Wow so sad this place has such bad reviews. But sadly a lot of pet stores dont buy animals from reputable places. But I cant speak where this places purchases. We came in and saw cute lil piggies and ferrets. More in the store you see puppies (very pricey, some were $2300), bunnies, reptiles and fish. They has items that other stores dont have, but you pay the price. I give 4 stars because they were clean, friendly employees and a good selection of items. read more

I bought a puppy 7 years ago $1000.00 he was sick Seems all the puppy's were coughing as they slept. Took him to Appalachian Animal Hospital there in Morristown sure enough Naynay was very sick. I took him till he was better had all his vaccines. Trained him became a licensed service animal. We became best friends went everywhere together I loved him like no other taught him colors, how to count, Spanish even. So amazingly smart, easy going, last few months he started showing signs of Cushing disease it was breaking my heart I researched it no cure, tryed everything to try keep him comfortable, took him to a vet locally for blood test anything to help me. Everywhere I took Naynay couldn't or wouldn't even see him. Then the unthinkable my brother 2d one this year was in Hospital heartache. Naynay and I packed left that evening headed to California, 58 hours it took driving. We were 1 1/2 hrs late we list him... then headed to my mommas stayed 1 night left 12am headed to Pahrump NV, I had lived there 15 years surely a vet would see him hit Pahrump 9am stopped at first vet big fat no try this place hit every vet Naynay was in trouble needed a salin iv something I knew he was in big trouble nobody would listen. Advice was all they would give call 8 am they said I said he wouldn't make it till 8 am. I held my baby boy till he took his last breath last heart beat I kissed his little head cried lived you so very much my baby boy passed away in my arms. Today all I can say is I wish I could of helped him as much as he helped me even if it was for only 7 years 1 month. I found him 1 week after losing my other dog. This year I lost 2 brothers and 2 dogs. Would love another. read more

To start out let's point out the problems there were two Pied Veiled Chameleons in the first GLASS setup(which is way to small for even just one),There is also no dripping system just a water fall and not a single real plant. There is also no Thermometer or Hygrometer for temp or humidity, same stuff with the normal Veiled Chameleon but they had it in a horizontal habitat not a vertical one like they need and they had 3 LAMPS ON! Still no thermometer or hygrometer,And to make things even worse for them they had a WATER BOWL for him,Keep in mind chameleons don't drink still water because they can't tell it's water it has to be moving. I went to this store to just look around and found the chams and started talking to a worker about them (hoping he knew what he was talking about) then me and my fiancé went home and done hours on hours of research learning everything about these little guys. That's when we learned that the worker was telling us a bunch of false info. When we went back to buy him and the last few things we needed that only Carousel was carrying. And he tried to (argue) and tell us we was doing it wrong after I told him that we done all our research we know what we are doing he snickered and said good luck. After learning more about them I'm amazed that any of them are alive or better yet any of the animals in there are. Absolutely terrible conditions for anything. read more

Worst pet store on the planet. Do not go here. Employees are beyond rude and dumb. I came to buy a hedgehog and a wheel for him. I have done lits of research and i know that the wheel i chose was safe. Well the man working told me that wheel was bad and i should get a different one. Well, every hedgehog owner knows that the wheel he suggested would hurt or kill a hedgehog, so i told him this. He called me dumb and told me i was abusing my animal. He also told me to get a red light as a heat lamp. These are very harmful for hedgehogs as well... the sad thing was he said he raised and breed hedgehogs for years, but didnt even know basic things! They are also very overpriced. Ill never go near there again. read more

sick and dying animals. puppies are purchased from puppy mills. employees give terrible advice and their animals are not housed safely. much equipment being sold here is dangerous for animals. care guides are outdated. many birds wings are clipped incorrectly, snakes housed improperly, shrimp and fish tanks full of dead animals and improper filters- do not give them money. read more

I bought a puppy at 5 pm on a Friday paid $ 998 only to have to take him the the vet the next morning due to coughing and severe diarrhea. So that next morning at 9 am called the vet dr magnum ( a joke of a vet). the only vet you are able to go to had an appointment at 1 pm sat there for 2 hrs and 40 min only to walk out without being seen. now I am stuck with a sick puppy on a Saturday at 4 pm with my 3 other dogs. so Monday morning i will have to pay for a vet visit medicine and see if I need to treat my other dogs too now. so beware read more

A cat wouldn't respond to us even though it was awake. Then a turd of an employee tried telling us that cats sleep 20 out of 24 hours of the day when it's actually around 12 to 16. There were also a bunch of birds with their wings clipped and a huge one that was 1/4 the size of it's cage! read more

Very rude staff and if tou buy fish from them and they die when you take them back with a water sample they add extra ph drops to the water so they can say poor water quality so they dont have to replace the fish i dont even give them a 1star for review i would give a - 5 star but you cant post unless you choose a star read more

I feel sorry for the animals here. They dont know how to properly house and take care of most of them. They're selling axolotls that are to small to to be ready for purchase, several thrown in a tank together which isnt appropriate because they will nip each others limbs off, small gravel wiich they will suck in and get impacted, and I seriously doubt the water would be the correct temperature if it was checked. I wished I would've taken a picture. Its a shame. They dont like it if you tell them otherwise. A bunch of idiots just out for a paycheck. They sure dont have the pets best interest in mind. read more

They sell micro pigs, and I got into an argument recently with one of the store employees about micro pigs not being a specific breed, but are actually underfed pot-bellies to stunt their growth. 90% of pigs are rehomed or abandoned because these false claims. Once they realize their pig will indeed get to be over 100lbs, they're not longer wanted. As proof, here are several different sites to confirm that micro and teacup pigs do not exist and should not be sold as such. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/bad-news-petlovers-theres-no-such-thing-teacup-pig-180962275/ https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/shortcuts/2019/oct/18/big-porkie-why-do-we-keep-falling-for-the-myth-of-the-micro-pig http://www.petpigeducation.com/the-teacup-myth.html http://www.ahomeforhoovesfarmsanctuary.com/micro-pig-myth.html I would just like the current babies and any future baby pigs to be well taken care of and not underfed or abandoned because your store supports this myth and is providing false information to potential pig parents. Included is a picture of my "mini" pigs. One is still a baby at 4mo and probably 25-30lbs, the white one is a Julianna (known as a small micro breed) and is 4yo at 200lbs, the spotted one is another Julianna; 1.5yo and 175lbs. The red curly one is a Kunekune, 3yo and 125lbs. When fed a PROPER diet, these babies will get big. I just rescued the brown one because he was bought AT THIS STORE as a "micro" pig and gotten rid of because he got "too big" https://imgur.com/a/8thN5Fa read more

Rude, belligerent staff who act like they are experts on every topic, and will talk down to you even if you know what you're talking about.. called on the phone early in the day to ask about a chameleon. When I returned to the store later in the day, the same staff I talked to on the phone was rude af in person and treated me like I had no idea what I was getting into. I asked to see the chameleon be removed from the cage (partially so I could see his reaction to handling) mostly so I could purchase him, but she says they don't allow that because it will stress the animal.. meanwhile they are housing multiple adult male chameleons in a single 14x14x24 cage, and are worried about ME stressing the animal. These people have no idea what they're doing, do not care about they're animals, and only want your money. read more

The best pet store in the county! They sell cats, dogs, birds, pigs, crabs, and tons of more animals! They sell Barbie Dolls. They also sell tons of animal care products. Their selection of toys and cages are huge! Go here! They also sell treats and of course, food for your pets. Fish, snakes, spiders, and hamsters are also here. The employes are smiling, friendly, and cool. read more

I've done extensive research on hermit crabs, and it pains me every time i go in and see hermit crabs dead in their container. They have no substrate, the red light lamp is burning them, painted shells are toxic, the food they give them can't be properly digested by the crabs, and the sponges are breeding grounds for bacteria and diseases. You want a neglected animal that will die within two months because they aren't realistic about what it takes to care for them? Go to carousel. The lady at the front told me I didn't know what I was talking about when I explained to a customer that they aren't cheap easy pets and how much it would actually take to care for them. They need temperature and humidity controlled environments and having them in an open tank with no where to hide is why I'm able to point out at least three dead hermit crabs every time I step inside. read more

Worst employees (Eddie). Accused a friend of stealing and would not let her leave even with no proof and receipt for the item she did purchase at another store. Continued to yell at us and say we were going to jail even with no proof and was holding our friend In the store until the owner came and talked to us. At this point she was still trying to accuse her of stealing until we mentioned calling a family member who was a lawyer and another that was a police officer. It wasn't until this point she had a change of tone towards us and said there was no proof and we could leave. read more

Liars! A bunch of liars! I went in there to buy my first snake ever, so I called the lady there that day and told her I was coming there later to purchase the ball python. Don't ever call in orders/ purchases there. read more

Do you want your fish to all die? Then this is the place to shop, after getting 3 fish for my 5 year old daughter, 24 hours later one died, after they tested the water it was confirmed to be fine, a few days later they developed ich, I quickly treated them. No luck, after it was all said and done the other fish became infected and all died. I would not recommend Carousel Pets. read more

If I could give this store a ZERO I would flat out do so! A young lady, also meek and petite, was shopping for her pet. The owner of this store approached her and flat out accused her of stealing. Telling her "I know what you are doing" loudly and rudely. This young lady pulled out her receipt and the item she was accused of stealing and openly showed her. She began to get upset and crying at the embarrassment put upon her in the store. Eddie, the over dramatic employee, inserted himself into the situation making it MUCH worse. He had NO IDEA what he was even talking about with his head bobbing and showing no ability to be professional. The owner showed no respect to this young lady. When her friends arrived, she changed her tune realizing how supportive and disappointed the ladies were in the owners behavior and the other employee. This behavior has nothing to do with Covid. This was a horrible display of bullying behavior by an owner and "supposed" manager. The. Most. Unprofessional place of business and lack of care for another human being I have ever seen! The young lady was horrified and upset and the owner showed ZERO compassion until her friends showed up and decided with witnesses, she changed her tune, I can't imagine how these poor animals are treated when no one is watching either, when we can't even treat a human being with compassion. Sad day in America and Morristown, Tennessee. read more

They clearly don't care about their animals. They knowingly house male and female animals together and don't provide vet care for any of them. All they care about is the sell. read more

The WORST customer service ever!! They are nothing but liars who care nothing about the animals they sell and ONLY about the money they are making. My son bought a piglet in Oct., they didn't tell him a single thing about how to care for it or even what kind it was-just took his money, gave him the pig, and threw his receipt away. We really couldn't keep a pig at our house so first my son called about returning it and was told we could but could not get a refund-only store credit. They took his name and number and were going to call after they sold another pig and had a space for her but never did. Every time either one of us would call (which was about 5 times a week) they always had an excuse why we couldn't bring her back yet (they just got a new batch of pigs or that she wouldn't get along with the piglets they already had in the store, which I don't believe for a minute since pigs are social animals and she gets along perfectly with our two dogs and cat). The guy kept leading us on and was usually very rude on the phone. We finally gave up, which is what I'm sure they were hoping we'd do and then last week my son went in the store and asked when we could bring Petunia back (knowing full well that we wouldn't even if they did say we could) and the guy was so rude and said it was too late and that they never said they would call us-that WE had to call THEM. They are just a bunch of liars who tell customers what they want to hear but don't follow through on their word and are only interested in the money they make-not if the animal is going to have a good home or not. We love Petunia more than anything but just don't have room for a pig that is going to be at least 150 lbs. read more

I visited the store today trying to return rainbow fish that had died over night. They have a 24 hour return policy as well as a no refund/exchange only policy and a water test with any returned fish. The sales lady claimed that our PH was to high but did not have a high test kit to prove it was to high. There was no ammonia, the nitrites were fine and the Nitrates were low - she then accused us of bringing in tap water because we had no ammonia and low nitrites in the water. We have tons of live plants in the tank so our tanks cycle wonderfully. She refused to honor the return policy because I was "nasty". I was not nasty, i just tried to explain to her that the town we live in has weird water and the Aquarium Connection who are WONDERFUL told us our PH was fine and only mess with PH in extreme circumstances as it needs to be left alone unless really, high or low. She pulled out a book on rainbow fish and read it out loud to me that the PH was to high. I have a very bad pain disorder and have to walk with a cane, the walk from the car into the store makes me hurt badly, so my labored breathing. red face and hard time keeping my balance may have made her think I was "nasty" when speaking to her. I would never, ever recommend anyone shop in this store as they can and will refuse to honor the exchange policy if you have a problem, even if they have to falsify the water tests to do it. I never should have called before we drove the hour to get to the store to return the fish, as she knew before we got there that she wasn't going to exchange them. it was money down the drain and paying cash, we have no recourse but to warn others to not shop there. I tested the PH with the high range test kit when we got home and it tested 7.4, so i am sure she falsified or used dirty test tubes to test the water. Beware and only use a Credit Card if you do have to shop there so that you can dispute the charge. read more

A baby potbelly piglet was recently bought here from Carousel Pet Store in Morristown TN, where the owner and her son breeds miniature pigs and sells them in her pet store. They are pulled from the mother anywhere from 2 to 4 wks. Mostly or at least this little piglet was pulled from the mom at 3 wks and then sold when going on 5 wks. Four days after sale the piglet developed Ecoli and was treated for it. Then started having problem urinating. Straining a lot and then added cranberry juice and now is peeing normal, but still a little cloudy, but vet says it tests ok. Yet he put the female piglet on Ampicillin for 10 days. But since the day she was purchased, her stools have been black. Even through the Ecoli. Still black. Still staining to urinate but is doing it better. She was told by the owner of Carousel Pets to only feed veggies, fruit, yogurt and 1 tbl of pellets. Since increasing her food the proper way, she has gained a pound. We have several vets following her story and trying to get her healthy. Looks like this little piglet has a long road ahead of her. This is not a good breeder. Potbelly mini pigs should NEVER be pulled from the mother pig until at least 8-12 weeks of age and fed potbelly pig pellets twice a day, which you can find at any farm feed store or Tractor Supply for cheap. You should also feed a mini potbelly pig veggies mostly for lunch/snack and fruits only a few days a week. Mini potbelly pigs can grow betw 80-300 lbs normally with a healthy diet and can live for 15-20 years, so be sure you are ready for their big commitment. Be sure you already have a qualified vet who cares for pigs properly as not every vet is experienced treating pigs. Also be sure you are legally zoned to own a mini pig. Many many towns across the USA in every state have rules and often people find they are not legally zoned, and so many of them are forcibly removed from the home by the city. And lastly, do extensive research on owning a mini pig online. There are many websites that show how to properly care for a mini pig. read more
