The carnitas and chicharrones are the best in Sac! The salsas are great too! You will not be disappointed! I recommend this place to anyone! Just beware of the Raiders fan that works there. He's cool though. Great place, great burritos, great people as well! The Niners Guy! read more

The place is a jewel the staff are always friendly and helpful. The store is always clean and fresh. Please don't count them out of the food they serve. This is the only spot on Sacramento that I eat the burritos, and the green salsa is to die for (absolute favorite.) read more

Who needs a festive holiday scent when you can have the aroma of burnt tamales!? D O N O T get tamales from Carneceria Lopez on Franklin blvd!!. I got 2 dozen for $60 and they were all burnt. I called and they wouldn't make it right. They also made my entire house smell like burnt tamales on Christmas eve and we had to air out the house. They were burnt, dry and awful to eat. I regret not getting them at Yolandas Tamales there goes my Christmas morning meal. Ugh! read more

We always go to Carniceria Lopez for our Fajita meat for our events; we particularly like their fresh Chicken Fajitas; we make it a "communal" cooking event whereas we place our Korean grills and hot plates on the table and everyone participates in turning and cooking the marinated meats together and self-serve! Fun event and easy on the host! We call ahead and order 15+ pounds of different types of marinated meats in advance for pickup and Carniceria Lopez is very accommodating! read more

I had to come here because I was late getting to La Esperanza, but it was a good thing that they were sold out of what I needed down the street. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come down here. There's a little market and carniceria here, but I only went to the carniceria side, so the review will only reflect that part of the premises. I was quickly helped by a very kind employee, and she fulfilled my order with swiftness. She made sure what I had asked for was what I really wanted, confirming what I wanted in English. They had a variety of cooked meats readily available to grab and go with, and I got chicharron and carnitas. They were solid, with my preferring the carnitas over the chicharron. I wouldn't hesitate to make a purchase here again. Both selections of meat were good. Were they excellent, 5-star quality meat? I would love to give that answer confidently, but I can't. I'd love to try again when it's fresher made, but I came late into the day/evening. Despite that, they were really good. I'll have to come again earlier in the day on another occasion. I might try some of the prepared dishes next time, and hopefully the same kind of experience will be reflected. read more

The meet here never fails to disappoint! They have all types of cuts for any occasion from a small to a big get together. Everyone that works in the carneceria knows their stuff. There are other big supermarkets in the area with lower prices but they don't have the quality like they do here. They also got a hot food area where everything is made fresh. Perfect when you're on the go. My favorite to get is the asada burrito with the red salsa. They load it up with meat. They have a little market as well with fresh veggies, bread, and even tamales! It's all go for all your needs. read more

I've been purchasing tamales here from Carniceria Lopez for some time now because the moisture of the masa taste and the choice of ingredients in the sauces. Made the tamales taste better than their competition down the road. I did mind paying $30 a dozen which is substantially higher than the competition. I regret to inform you after purchasing tamales on 11/11/24 this was not the case. What a difference in the flavor! Dry masa and the chicken tamales had hardly any sauce which made them taste even dryer. Unfortunately something has changed in the preparation. Just not the same. I will now have to find another place for tamales read more

Shrimp tostada is decent. Tender shrimp albeit kinda bland (nothing lime slices can't fix though). A bit disappointed on the bag of tortilla chips and tub of salsa roja that I also got. Supposedly the tortilla chips are house-made but they don't have the thick crunchiness that fresh tortilla chips have. Honestly they're like unflavored Doritos. Kinda stale too. The salsa roja has a strange sweetness like as if conventional hot sauce was added to it (it's also thicker than the salsa roja that I'm used to). Not my jam. Eh, overall the place is okay, but it's hard to strongly recommend this spot when there are a bunch of Mexican spots in the area, some that have better offerings. read more

Buche was tender and flavorful. Only problem is I wish I knew Spanish in order to communicate what I am trying to order.

Hands down, HANDS DOWN!!! The best burrito I've had from a carnicería!!! The asada was tasty, the salsa on point, the rice and beans were cooked to perfection. It tasted like something my momma would make, I had to look at the cook to make sure it wasn't my momma. Every bite was delicious. Only complaint and it's not on them but me, if the tortilla was a little crispy.....Umph!!! It would've been 12 out 10 stars. Burrito and a drink all for 13 dollars. A good price for a great meal. Will definitely be back and next time I'll buy meat here to cook and see how that bad boy comes out. Would recommend this place for all the burrito snobs out there. You'll love it!!! You might kill the cook like Johnny Deep did in Once upon a time in Mexico, that's how good this thang was!!! read more

Ordered carnitas, fajita chicken, rice, beans, 2 kinds of salsas and chips for a grad party and everything was delicious. Two weeks ago my sister and I did a taste test with Carniceria Lopez, La Superior and La Esperanza and Carniceria Lopez won out so that's why we ordered from them. Everyone at the party really enjoyed the food and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. Highly recommend. read more

So I came back, as promised, and this time, I tried the asada torta, and got another adobada taco. The adobada taco, which was oh so good last time, this time was a little dry, a little less flavor than last time. And you know what they say about the food industry, consistency is key. They're not consistent. The torta, similarly, was a little dry. I think there were some beans in the torta, which weren't seasoned much, which made the whole thing feel a little bland, even though when I tasted the meat by itself, it was really nicely flavored. So, I wasn't super happy with my torta either. Still, I do like this store, so I will come back at least one more time, and see how it'll be a third time. read more

Bought 10 lbs of marinated meat to grill tomorrow. Came in was greeted by the cashier, found the meat and was helped quickly. He was able to answer our questions and got us on our way. If marinated is as good grilled as it is in the bags raw, I may need to do 5 stars...to be continued. read more

This place is pretty good. I've been quite a few times, and felt these were some of the best tacos in Sacramento. When I go, I usually order the asada and adobada. This place can get busy, so it's definitely delicious. This time around, I went with my two friends, and my husband. We ordered asada, adobada, and chorizo tacos. The prices for the tacos are $2.50 each, which isn't too bad in my opinion. Unfortunately, even though tacos were delicious, after about 30 minutes of eating, my husband and one of my friends felt sick. They ended up needing the bathroom for some time. We chalked it down to the chorizo, as my other friend and I didn't eat any of the chorizo tacos and felt fine. Not sure if the meat wasn't cooked all the way, or if it was just bad. read more

Who doesn't love Mexican food, unless of course, it's bad. But by average standards, a good burrito is hard to pass up. That is why when I spotted Carniceria Lopez in my feed on Door Dash, I knew I had to try. I remember it like it was yesterday, I woke up craving grandmas breakfast burritos pre-quarantine. So I chose to satisfy my craving with a super chorizo burrito for breakfast. When the food arrived at my doorstep, I became excited and full of hope, waiting to devour this burrito. And I was pleased to see what was in the bag. Dense Burrito. I took a bit of this packed burrito, and was greeted with the flavors of good ol beans and rice with the added hint of sourcream and cheese. It was hard to put it down from the first bite, my new mission was to devour it as soon as possible due to how delicious it was! It could use a little bit more sour cream and guac, but the flavor of the rice and beans with that non-overwhelming hint of guac was just enough. As I finished the burrito, despite being full, wanted more. It was a much needed start to my day of watching TV all day during these challenging times! :) read more

We went in for some Mexican food and received excellent service from the meat guy at the counter. We ordered the newly prepared ceviche and a super burrito with fish inside. The ceviche was awesome. The camerones with shrimp had a lot and they were big with a lot of avocados. The pescado ceviche was the best I've had in a while. I should have given you all my go to spot years ago, you can thank me later. I met Rogelio (owner) when they first opened in 1994, I delivered their Budweiser/Corona every Thursday for 17 years, and can tell you their hot Mexican food, meat, carnitas and tamales are still my #1 Carniceria/Taqueria, . I moved to Elk Grove years ago and still drive to Sac. to get my fix because I have tried almost every Taqueria/Carniceria if not all of them working through out Sacto. and Elk Grove, CA. Their super asada burrito is the BEST and my favorite! so full of flavor, filled with plenty of tasty asada meat, rice, beans, guac., sour cream, cilantro/onions and salsa, it's second to none. Their chicken tamales, queso/raja tamales are full of flavor, not bland or dry like others, the masa has great taste, I'm hooked. Their carnitas are so good, and for the price, are a must, their home made chorizo is also highly recommended, homemade ceviche, 7 mares, salsas will keep you coming back, and they will cut you any type of meat you want like diezmilla, arachera and milanesa to name a few. The owner (Rogelio) his wife Maria, the kids that work there and workers are THE BEST!!! Get your butts down there and experience my favorite spot, you won't be disappointed. There's a reason they have been open for 27 years, and I still keep coming back, they are deserving of the 5 stars I gave them. read more

Carniceria Lopez - Carne Asada super burrito - Grocery Near Me - Sacramento, California

Tucked in behind La Favorita Taqueria at the northwest corner of Fruitridge Rd & Franklin Blvd is a small Mexican butcher shop & store named Carniceria Lopez. On the shelves are the usual Bimbo bread, Chocolate Ibarra, fire-hot Chicharrones and candies with salt and hot sauce in them. The best part of the store is in the back at the lunch counter. It's a walk up with no tables - just a board with some dirt cheap prices for some of the best tacos and burritos in town. They may have someone working who understands English, but don't count on it - but they have never laughed too hard at my mangled Spanish. For me it's hard to pass up the La Favorita out front when I want some Mexican food, but be sure to give the butcher shop a chance. For the uninitiated it may be a little *too* authentic, but for my four lunch dollars it's the closest thing to south of the border here in Sactown. read more

i went here on a friday evening after work, because i was craving some cerviche. i seen my friend snapchat a few weeks ago til i finally came here to check out the market. i bought half pound of the shrimp cerviche and half pound of the fish cerviche. i also had to get me some lime and lemon to complete the meal. . called my mexican friend to see if he has tostadas so i dont need to purchase some, sure thing he does have some and a 12 pack of cold modelos to go with the cerviche i am bringing to his house to party. . pescado cerviche which is the fish - it is a white fish and defintely not fishy taste. the pescado cerviche hd a nice settled flavor with cilantrol, onions, and zesty citrus with it. . shrimp cerviche - this one had a stronger savory flavor than the fish cerviche. the flavor is different from the fish cerviche for sure. i really liked it alot. . overall both cerviche was good. they are unique in their own flavor and taste. i couldnt decide which was better but i would consider getting both again next time. i really like the cerviche paired with the toastadas and ice cold modelo to go with it. . the pro thing is that this market is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. i like go in grab and go. i can not wait until i get to experienced their marinated meat so i can make some home made tacos at home soon. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day. read more
