They're very generous with the food amount. The barbacoa was a little dry for my liking but still good. Can't go wrong with quesabirrias. I liked that they gave me bottles of different salsas to my table so I could add as much as I wanted. I also asked for grilled onions. The service was very good I would come back and try other stuff on their menu! read more

The food used to be better a couple of years ago. I don't know what happened. The pico de gallo tasted too bland to worry about and it was made with cucumber. Who does that?! That's all I could taste. It was the worst pico I've ever had. The super burrito wasn't the usual burrito with added ingredients. It was just a larger version of their regular burrito. Super burrito should have meat, rice, beans and cheese as usual AND pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream. It wasn't worth eating because it was mostly meat which was dry and overcooked anyway. Won't go there again. read more

Ordered a couple pounds of birria. Total was about $60, birria was mostly fat and not a lot of meat. Wish I would have looked at the food before taking it. Seems like they were running out and just gave us the scraps from the bottom. Lady at the front was nice. read more

Context: ordered one super burrito and steak fries. chips and guacamole. To begin, the guacamole had the skin of the avocado mixed in the guacamole, it did not seem to have any salt, pepper, lemon, chili and the steak fries were lightly dusted with cheese, a little sour cream and a little beans, I gave one star purely because the waitress was kind. For the food and the wait it was 0/5. read more

Let me start by saying the service was great and this review is solely for the food. I don't judge places on the location or surroundings since that may be out of their control. This place is in a strip mall/shopping center plaza. One couple eating there at dinner time(should have already been a fed flag). Rest of the place was emptier than a street race after someone yells Cops. Food is definitely worth 1 Star or below(2nd star added just for the service). I ordered a veggie burrito for my wife and the portion was great but inside was filled with just overcooked mushed together rice and shredded lettuce. No Cheese! No Veggies! No Anything! I ordered a chicken burrito and again same thing, filled with all mushed together rice barely any chicken and that was it. No cheese, veggies, or even beans. Here is the kicker they charged like $12 a burrito and you have to pay extra if you want chips($4) and old salsa poured from a jug from the fridge. For that price please do yourself a huge favor and go to Agave next to Turmeric. Or save a couple of bucks and hit the taco truck down the street parked at the liquor store. First and definitely last time going here! read more

Tasty carnitas tacos with a cockroach. Went there this past weekend and decided to give this place a try, when our food arrived we noticed something strange in the plate. After taking a closer look we clearly saw a cockroach. When we talked to the server she gave us another taco but still charged us for it. read more

Wasn't pleasantly surprised when walking into this restaurant. The outside deceives you, the inside is nice and clean. We did an order to go and they did mess up part of our order but the rest was good. I got the birria plate with rice and beans, while it was good it wasn't amazing. Good portions though. My mom got the nachos and she loved them. read more

Great food and the price is a lot cheaper then anywhere else. They are very friendly and very fast service .

The carnitas here are super tasty. The staff is very friendly and are quick to get your order out. The dining area is clean and spacious.

We are here for lunch.... The organization of how to order the food was very confusing. The lady up front was taking orders then after helping someone walked away to go serve food at the table but didn't say anything. The food was missing items requested and one person in our party got her food 30 minutes later after we were all done eating. The guacamole was NOT good. It looks fabulous but has no flavor. I tried adding salt and lime and still no hope. I had the shrimp ceviche tostada. It was okay, too many tomatoes. I've had better. The service is bad she doesn't tell you that you have to get your drink from the fridge. I won't be back read more

One of the best burrito's supreme and the customer service was the best I've had so I would really recommend it.

Was the food microwaved? The food burned straight through the foam plate as shown in photo. Chemicals from burned foam with a touch of table germs on the bottom of torta. My friend was dissapointed as well, ordered a super burrito asada but it was more like super rice burrito instead. Stay away unless you want to be dissapointed. read more

Great quick stop for some super yummy homemade Mexican food. Definitely coming back next time I'm in town!

I visited here when I was staying in Merced to send off my son to a college. My hotel was just one block away from carnitas Michoacán. After a long drive from Yosemite National Park, I was so hungry and very glad that I found this store. I had carnitas taco. Fast service and great food. I liked the food lots! read more

This is a proper hole-in-the-wall burrito joint. Good burritos. Had el pastor and the kid had shrimp. In hindsight, I probably should have ordered carnitas, since it's in their name. Chips and salsa were extra, unfortunately. Would like to see a salsa bar. So, not perfect, but a solid spot. read more

Good for large groups. Food is ok fairly decent.. Friendly people, customer service was great. One major turn off...the flies where very unpleasant to see and deal with...we wanted to eat there but after swatting flies while our food was ordered we elected to have our food to go... read more

This is one simple but amazingly good hard-core Mexican lunch dinner place it was fantastic . I had the straight Carnitas tacos with chips and pico and it was amazing for six dollars. The owner was there helping us and was just an amazingly nice friendly super guy and the food, the food, The food. It's not much to look at in a little strip mall in Merced but make the trip if you're coming through town. Everything here looks really good I just had the Carnitas but I'll definitely be back to try everything else looks really good. read more

One of the best Carnitas I ever had! Absolutely delicious. I'm from San Diego and often travel south of the border for Carnitas because it's hard to find good Carnitas here. I never imagined finding good ones this far north. I'm very impressed by the flavor. The rice, beans and tortillas are good too. Next time I'm back this way we will definitely stop again to eat here. The staff was very friendly and attentive. So I happy I found this place! read more

Look, I can't say anything that hasn't been said already in previous reviews. This place is bonkers delicious. Just like.. order the mixed carnitas and a large horchata, share it with a friend, share it with lots of friends. You'll still be full, and still somehow want to eat more. Go ahead and eat the pickled jalepenos too. read more

Every time we have come here the food is always delicious. It doesn't matter what we order, from Chili Verde to Cerviche to Menudo everything is amazing... no need to add salt or any spices. Customer service is good as well. I give them 5 stars but they are worth 10 easy. Try it out and you'll see!!! read more

They drop the ball, they are very inconsistent on their prices as well. Every Sunday we used to go there and order the same thing sometimes the price would even be $10 dollars more expensive for the same food. They are super rude in there when you ask for a different salsa or more limes. Plain and simple, I won't be going there again read more

The best Carnitas I've ever had super flavorful and juicy not super greasy I've always loved the carnitas michocan in Ceres and I have to say the carnitas are even better at the one in Merced and tortillas homemade and fresh as always. read more

Good food and good service. Many different options for Mexican food and good Mexican food I definitely recommend. Birria tacos!

Needed to get a quick bite for dinner on our way home. Pretty standard Mexican fare. I've better and I've had worse.

We stopped at Carnitas Michoacán on our way into Yosemite. We actually turned around to go back and find it after reading yelp teviews. They're right. Delicious. Tacos, burritos, quesadillas. Really friendly and well worth the stop. Actions speak louder than words so we just stopped again on our way home! You should too! read more

Great carnitas for only $4.99 a pound take out and $6.99 in house! Hard to argue with their logo - a pig with a chefs hat stirring a giant carnitas pot. Just tried their tacos with hand made tortillas on my first visit, they were very good with their great salsas. Took home a pound of carnitas and a dozen hand made tortillas. The tortillas are $2.99 a dozen. I'll be back to try more. Correction: The carnitas are $4.99 for the SECOND pound when you buy the first for $6.99. Still a great deal for great carnitas. read more

I used to come here years ago when attending UC Merced. I loved their burritos. I came back and they still make one of the best carne asada burritos I've ever had. It's huge and only $4.99. I think what sets it apart is the tasty tortilla. I noticed a lot of people come and get take out orders here. Definitely give them a try when you want Mexican food. This place is great! I went there today with my bf and I loved it. He got the super burrito and I got the 4 tacos with a soda special. I tried different meats (carne asada, lengua, carnitas, and buche) and they were all delicious except the lengua wasn't that good to me. My bf doesn't really like Mexican food but he really liked this place! They are definitely not stingy with the meat and their salsas are soo good too. Will be going again soon :) read more

Outstanding carnitas in a typical no frills taco shop. They make their own, and they definitely undercharge for it. I had the pastor tacos as well, which were fine, but I will make a return trip one day just for the carnitas. I plan to eat all of them, so I apologize in advance. There will be none left for you. read more

I asked for a California Burrito and the girl at the register says, "What's that? I've never heard of anyone order that." I was shocked. I have no right to judge because I hardly know what any of the traditional Mexican foods are and what's in them. I'm just a girl who loves your average burrito, preferable a CALIFORNIA BURRITO and not even this whole hole in the wall place knew what it was. I hope the girl owns a smart phone and looked it up after I left. But just know they don't know what California Burritos are, I had to build it myself which came out $7!!! Ridiculous!! Their super burrito which is bigger I'm sure was under $7. Final result: burrito was okay, I've had better. read more
