Wyevale Garden Centres
(1 review)
Wyevale is a chain of garden centres, and the local one to Warrington is at Bold Heath close to…read morePenketh, Widnes and St Helens. It's quite prominent on the main road so if you visit it, you can't miss it. It's got quite a large car park but can get very busy in there on weekends. Product wise, it's got a really good choice and is a nice place to come and have a look around even if you don't want to get anything as you can easily pass an hour or so here. First off when you get in there's a coffee shop which does a range of snacks and some meals. It's not cheap in here but there are plenty of seats and the foods ok. Inside the rest of the garden centre you have giftware, books, magazines, some sweets and food, pet supplies and garden items such as lawnmowers etc. Outside is quite big and they do a large range of plants and shrubs, most of the shrubs are arranged alphabetically in rows, and the plants are split into types, however I would say have a good walkabout as things aren't always obvious. There is a water gardens and pond/aquatic section too with a really good choice of fish, accessories and tanks. You can also pick up garden pots (and they often have some on offer), ornaments, stepping stones etc that are a bit different. The staff here are pretty helpful, we've asked them before when buying lawnmowers and they've put one aside for us while we've been at work. Prices are not too bad, and the quality seems pretty good. For those people into crafts, there is a separate concession inside the store that sells lots of crafting products, a wide range of papers, stamps, card making items etc.

What more can one ask? The last time I ate in the cafe, which can get very hot as its all glass, a robin was dancing across tables and saying hello to people. Unhygienic perhaps but great nonetheless. The food, as a rule, is lovely, but they stop serving hot meals at 2pm - unless you want to get stuff that's been sitting out, eat as close to then as possible. My fiancee and I bought a converter thingymajig for around two quid allowing us to turn run of the mill 2 litre plastic bottles into birdfeeders. An invention of Dragons Den proportions, and a handy way of not spending a bundle on containers to feed tits and things. For gardeners this place is a must, in my opinion. Its one drawback, I think, the toilets are a bit of a trek from the cafe. For pensioners or those with mobility issues, this can prove a problem.

But I do find garden centre relaxing and Rivendell is no different, maybe it's the sounds of water features. Rivendell offer a great selection of a great many things. The books in particular are always very reasonably priced. The cafe is sweet, full of old dears and never too expensive. And there Christmas displays are always lovely. To get into the garden centre on during the festive season you have to walk through a snowy path where they display all their trees. They do also sell real Christmas trees outside.

They sell everything you can think of that's remotely hardware-ish and although the prices are more than, say, the supermarket, they're dead handy so you don't mind. They're reliably open, they have a lot of staff so can always serve you and advise you. They don't mind you bobbing in just for advice, even when you don't buy anything. There's usually some kind of parking along the nearby streets so that's not a problem. There's a reassuring smell of hardware-shop-timber when you walk in - its defintely a man's domain! Lovely.

First of all the company came out to my house to…read morequote me on my flooring, the sales man promised me they could lay my vinyl flooring all in the same direction. The fitters arrived on the day, they were very rude and they do not help to move anything if you can't move things yourself, they complain if they have to wait while you move things on your own. They then laid my flooring all in different directions. I complained and they said they would fix the mistake that had been made but not with out a big fight. They then came out 2 months later to fix the problem and laid two different coloured vinyl down, I complained once again and they said they would not fix it and that is what the vinyl is like and can never be matched in colour, I refused to accept that explanation and insisted they come and have a look, they came to look and agreed they would fix it and agreed I would get the darker vinyl that I liked. They came back today with the lighter vinyl and basically forced me to take a product I was not happy with and laid the flooring. They told me if I don't accept the vinyl as it is they would leave all the rolls of vynil at my house and they would not come back and fit it, basically they forced me into taking something I was not happy with. After they had finished fitting the lighter vinyl they left huge big cardboard rolls in my garden and left all the offcuts for me to dispose of, regarding the door bars, one of them is already loose and going to come off, they screwed my doors off and when putting one back on, they screwed it on incorrectly and it wouldn't close, I had to screw it off myself and re put it back up! Don't bother with this company as you will be disappointed and be treated badly when things go wrong! I have been patient with them and even with it being 3rd time lucky, I have not been lucky at all and I am still forking out a lot of money to pay for cheap quality horrible flooring which will probably not last, this has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had! Big company's like this should not be able to get away with treating people like this, it is shoddy workmanship and bad customer service. My advice is to AVOID
