This 3 star park offers a diverse playground, a splash park, shelter, a little league field, a skateboard park, and other things to be explored. For a small town this truly is a nice park that warrants 4 stars however, what prevents me from giving this turtle town park another shiny star is that there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of upkeep besides lawn mowing. Many of the playground equipment is well-loved having almost no paint left on them. There are lakes beneath the swings and a mote around the merry-go-round. Also I imagine there were wood chips at one time around the playground equipment but what's left now is mostly dirt, mud, and puddles if it's rained in the past 5 days. So do dress for the occasion and make sure your kids have an extra outfit in the car. What's great about this park is that much of the playground equipment that's torn from many parks is still here. It's seldom these days to see the spider-web bars and teeter-totters still in tact. Many adults deem these as too dangerous and old-fashioned but kids and kids at heart no that just isn't so and so city's across the nation have torn them out and replaced them with mediocre plastic playgrounds (which this park does have by the way). Please see my pics to see the playground equipment. Besides playground equipment there's a walking trail that goes through the park into the woods, there's horseshoes, and plenty of shade for those nice summer days when you want to have a picnic. I wouldn't go out of way to go here, but if you're in a neighboring town or live in 'turtle-town USA" I'm sure this park can fulfill a pleasant day for the kids and a relaxing treat for yourself.

Promenade Park opened in 2019 as the first phase in Fort Wayne's Riverfront Fort Wayne project. Main features include Canoeing and Kayaking, a very cool fountain, games, a pavilion, picnic tables, an amazing playground, a snack bar, a stage, trails and, of course, water. The park is relatively small at 4 acres, but they really have laid it out beautifully and they have quite a bit here. Promenade Park is a KultureCity.org Sensory InclusiveTM Certified Venue. Accessibility features include accessibility to the trails, kayak/canoe launch, main entrance, picnic areas, playground (ground level play features), an accessible restroom, accessible signage, accessible swings, accessible water fountains/bottle fillers, and more. Accessible parking is available along Wells Street (adjacent to the pavilion). The garden area is designed specifically to provide visual and sensory separation. There's tactile ribbon embedded in the pavement throughout the park (this helps people who are blind/low-vision). Pathways are extra wide and can accommodate multiple wheelchairs. Honestly, I was blown away here and so thrilled I took the time to stop and check this out. I'm likely planning an event in Fort Wayne soon, and there's no question I'll be returning to this beautiful urban park.

I also was surprised at the foot worn paths between the numerous statues, gazebos, the shelter, and other flower beds and trees. At first, I thought it looked like a fun place (especially when you take in the view of the railroad path to the west that includes a bright mural). But upon closer look, I could see the park could use a tasteful eye to edit what was included, maybe bring a bit of uniformity. There are lots of statues, mostly small and white, but some are bronze and some are concrete deer. It is clearly not a playground park, but I suspect it's meant to appeal to kids to create focal points throughout the park for holiday decorations. It's kind of whimsical, but not especially peaceful and relaxing. There was no sign posted for parking though I read another review that says you can park in a lot on Gano. Since there is a shelter and the gazebos, it makes me wonder if the park gets any use throughout the year or only during the holidays when decorated. During my visit on a warm spring day, there wasn't anyone else around. Review #2480

So, I went while in town visiting and not knowing it has been around for many years. This event takes up about a block. There is free park in a lot on Gano road. Hooped walking paths are constructed. You can drive/ride through to see some of the displays. However, I recommend you get out (maybe without infants) during a dry and not muddy evening to see all the wonderful lights and take in the fresh air. I have a few favorite displays, but really liked the moving carousel with stuffed bears.

Be sure to bring sunblock because unfortunately the toddler area is in the sun whereas the older kid area has lots of shaded areas. If you get hot, the water park is nearby. According to the city's website, Lebanon Memorial Park is Lebanon's first all-inclusive park. What…read moredoes that mean? It means that the playground was designed for children of all abilities, so there's something for most everyone. Much of the playground equipment can be accessed by wheelchair users and children with limited mobility. There's also an inclusive swing set with harnesses, a ground-level merry-go-round with an adult push handle, and wheelchair-accessible playground structure with ramps. Not all of the playground is equally accessible, but the newer parts are. Some of the other features of the playground include a geometric rope climbing structure, slides (including tube slides), and swings (toddler swings and a tire swing). Parents with young children will appreciate that there is a fenced playground here! Those are hard to find. This helps contain kids who like to run off, and keeps them within their adult's eyesight. The playground also has exercise equipment near the playground, including an elliptical and rowing machine. Seashore Waterpark is located in Memorial Park, and it is open seasonally -- typically from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The waterpark has a zero-depth entry, and pools that go to 3 feet deep, plus water slides, an oversized bucket that spills out, a lazy river, a water walk and a wave pool. There's a little cabin on the park grounds, which is a space you can rent out for parties and such. The cabin has a full functioning bathroom, refrigerator and two fireplaces. There are also six picnic tables inside the cabin, as well as four tables outside of the cabin. Other things you'll find at Memorial Park are picnic shelters, a pavilion, pickleball courts, basketball courts, baseball field and volleyball courts. There is a lot of fun at this little park.
