We hired Carol Shaw to come to our place twice a day for 3 days to feed and water our chickens and 6 miniature donkeys, She came out to our small farm the afternoon before we left town and my husband showed her exactly what we wanted done, even though she had taken care of them several years ago. We asked that when she visited in the morning around 8 AM, she let the chickens out of the caged area so they could be out in their fenced yard, give donkeys and chickens fresh water, 2 flakes of hay for the donkeys and get the chicken feeders down and put a small amount of chicken feed in each feeder - place one feeder outside the cage and the others inside the cage. During afternoon visit around 4pm she was to feed the donkeys 2 flakes of hay, freshen all drinking water, herd the chickens out in the yard back into the caged area and lock the door so raccoons could not get to the chickens during the night. She was supposed to hang the feeders from the ceiling of the cage so rodents could not get into them. What Carol actually did while "caring" for our pets was appalling. Due to some car trouble, we returned home a day earlier than we had planned to find the chickens out of their yard and digging up our garden, no water for donkeys or chickens, gates opened that we stressed should remain closed at all times, all the eggs still in the nests and the donkeys braying because they were hungry. Carol had deliberately opened the gates to let the donkeys into the chicken yard because she did not want to come out in the mornings to feed them and she thought they would graze there instead. We had stressed that only small amounts of chicken feed should be put out to prevent attracting a range of wildlife. After speaking with neighbors in our informal neighborhood watch, and our farm hand who helps us with cleanup, our suspicion that Carol had defrauded us when she claimed she had made the four visits to our farm and done the work she agreed to do was confirmed. If we had not returned early, we would have come home the next day to little donkeys foundering on all that chicken feed that Carol put out. We couldn't believe that Carol had put our animals in such danger and then tried to lie about it - evening allowing the farm hand to be blamed for the open gates. She had left the chicken's caged area open all night both nights even though we told her that raccoons would get in if she did. Carol did not gather any eggs and we had to throw them all out because she left them in the warm hen house, with hens sitting on them for two days and they had begun to develop. Carol demonstrated her complete lack of scruples with her deceit and I feel that she is a complete fraud. We have had many sleepless nights after hiring Carol, just thinking about or sweet little donkeys suffering the painful death of founder and our chickens ripped to pieces by raccoons. We would have been better off to leave our animals home alone than we were to have Carol Shaw "caring" for them. Such total disregarrd for the wellness and safety of our animals and for us having to endure the consequences of her fraud is inexcusable. read more

I wouldn't trust anyone else with my Chihuahua Caesar! Carol treats all of her charges like a member of her own family. I highly recommend placing your pet(s) with her on your next weekend getaway or extended vacation. read more
