Dinner For Two (1 Lb.)
Gingerlily L.

Great carnitas! They are fried crispy and juicy. Rice and bears are so good. We use to go to there place on Spring Street. Then lost track of them after the pandemic. So glad we found then in Lemon Grove. They have an expanded menu that we'll have to try next time. But you can't beat the Carnitas for two plate.

You may already know that Carnitas Urupan has moved from Spring St. in La Mesa to Lemon Grove on Broadway. Well if not, now you know. When I came in, I initially ordered the chile relleno burrito, but for some reason, the burrito was very oily, so I asked for something else and they agreed. I ended up eating a bacon and eggs breakfast burrito since it was still morning. The breakfast burrito was very good and large. The eggs were well scrambled and came with a good amount of savory bacon and cheese. I really liked the quality of the flour tortilla. It had a nice buttery texture. It was good eating with the red hot sauces they had. The gents working the front of the house was nice and apologetic about the first burrito. They offer a good amount of inside seating.

I haven't been here in a while I should of kept it that way. Smh worse carnitas ever. Super oily n not just that. The meat had no flavor what so ever I got me a plate. Only had 2 tacos. The rest I took To go saw a homeless gave him the food. I don't know he might of liked it. Not sure but. I won't be coming back. Waste of 47 dollars

Lol all the reviews here about the rude girl working the cashier in front is a bit relatable. Well…read moreshe wasn't rude to me but she was just short and looked like she had a stank attitude and hated her job but that could just be her face. She took my order and was straight to the point; no frills or thrills so no complaints on my part. It's convenient that they're open 24/7 but since there are in a shared plaza in the middle, there's no drive thru making you have to go inside. I like how there was an open salsa bar with different options of hot sauces ranging from mild to spicy. They even have hot carrots, jalapeños, and radishes out for free which is a winner to me! They do have a sign limiting you to 3 sauces per person and that they have cameras watching lol. The service was super quick I was still getting my hot sauces when the food was already done to my surprise. As for the food itself ehh it was okay. Their cheese quesadilla was a little on the burnt side. Their rolled tacos and asada nachos came with everything which included guac, pico, sour cream, lettuce so that was a plus for me not to order any extras since some just come with the basic cheese. They were both good.

This was our second time here, this time for brunch! We got the burrito and the queso fundido…read more OMG!! The queso fundido was sooooo amazing! I definitely want to get it again in the future. The burrito was so good as well. I was not too fond of the agave syrup drizzle as I don't like mixing sweet and savory, but if that's your thing, go for it! Eventually I only had room for the filling, so that was nice and savory. The cafe de olla was delicious as well. I REALLY commend this restaurant for not using AI graphics. The signs and menu looked like they were designed by a real designer. Great job! My only complaint was that the table next to us had an iPad kid with loud volume. I feel that restaurants should impose policies of not letting personal devices be so loud as to not bother other patrons.

It's huge and we really liked the combination of steak, chicken, shrimp, sausage and chorizo. I really liked how they separated the beans in a cup, the rice and the tortillas. Very neat and clean. 2nd try: My husband tried the Mar Y Tierra Burrito and its very very spicy. We couldnt finish it so we put it to go. I ordered the Enchiladas Sirloin Ranchero and definitely a huge serving. It was my first time to try enchiladas and honestly I struggled to understand what I'm eating. Was it supposed to be super soggy and everything in one plate? I dont understand why they had to put beans within the plate and the plate seems overflowing. I dont know where the Sirloin is. The spicyness was tolerable for the enchiladas but I believe I regret ordering it. I cant finish it so also asked for to go.
