I don't like to leave bad reviews but feel this could save someone else the trouble I went through. Purchased a Lexus here that had a check engine light on- we were very skeptical about this but the owner made it clear he had his mechanics try to find the issue multiple times and if anything was wrong they would have found it and fixed it before listing for sale. Test drove the vehicle down the road and it drove fine, was extremely clean. We came back to purchase it the next week and someone had keyed the side of the vehicle. Red flag again, but I felt the owner was an honest guy. Purchased anyway because I had already gotten the money from the bank and committed assuming it was in the same condition (my fault) Three days in the car was overheating and a week later was misfiring. I called him back to tell him what it was doing and made sure again that there were never any symptoms along with the check engine light while he had it- which he again said no. Said the car never gave them any issues other than the check engine would come off and on but that was it and that they personally had drove the vehicle in the time they had it and never had issues. He did tell me if there was anything he could do to help to let him know. But my fault again- I bought the vehicle as is only. Car lasted only a few weeks before breaking down on the side of the road with a cracked head. The mechanics who looked at it said there is no way the seller and especially his mechanics couldn't have known because of the issues it had immediately after buying and found traces of some type of stop leak in the coolant system. Wish I would have seen all the other reviews before purchasing here. Joe himself was super kind, personable and charismatic, and I trusted him on that. But now I am without a vehicle unless I fork out over $5000 for repaired heads, radiator, thermostat, and heating coil. Pretty bummed as I planned to have this one last me for a while. Joe was always very nice each time we spoke, was very respectful, and seemed like someone who would shoot you straight, so I trusted him to be honest with me but it's apparent he just wanted the sale. If you purchase here be leery and have a mechanic on site with you to inspect before committing to a sale.

All the warning lights that came on the dash when I got the car home from the dealer day of purchase.

Tyrone called me early Monday morning after the Technicians finished up their diagnostic and said it was the torque converter and the transmission, but they wouldn't be able to start it for 6-8 weeks. My wife uses this car pretty much 7 days a week, so this was not great news. So, to keep our spot in line we just decided to leave it there and make due. I knew this was going to cost a large chunk of money and was pretty stressed out and not a great way to start your Monday off. A few days later Tyrone calls back, he did some investigating and found that our insurance was going to cover the cost ($8000) and a rental car. He said it's all set up and enterprise should be calling you shortly. Literally got off the phone and they called saying the rental was ready for pick up! YES!! Things we're looking up. 2 weeks in and Tyrone calls me up and says "come and pick up your car, it's completed". I'm shaking my head, WHAT??? This team expedited their service and cut the timeline by a month, outstanding!!! Tyrone, you my friend are trustworthy, genuine and kind. A shout out to the Transmission Tech, car runs perfectly, you rock! You have my business for life! Best Regards, Mark Traviss

I've had good ones, bad ones, up to ones that were total nightmares, like showing up and having the dealership tell me, after a 30-minute delay, that the vehicle we had agreed that I was to test drive had been destroyed in a fire. Certainly a creative twist on the bait and switch sales tactic. That being said,. Let's talk about Spartanburg Honda. I don't think I've ever had a delightful car buying experience in my life (and I was born in the 1960s). That's exactly the kind of experience I had at Spartanburg Honda. A delightful one! I arrived at the appointed time and the vehicle that I wanted to test drive was ready to go. Tommy McGaha was my sales consultant. Things went smoothly from test drive, to negotiating, to writing up the contract. There were no high pressure sales tactics or tricks or traps In the process. They disclosed everything about the vehicle and gave me a copy of the Carfax report. They even let me take the (used) vehicle offsite to get a third-party inspection. (The Carfax report showed that the vehicle had been in a rear-end accident requiring it to be towed which is why I wanted the third-party inspection. The car checked out fine and the third-party inspection gave me peace of mind I needed to close the deal.) Thomas Hawkins then wrote up the loan and finalized the deal. He offered me optional protection packages that provided real value. Again, no BS, no phony dealer installed options or made up fees. Tommy and Thomas were knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and kind. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I would add that I got a fair price on a good vehicle, and they worked with me on my trade.

I was in the market to buy a new car and I like to do all of my communications via email. I reached out via their website and Steven got back to me quickly with a solid OTD number for a new vehicle. Actually, three years ago when I was searching for another car I talked to Steven too! Back then, I did not make the deal with Steven but I am glad I did this time around. We went back and forth several times on pricing and in the end Steven had the best pricing amongst the other dealers that I was working with in the area. The price was very competitive. Steven was very very very responsive and on top of things. Every email he wrote was personable and kind, which is exactly how he was in person too. I'm sure he treats every customer this way but we felt like valued buyers instead of a number to him. Heck, we'd hang out with him as friends if he lived in Charlotte! He's that cool! I never once felt pressured or rushed to buy a car and my process took about 2-3 weeks of communication. I'm a pretty thorough buyer with a lot of questions but also wanting to get the best deal I can as it is a huge investment and purchase. With that.. i may be a little more to handle than typical customers.. haha! But Steven handled it all with grace and poise and I cannot wait to work with him again in the future when I search for another new vehicle. Oh.. and yes we DID buy a new car from Steven!!!! Woo hoo! Thanks Steven + team!!!

Volkswagen of Spartanburg almost single handedly restored my confidence in the company. I got a basic oil change and tire rotation at their service center. From the moment I walked in the door, all employees were incredibly professional. They advised that the oil change is going to take longer than usual and apologized for that. The oil change didn't take that long. You know the really amazing thing? This shop didn't stop to waste my time trying to upsell me on further repairs. They asked "Is the oil change and tire rotation all we're doing today?" and actually respected my answer of "yes, please." They simply did their job, got me out of there, and printed their recommended service items that weren't tackled on my receipt. Holy crap, I don't remember the last service center that identified issues but didn't try to upsell me on them. This Volkswagen dealership is amazing. Is it enough for me to buy my next Volkswagen from them? Honestly, probably not. I have no desire to drive another Volkswagen. He said they were minor things that needed to be done but like rotors and brakes and a oil change that the car was in top condition and nothing was wrong with it at all and the motor looked decent. Well besides the radio did not work and he said it was just working the other day must be a fuse, and that he has worked on cars him and his mechanic together for over 30 years and the brake light out that he replaced. Well long story short we drove from asheville Nc which was over a hour away to get the car, took it for a test drive for about ten minutes and everything seemed ok except for a weird noise between 1500 and 2000 rpm which he said was nothing but the stock turbo! So we gave him the money after pleading with him that we had some concerns and he said anything and everything to sell the car which is understandable. Well we start our journey back home and when we got up to 50+ mph it had a very bad vibration and scrubbing sound? Sounds like what he said rotor and brakes, so we continue driving and the car is definitely acting much weirder after we eventually get home after only going 50. We take it immediately to our family mechanic which ended up spending close to a 1000 on brakes rotors bushing and calibers. Then we drive it back home which is 10 miles away and we completely lose compression in the motor the car is stuck won't go anywhere. So again within the second day we call our mechanic and have it towed there after calling the dealer and him saying oh it's nothing just a code I promise I worked on cars for years that car has nothing wrong with it. Come to find out 3 out of 6 cylinders are not working they have been patched together with electrical tape which will make them run for a short period of time. Also after we got back from sc the check engine light comes on and a automatic cars gear lights pop on? Which leads us all to believ he reset the check engine lights by taking the battery out. We have replaced 3 censors bushings shocks coils new engine wires the whole nine yards it has now within 4 days cost over 6500 total, and the dealer has nothing to say besides you bought the car if it would have broke down a mile down the road I bought it and it is not his issue we must have done it to the car and hung up. And now we have a 7000 dollar car that still has issues. If you come across this man or dealership please STEER CLEAR!
