Have had four Bledsoe hams for holiday meals and they rock. I have had other Bledsoe meats mostly purchased from the Sacramento Farmer's Market. All were delicious!!!! I think Ash is being a little harsh. You must have had the odd cut, and not gone back to let him know. I've had all sorts of his meats from sausages and bacon, to the finest tenderloin I think I ever had. He's really helpful, will work with you on your budget and recipe and is certainly keen to please. I bet that had you gone back the following week, he'd have made good. read more

I cook a pork butt in my Le Creuset to make the most delicious pulled pork! I buy this frequently at the Davis Farmer's Market. Delicious.

I would have loved to try their meats. I won a 20lbs of pork gift certificate that I paid $60 for at a charity and when I tried to redeem it I received no call backs or respond emails on how to order my meats ( I live in Sacramento) I paid way to much for only 20lbs of pork but it was for charity. Now I am really out of my money. Don't donate to any charity that has these certificates, you won't get your product, you will be out of money. Better off donating for a tax write off. This is a weekly stop for me at the Sunday Farmer's Market. Their bacon, tenderloins and ribs are excellent and never disappoint.

If you want to have the best, most mouth watering, delectable meal of your life, put some Bledsoe's Pork in it. Their pork is absolutely tender and juicy and always flavorful. They also are all natural so its a meat eating meal you can feel good about. If you're planning on buying at either of the Farmer's Markets they sell be sure to arrive early so you can snag some juicy bacon to feast on. Or perhaps you would like to order ahead so you could serve a wonderful ham at your next family gathering. If you want to cook great meals and impress you dinner guests serve them Bledsoe's Pork. This is the first review I have ever written on Yelp. I'm the Executive Chef for two of the largest F&B properties in the Sacramento area. The company I work for has 130 properties around the US and Canada. I always get flack from my wife when we go out to eat because I won't speak up to the server if the food is sub par, execution was flawed or service was bad. I know how hard this business is, and I hold a high respect for my fellow F&B professionals and know that there are many factors that lead to the execution of a great meal. I'm one of those consumers that restaurant owners hate. If the food/service/experience is not acceptable, instead of saying something, I won't return, and if asked about my experience from my peers, I'll speak my mind. The reason I'm outlining all these things is to show that the experience I had with Bledsoe Farms was so unprofessional and disappointing, I'm taking the time to write about it. I have 3 events every year that I consider my "premier events" of the year. One of those events occurred last Friday night. The event was a year in the making. Local produce and protein were carefully researched and selected by myself. I brought in local sturgeon and caviar from Passmore Ranch, local produce from sodaro orchards and Capay Organics, local poultry from Diestel Farms, beef from Masami beef out of corning and I attempted to bring in local pork from Bledsoe Farms out of Woodland. I reached out to Bledsoe farms over two months ago to lay the foundation of a chef/local purveyor relationship. I pride myself in the relations I have created with my food purveyors. I spoke with John Bledsoe on multiple occasions to discuss my menu and what he could provide me to successfully execute my dinner for 550 local politicians, agriculture professional and donors that make our property function. I even toured the site of Bledsoe farms to ensure that the product I was purchasing was in fact the local, sustainable product the John Bledsoe promised. We agreed on 100 pounds of both pork ribs and boneless pork loin, plus 60lbs of bacon for my menu. I spoke to John Bledsoe 4 days before my event when I toured his farm to ensure we were still on the same page for my deliveries. He told me that my deliveries were set for 3pm on the 18th of June. My event was on the 20th. I talked to John Bledsoe on the morning of Wednesday June 18th, and again, he told me my product would be there that afternoon. When my delivery wasn't there by 430pm that day, I started getting concerned and called/emailed John multiple times to inquire where it was. I did not here from him on Wednesday. All day Thursday I called and emailed John multiple times inquiring where my product was. He never answered my calls or emails. I started getting concerned that something may have happened to John. I was completely shocked when my wife called me to inform me that she was curious about the lack of response from John so she called him and he answered her call. She then called him and did a 3 way call with myself and again he answered. I asked him what was going on, and why he failed to deliver on his word. John said that he had a problem and couldn't deliver his product. When I asked him why he couldn't call me and inform me of the problem, he hung up on me. I made a decision late on the night before my event to go to Cash and Carry and purchase the pork I needed to successfully execute my event. I still have not heard from John Bledsoe with an explanation on why he completely abandoned me and didn't follow through on his word. The position I have at my property has brought me close to the local food and agriculture representatives of the area, and they too are reading this letter. read more

This is a painful review to write. Having sampled Mr. Bledsoe's products many times at area restaurants, I can attest that his meat is of impeccable quality. However, I have to give a word of warning to those purchasing Bledsoe products at Farmers Markets. I just purchased a pork shoulder ($14) which I was told "had a bit of skin". "No problem" I'm thinking, I'll just make a bit of crackling on the side of the roast I was planning on making. Get home, open the vacuum pack...the cut was at least 75% skin by weight, about 25% meat. I'm sure I should have specified what I was looking to use the meat for, but I'd urge a word of caution when buying from Bledsoe Farms at the Farmers Market. I wouldn't stray from cuts which are easily recognizable in the vacuum pack, because you may end up with something that is not exactly as advertised...pretty much exactly the opposite experience you'd expect when dealing with a local meat purveyor. read more

This was my first experience (other than in a restaurant) with Bledsoe pork. We bought some applewood smoked bacon at the W St market this weekend and it is now my go-to bacon. Sliced to my perfect thickness and the smoke flavor is also perfect....not too much, not too little. Well be back for more bacon and other products! read more

I went to the Sunday Market with the sole purpose of buying yummy pork products, at my best girlfriends urging. I bought a 2 pound package of bacon, and I was SO DISAPPOINTED. It has a rind on it that is like chewing leather shoe laces. It is non-edible. I can always count on Whole Foods for the best bacon ever, at a fraction of the price. read more
