever had…read more I never thought I'd write a glowing review for a car dealership, but Capistrano Volkswagen is the very best. Chuck was helpful, communicative, and accommodating from start to finish. There was no pressure and none of the fuckery I've come to expect at car dealerships. He was consultative rather than pushy, and he helped me get exactly the car I wanted. He's also knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what he sells, which made the whole process feel friendly and effortless. I drove two hours south from LA in Friday traffic, and the trip was worth it. I got a tour of the facility, a cup of coffee, and everyone welcomed my dog. Even the finance guy was great. I drove off the lot in an awesome car with business cards from everyone who helped me. I even got a one-of-a-kind, hand made, VW branded keychain created by a local artist. I'll absolutely be back, and I'll send my friends. Highly recommend this team! Big thank you to my man Chuck - thanks for your support and for getting me in a great car. After dropping it off at 8:00 a.m., I received no updates all day and had to call near closing time. I was told the work was complete and the car had been washed. When I picked up the vehicle the next day, I was charged $160.95 for the oil change and inspection. However, there was no inspection report in the paperwork and no technician inspection video, both of which are normally provided. A service advisor could not find documentation showing the inspection had been performed and promised that Brad (the service provider that filled my service order) would contact me. He never did. After several unanswered calls, I eventually spoke with Corey, the Service Manager. He confirmed there was no record of an inspection being performed and apologized. He offered to have the inspection completed and include a complimentary car detail if I would give them another chance. When I later called to schedule that appointment, my call was not returned. To make matters worse, shortly afterward my "Change Oil" light began flashing, indicating the reminder had not been reset. Because there was no record of the inspection, the vehicle was not washed as promised, multiple messages went unanswered, and the oil-change reminder was never reset, I was left questioning whether all of the services I paid for had actually been completed, including the oil change. What disappointed me most was not the mistake itself, but the lack of follow-through and communication. After years of being a loyal customer, I expected better. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Both were professional and easy to work with, and I was very happy with the purchase and the deal. Unfortunately, the post-delivery experience was disappointing. I discovered cosmetic issues shortly after delivery, and to Coastline's credit, they agreed to address them. The final door repair came out excellent--I honestly cannot tell it was ever repaired. Getting to that result, however, took several weeks, multiple trips totaling over 200 additional miles, fuel and toll expenses, and inconsistent communication that often required me to reach out for updates. The worst part was the dealer-provided loaner. I reported electrical/startup problems and requested a replacement, but the Jeep ultimately broke down and left me stranded in the middle of the desert for nearly three hours. I had to arrange my own transportation, including having someone drive approximately 120 miles to pick me up. After everything was completed, I reached out regarding the overall experience and possible goodwill for the additional inconvenience and expenses. I was disappointed with management's response and no additional consideration was provided. Overall, Coastline deserves credit for ultimately correcting the original issues and for the excellent quality of the final repair. The initial sales experience was also very good. Unfortunately, the communication, loaner experience, and overall customer care afterward fell well short of expectations.
