I was given a referral to York ENT Associates/Wellspan ENT from my family doctor at Family Practice…read moreCenter Pc York (Dr. Leser). They tried to reach out around Jan/Feb this year and to wait for them to call me for an appointment. May 18th I was called about setting up an appointment for July 24th. When I arrived I was at the wrong entry way and the front desk made it seem like a major issue that i went to the wrong place. Everything outside all says hearing test or hearing center and nothing else. How would I know which is the right place I need from that? I waited so long for this appointment to just arrive at the appointment and from him to see me for less then 5 mins. He asked me if i ever tried anything over the counter I said no and he said I had to try that first before he would do anything. I got more info from the assistant then from him. He just walked in looked at my ear, mouth, and nose with the otoscope less then 30 seconds and asked basic questions and left. Even when i kept trying to ask questions and get more from him he just kept trying to leave. No other patients were in any of the rooms when I walked by or were any sitting in the waiting area when I came. Even with scheduling 15 minute's apart I don't see how this place is said to be so busy when no one was there anywhere for this section. When I left was told to come back in 1 month but they couldn't do it until September. Next appointment was September 24th. I had to call in due to feeling under the weather and oversleeping due to not feeling well.(I woke up at 1:10pm with an appointment at 2pm with a 45 Min Drive to appointment from my house). I called to setup a new appointment to be told that I would have to wait until December 5th. And if i wasn't feeling well that I would need to stay home. I asked for another doctor and another location and was pretty much told no that is the only option that would be given. I asked why the wait time was so long, when the last time I was there no one was waiting or even there when I was but they act like they are so busy? She said that they were short staffed and that other doctors were out and that this is what the scheduling would be like and then hung up the phone on me. Dr. Yoder was just too quick to want to get out of the room with little to no explanation to my issues I was having. Gave generic health remedy for issues and charged me $380 for 5 minute's.

My Mother went in on 8/31 to discuss new technology (i.e., hearing aids, phones, etc.) available…read morefor her hearing issue. (She had been going her for many years.) She was told to use DeBrox to help soften her ear wax. They then couldn't work her in for a follow up visit until 10/21 (almost 2 months later). We accepted this delay as she could still hear with the aids she had. Two treatments with the DeBrox later, she could not hear at all. Her primary care thought the issue was significant enough that her office called Wellspan ENT and got her an emergency appointment the next day. We stressed that they needed to call a family member (on file with them) as she could not hear the phone anymore to be able to respond. WellSpan ENT then proceeded to call my mother's phone to cancel the appointment the morning of the appointment. Unfortunately, nobody was aware, so everyone's schedule was wasted with a trip to the appointment that nobody bothered to call a family member to cancel. You would think somebody would have looked up the fact that she was coming in because of sudded deafness! When asked for another appointment, they told us that they did "NOT consider the situation an emergency ". Now here is a long term, elderly patient of theirs who still lives independently and still drives, who now can't hear the phone or use the phone if there is an emergency, she can't hear any smoke alarm in her home, or sirens coming up on her if she drives (and so she could not drive being deaf). Their lack of concern to help her left her isolated in her home with no way to communicate if she needed anything. They did not care, offer any alternatives, and were content to leave her like this for another month! We took her to dr. Belser in Lancaster who got her in within 3 days after hearing our story, Within 7 days (2 visits), he had her hearing back. She, nor anyone we knew, was a patient of his but he stepped up to the plate when her own provider would not even when requested multiple times. Nice to know someone took their Hippocratic oath to heart! Wellspan ENT needs to reread and actually practice theirs!
