Middle of ocean

Here we go, Omg was I excited to go on this cruise . Absolutely... amazing. My daughter surprised me with sending me on this cruise. This was my first time going on Carnival. I usually cruise on Norwegian. Check in was pretty easy it took maybe 40 minutes. Going through customs was simple as well. The line was very short . I arrived pretty early so maybe this is why my check in went so quick. After customs and check in I proceeded to go onto the boat which was amazing to see the traffic under you. Once I arrived on the boat Omg it was better than TV. We had to wait for a few minutes to proceed to our rooms. I was located on the 5th floor Oceanside view. Very quite. My room was spotless. Room service was excellent . I was overjoyed with excitement . 5 days of fun. After examining my room and putting up my clothings etc. It was mandatory to conduct the drill. After the drill was done it was time to view the ship. Let's just say you need your sneakers because this ship was huge. I viewed the gift shop, stop for lunch at the café. Went aboard to the 10th floor to view Miami skylines as the boat was leaving bay. Amazing view. Now its party time yes Day 1 party till 10pm then I went to a show. It was fantastic. Day 2 I visit the spa on the 11th floor walked around the boat and viewed different areas. Drink time by 2pm. I went to the casino and won 170 dollars . Fell asleep at the machine. Hilarious... I guess I was tired. This stop was Nassau on day 2 but slept the rest of the night . Day 3 we were in Turk and Caicos. That stop was great but I didnt get off unfortunately wasn't feeling 100%. Went to the restaurant got something to eat and watch the band play for a while. Later on that night I attended the bingo hall. Nope I didnt win but I was close. Day 4 it was my birthday so my bff had it all planned out for the waiters to sing Happy Birthday with a special treat. The food was spot on. Day 5 I relaxed more than anything because there was so much entertainment, walking , dancing having fun I was tired. Lol My overall experience was 8 out of 10. The only problem I had was I kept smelling sewer in the middle of the night. Will I travel on Carnival again Yes. Happy Yelping

Cloud 9 Spa Cabin

First Christmas Cruise. It was WONDERFUL! Embarkation went smoothly and I was on the ship in no time. Cabin was ready AHEAD of schedule which was a plus. Process for Muster Station is now self-check in. Your Sign and Sail card is scanned and that's it! The ship was beautifully decorated for the holidays and the environment was very festive. There were plenty of activities, including crafting, karaoke, BINGO, Deal or No Deal, trivia, and comedy. Children have their own Club with supervised activities along with an arcade. There's a lounge for Veterans called Heroes. They have drinks and TVs with sports, which is great for sports fans. I enjoyed Cherry on Top and the variety of candy for purchase. Food options were plentiful and there was something for every palate. I enjoyed room service and had a Spa Cabin which had extra amenities. We only had one night of very rough seas. Even the staff got sea sick. It prevented me from planned tour of the Cayman Islands. I did something different and enjoyed the serenity of the boat without the crowds! Debarkation was little chaotic but I still got off in a timely manner. Customs was smooth as it is now according to face recognition. I enjoyed Jamaica. My first, but certainly not last, visit to the island. The people were so friendly and thanked us for coming as they rebuild from Hurricane Melissa. This was a GREAT way to spend Christmas!

Not even close to everything I ate aboard the carnival sunrise. Enjoyed my long weekend getaway to the Bahamas! The ship wasn't luxurious, by any means, but I overall enjoyed my experience!

1st Cruise I sailed on the Carnival Sunrise. I printed out all of my paperwork prior to leaving for cruise. I used the Miami Luxury Shuttle (AMAZING). Once we arrived at the port, there were many crew members taking our luggage and providing directions where to go. The process went smooth. Once on the boat we all hat to report to our muster stations that were assigned to us. We were instructed what to do in case of an emergency. After leaving the muster station, I went to my stateroom. There was a balcony, full bathroom with plenty of storage. The room had a king-size bed with a couch, 2 night stands, sitting bench, desk, 2 stand up lockers, safe, and an overabundance of storage. Oh, and a thermostat in the room. Now, I was on the ship for only 5 days. I had no idea what to expect. Keep in mind Sunday is dress up. Semi formal dress attire. All other days shorts short sleeve shirts Food.... There were more restaurants than one can eat. So try to plan where and what type of food you want to eat. Yes, the Sunrise had everything! From a buffet to pizza, burgers, sushi, BBQ, higher end restaurants, even Guy Fieri had restaurants on board. The food was tasty! Drinks... I ordered the drink package. It was impossible for me to drink all my drinks, which I was allotted 15 drinks per day. They had generous pours and extra large cans of beer. Shopping... I don't what to say, you want it on a cruise, it was there. They had a watch, jewelry, perfume, duty free, convenience, cookie, candy store, etc. 2 floors of Shopping. Entertainment.... a full casino with live dealers. Slots, novelty gambling games, insane amount! There was an amphitheater for shows, singers, comedians, magicians, movies on a jumbo tron, auctions, arcade, kids zone, spa, hairstyle place, mani and Pedi, saunas, hot room, hot benches, gym, bingo, guest services ,30 foot slides, over 10 bodies of water; pools, jacuzzi, hot tubs, water slides, adult retreat, running track, miniature golf, and more! Bars.... I was told approximately 50 bars on board. There was a bar everywhere! Tequila, martini, piano, mixed drink, along with many others. Ports... We went to Turk and Caicos, Half Moon Cay, and Nassau. All three were amazing! Turks and Caicos is a small island with locals. Fun quaint place. Half Moon Cay a private tropical island with tiki huts, dj, beaches with clear water. I ate the crab legs, shrimp platter with a pink colada listening to island music the dj was playing. Nassau a small city/town. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Try the famous Black Beard Rum cake! INCREDIBLE! My room was maintained every day by Agus, the same person. Yes, my room was always clean, bed made, clean towels, and vacuumed every day! Thank you, Agus! Staff... The staff were Very helpful and polite such as giving directions, what to do, what to eat, see. The day we set sail, the cruise director invited all hands up to the 11th deck to have a sail away party. I went and ate at guy Fieri's burger joint. Fabulous! As I was sitting and eating a staff member came by with a large try of drinks and offered. I told him I don't know. He then asked me if I had to drive. At that point it was clear I was on vacation and in good hands! I took a drink. Incredibly good and strong! Best vacation ever! A few staff members to thank: Officer Dejan, Thank you for a wonderful experience! Housekeeping Agus I appreciate all you did for me while maintaining my room. Cuchina De Capitan Italian Restaurant, to the entire staff, You all made are dining enjoyable and special. Sunrise Restaurant, Sahin, Christopher, Yunita. Thank you for reminding me that I was on vacation. Steak House. Didier and Friska. Thank you for the formal service! You both took dining to a different level! My only regret was getting off the ship! Thank you, Carnival, Sunrise! You more than earned your 5 star review!

Cozumel port before leaving.

We had a good time on the cruise however it seemed disorganized while departing at Cozumel and Miami. They had everyone meet at the same place, same time. You could not even use the stairs to meet at your meeting place at deportation. You were forced in elevators with lots of people. At buffet everyone serves themselves so you are touching the same handles as everyone else. Other cruises I have been on were much more organized and cleaned all the time. I only saw one person doing general cleaning of common areas on a 4 day cruise. In addition we paid for an excursion in Miami to South Beach however they put us on the bus to go directly to the airport- no excursion. When I explained that we had a South Beach excursion they said there was no way they were going to get our luggage. Very unorganized.

We had such a great week on the Carnival Sunrise! Our cruise started out in Miami going to the Caribbean. We had stops in Half Moon Cay (Carnival's private island) & Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It was all amazing! If you have never cruised before, it is a great experience! It is all inclusive including food, hotel, & entertainment! You don't *have to* spend a DIME the whole time! However, please be sure to prepay your gratuities, the crew are amazing & really take care of you! They also have lots of additional things you can purchase including alcohol, excursions (tours in port), souvenirs, wifi, etc.  I love it because you can got to different ports, experiences & your hotel follows you (no unpacking/packing).  Sunrise recently had a $200 million total overhaul of the ship in 2019 and seems like a brand new ship!   STATEROOMS The rooms will be smaller than the usual hotel room as space is a premium. However, we were very comfortable in our oceanview room with king bed. It included a large tv, 2 nightstands, desk, sofa, & big closets. We had more than enough plugs and USB ports in the room.  There are 4 types of rooms including Interior, Oceanview, Balcony & Suites. Interior are the most basic without windows but it is dark to help sleep. Oceanviews have a window to the outside, but it can't be open. Balcony rooms have a door to the balcony so you can get fresh air to the room. These rooms are all similar in size. The suites are all different shapes and sizes with different amenities.  The bathrooms are small and the shower is even smaller, but it is manageable. Room attendants are amazing! We were greeted by Nancy the moment we walked up to our room. She kept our room super clean throughout the trip and we had towel animals each day. Whenever we returned and she saw us, she would always yell down the hall to say hi & she remembered our names! SERVICE I can't say enough about the great service we got! Everyone was amazing! We felt pampered the whole time!  Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable.  We were at the lobby bar so much, they knew us by name!  I'm sure if I had a usual drink, they would have it ready by the time I sat down. But I have too many favorites in my rotation! One that I did add to rotation & probably drank every day was The Twilight Zone (Pina Colada with Midori, Bacardi, & Blue Curaçao.) It was the prettiest thing you ever did see!  I actually saw someone else with it when I knew I needed it in my life! Then people kept asking me what it was!  PORTS Depending on the ports you go to, you may either walk onto the dock or ride a tender boat to the area.  Announcements in the morning will give directions on what you will need to do.  Half Moon Cay, The Bahamas Carnival's Private Island.  I'm sooo glad this was one of our ports.  It was THE MOST GORGEOUS beach with the white sand & clear blue water.  I did not want to leave! We decided to snorkel $$ in the area then relax in our clamshell cover $$. Lunch was provided and included burgers, hot dogs, jerk chicken, fruit & water/tea/lemonade. We didn't do additional excursions.  Ocho Rios, Jamaica  We did an excursion in Jamaica which included a muddy ATV adventure through the jungle, bird feeding, tractor pulled ride up to the White River with waterfalls and lunch. We had a great time! We got wet & dirty!   ** Keep reading for part 2 of review ** Part 1 of 2

This is not one of the bigger ships, but the staff make up for that. They are so happy to have you on board and provide great customer service. Shout out to Zofia, Miranda, and Joel in the Alchemy Bar. We were there every night. They make some amazing cocktails. Our dining room staff of Dennis, Thelma, and Matt were incredible. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and they made it so special. And special thanks to Semadi, our room steward. I got a good deal on a balcony suite upgrade and it has spoiled me for life. We never had a bad meal on board. And I appreciate the priority service that comes with a suite. Quick to board and our room was ready so we could drop our bags and head to the bar. The only negative was quite a bit of rolling during the cruise.

I heard that Carnival Cruise Line had lost its good reputation. But I wasn't expecting them to prove it! I went on a 5 day Cruise for my birthday with 14 friends/family. Some who had never cruised before. I'll make this short. The food was okay, not as many selections as I've experienced before. Our cabin steward was great. Cons: What happened to the air condition??? It was 100 degrees in the hallways and elevators. The entertainment was boring. Watching a 12 yr old telling us how he is disrespectful to adults is not entertainment. Finally, after refusing a Build a bear as a prize (inappropriate for age), they let him sit down. Guy's burgers 3/10. Grand Cayman for me was boring but then again I'm not a beach person and that's the only thing to do there. Jamaica was nice, but too quick for me. Next time, I'd have to fly in. We were all terrified of being the group of people running to the ship so we got back early. Pool was too crowded. The Serenity place for adults filled up fast, so we really didn't get a chance to enjoy it. Overall, I had a good time being with my peeps. Oh, before I forget. Never buy their birthday cake. It sucks! Lots of icing and no cake! Last thing, on our final night a passenger got overly drunk and tried to accuse and assault our cabin steward. Good luck to anyone taking this ship. I'll NEVER go on this one again.

Had an awesome time in spite of the rough waters ( avoid hurricane season if possible). Being the first time cruising it was a good experience from the food options to the shows and activities. The experience alone was well worth it and all the beautiful sites I can't say enough about. Carnival held up their reputation of being a fun ship to cruise on and I would definitely book a vacation with them again. All of the staff and members treated you well and wanted to make sure you were enjoying yourself and taken care of.

The best part of the trip was how we had the boat exclusively to ourselves! I didn't know it'd be a private tour until the day I came. So, the boat was just a total of 3 people (captain included). The water temperature was great and the clarity was decent. We even saw two dolphins! You meetup at Whiskey Joe's at the marina and you can start your excursion immediately. I liked that you didn't need to wait around much. I was able to see some cool looking fish, a bottom feeder and a crab. You get 2 hours for the snorkeling and you're not required to wear any life vests (in fact, we weren't offered any and I didn't see any). The water is super shallow so it didn't seem dangerous at all. The water is also salty and easy to float in. The boat was nearby the main snorkeling area. The bad: The area for snorkeling was pretty small. It was an artificial reef where the fish were but outside of that area there is just seagrass and there's no living things to observe. The website says snorkeling starts at $75/pp and up but that's misleading b/c that's only the price if you have 8+ people. When I came to the marina, the worker who had me sign paperwork said that "$25/hour tip is required" when I got an email saying 15% tip is optional. My husband clarified and he said "yes, it's required" but later retracted his statement after I clarified that it was strange to give tip upfront before we even went on the excursion. However, I did already give 15% tip upfront on 50% of the value and then Zelled an additional $25 tip to the captain himself afterward. The cost for snorkeling ended up being $407 for 2 people (pricey). The interesting: The captain swam with us to lead us to the reef and then swam back and was mostly on his phone.

I was told a marathon was impacting traffic, but as a traveler who planned ahead and arrived on time, this is something the company should have anticipated and communicated more clearly. I also spent about $80 in Uber fees just getting to the meeting location, which added to the frustration. To their credit, the guide later connected me with the first food stop and arranged for tacos and issued a full refund, which I appreciated. However, the bigger disappointment was the lost opportunity--I could have booked a drag show or another tour during that time instead of waiting. Customer service tried to make things right after the fact, but better planning, proactive communication, and respect for guests' time would have made a big difference.

It was late in the day and we had tried to do some Airboat Tours earlier in the week but we were traveling with our dog and they were not dog friendly. We decided to stop just to check and luckily for us, not only are they dog friendly but they were doing one last tour before the sunlight was gone. Our guide Fabian was awesome. He was super chill but informative and really did a great job. Especially considering that is was late in the day and he was only able to find one alligator. He definitely tried a lot of spots and it was clear that there would normally have been more wildlife to look as so even he seemed a bit disappointed but he definitely made the most of the birds and other wildlife that we did spot. There was a second alligator and even a baby gator when we arrived at the makeshift village stop that we watched swim in the water a bit. I really liked that Fabian was upfront about the fact that the "village" was just a replica for tourists and not really a relic. He also joked that he has a TV and it is nothing like how native people live today. We had a really nice time on the tour but it is incredibly loud and we spent some of the tour putting our headphones over our dogs ears to protect her from the sound. The office workers warned us about the noise though and they were so sweet they even offered to let her stay in the office with them while we took the tour. I definitely would not take her with us again if we did another tour, but only because I worried about her little ears. She did super well with everything else, including the gator being so close to us and getting on and off the boat. We spent well over $100 after tip on the tour for two people and a dog and it lasted about 45 minutes but I really feel like the experience was well worth the price and the employees here were just so friendly and kind.
