Purchased a generator two months ago from CE. Kohler top of line. A few days before a pending storm it fails due to overcrank. Called Carolina - who said that they have 200 calls pending with same problem and cant get to me. Hey you took my $18K and left me with nothing. We have a service contract with this company. They have not returned a call in two weeks. No call no show on the two appointments they made. This company bought Continental Engine which was a great company. We enjoyed a 15 year relationship before Carolina Energy. You just leave message after message with no response. read more

Use another company! We purchased our generator from Carolina Energy Systems. We also paid their expensive annual maintenance for four years. The first time we had a problem was when the generator would not start during the recent ice storm. I called Carolina Energy systems to get a service tech to to look at the problem. They scheduled us for a call 32 days later. They are great taking your money for an expensive oil change on a sunny day, but don't expect them to show up if you ever need them! read more

This company is a ripoff. Expensive as hell to show up for 5 minutes for a gas leak to be told that's normal after the gas co said the readings that they took were a bit high but not high enough to cause an explosion as it's outside. But was advised to have company come by and see if something is abnormal. Unit less than 2 years old and under warranty. Tech came out, sprayed the outside gas fittings, said no leaks. Next I get a bill for $200.00 plus tax for a 5 minute drive by. read more

This contractor was given a referral from Generac for a backup generator. I have installed these at previous homes, so I'm familiar with the process and pricing. My new home is ideally suited for a simple installation. The location is immediately adjacent to the electric panel and fuel source (natural gas). The appropriate sized generators are less than $4500. This contractor somehow believes the work to install this generator should bring $12000! Nope, I'm not a rube. read more

I tried to deal with them, salesman Willy.........they lied and didn't show up for 1st appointment. I never called them again! I ordered my system online from Rocky Mountain Generator Supply......nicest people in the world.....they treat you like gold so far......very helpful with getting the order placed, answered all questions I had and are trying to get my order split shipped as items come available.....at their expense. In the process of getting a generator installed at our house, I attempted to do business with Dale Blythe at Carolina Energy Systems in Penrose, as they are certifed Kohler dealeres. They turned out to be very difficult people to deal with. Refused to assist with a Kohler generator, because I didn't buy the system from them. When I first called in January looking for a Kohler dealer to buy from, Dale was very condescending and dismissive, saying he couldn't get to me until July, and not being helpful with questions in determining what I needed. I ended up buying my system on-line, and was going to buy my battery from them, and have them do the initial startup. When I asked for their technical expertise in determining what kind of load shed equipment would work best (and offered to pay them for their time and consultation), his son Aaron basically refused to assist, and then when I had to postpone the initial setup, Dale told me that I should take my business elsewhere, that they would not assist me in any way, because I didn't buy the system from them. They're a very poor representative for the Kohler company, and I will be making Kohler aware of that fact. The opposite of helpful and neighborly. Avoid - there are lots better people to deal with. read more
