I picked out the tile and carpet for the living room, hall and dining room; ceramic tile for the kitchen, foyer and sun room. This was a major purchased so I wanted a company that was in business for a long time. It took a few days for the owner to come and measure the rooms. We waited several days and I had to call back for the estimate. On March 20th I went to the store to put half down for the materials and they scheduled the appointment for the work to be done on April 10-11-12th. They never showed. I called on the 11th to see why they did not show for the appointment. They forgot to write it down and rescheduled the appointment on April 24-25-26th. On April 9th my husband and I moved all the furniture to the attached garage except the living room sofa, loveseat and chair which were in the dining room. All the furniture was out of the way for everything to be done in 3 days they had promised. The tile installers came on the 24th and the guys showed up around 1:00 p.m. to start (late in the day for a large job of tile to be done in one afternoon). The guys were running behind and it was getting late so they had to come back the 25th to finish installing the tile. We could not walk on the floor until the day of the grout (on the 26th.). The owner told one of the tile guys to take up the carpet from the living room and hall that the carpet installer was coming on the 26th. That did not happen. The carpet installer was not available. The tile installers were going to grout on the 26th (late afternoon again) when the carpet was to be installed. The second day we saw the kitchen floor I told them not to grout and to leave it for today and called the owner of the store and had him come out to check the terrible job they had done. The tiles were 12" x 24" and he just laid them down without measuring the distance from the cabinets and there were large tiles left of the cabinet and small tiles to the right side of the kitchen cabinets. They were uneven and toe kickers. I told the owner I was not happy with the job and that I wanted it taken out. He told me he would not charge me for the job if I wanted to keep it like that, I told him no that I wanted it done right. The owner came back the next day to rip up the kitchen floor, which my husband helped him take up so that we could get the job done. We were living without furniture and bare floors.
When we ordered the carpet and tile we asked if the installers were in-house installers and they told us yes. We got some fly-by-night workers that did not know what the heck they were doing. I was very upset. They assured us the next guy was good at tile work. The work was done with some balance but he was not one I would recommend either. His tile was laid ok but he never used spacers or leveled any of them either and his grout was different colors. We can live with it. He was also a subcontractor which was not supposed to be. They seem to come in and hurry up the job so that they can get paid. No one takes pride in their work. We were living in the living room and hall way with plywood floors while I had guest coming in from out of town. The carpet installer came May 3 to complete the job. He took pride in installing the carpet. He was the only in-house installer. He was great. Tile guys were subcontractors. The company owner lied. This 3 day event took approximately 24 days to complete. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY EVER! THEY ARE VERY DISORGANIZED AND UNPROFESSIONAL. They don't answer the phone during business hours or return calls. It was one horrible experience. I am a very patient person but this was to extreme. The one star was for the carpet installer. read more
