When I visited the first time, 6 years ago, it was a restaurant. Now it is a well-stocked grocery and food counter with limited meal service. You order at the front counter or drive-up window and get your food in styrofoam. There are a scant few tables in back to eat your takeout food with plastic utensils. All entrees are $14.99. The rice and beans are both unforgivably bland, but the beans were a delightfully smooth consistency. Had to ask for salsa but adding a good spoonful in each side enhanced them significantly. My chili relleno was stuffed with a lot of rubbery white cheese; not melted at all. The pepper was paper thin. My friend's carnitas were full of what we were told was pork skin--something neither of us have seen in carnitas anywhere, ever; very unappetizing rectangles of firm, translucent, gelatinous mystery meat. Wow! I've never had better a service or food from anywhere in northern AZ. The ladies are so nice. The donuts are amazing. We now go once a week. They have everything from crepes to pork rinds to donuts to the best beef jerky ever. My wife loves the enchilada tacos. read more

Caveat: Azteca has become more expensive over the last several months which is unwarranted, however, you'll find lots of great groceries and produce here, and the butchered meats are fantastic as well. However, what you don't want to miss is their café. The meals are homemade on the grill and are some of the most flavorful Mexican dishes to be had in the Quad Cities! I love this place the food has good flavor but the pricing is a little off as well as the quantity of goods sold. Like the salsa is sold in the small containers generally around $5 for the what is normally a quarter pound container everywhere else in the valley sells twice that much for the same amount. We've pretty much tried it all the rice the beans are all flavorful the carne asada is cooked fresh and taste great our favorite go to is the whole chickens though we love those get those every single time. The sweet breads are great the staff is always friendly and nice we generally travel out of our way only about 10 Mi to never miss this place. I do wish they carry diet soda there is never anything but full sugar soda. The tortillas that are corn or fresh available and the rest of the selection is just as good as any other store. I have yet to try any of the fresh meat though but look forward to that as well as the mariscos. read more

First time coming here while on Prescott, and I'm impressed. We didn't get any hot food, so I can't say how that was. However the cold salsas are delicious, and there is so many options of snacks and foods that you can't find in regular stores. The service was great when we had some questions, and it just has a cool vibe inside. The hot food area was packed when we went, so I can only imagine how much folks enjoyed their food. The meats in the case also looked fresh, so this place is our new favorite spot to go to. read more

You know you've landed when the majority of patrons are hard working fun loving Mexicans. What's unique about Azteca, it's a combination restaurant and market. Nothing fancy, only a simple efficient business that displays and shines its red, green, and white pride to its community in PV. The people are very kind greeting with smiles, making the experience warm and inviting. I decided to try the taco enchilados carne asada. Esmeralda, great smile and very helpful with my order, was one of her favorites. Folks, these tacos were a religious experience. I'm 63, had many tacos from Mexico and the southwest, totally destroyed my entire expectations of an outstanding taco.... The best I've ever had.. What proceeds are my "old dude" impressions: *Ambience: You have stepped into the "old country", aromas/visuals are captivating *The tamale offerings and in-house corn and flour tortilla productions are 5-star quality: home made level! *Produce presentation, better use the "fresh stuff" same day you buy it! *Mexican sweet bread (PAN DULCE) not freshly made, did not ask, likely made somewhere else - dry, maybe two days old... *meat mart: appears fresh-ish, bought some London broil, fresh enough. The butcher will ask if you want certain cuts marinated, likely a plus. *there's an outside rotisserie chicken area, did not try but it looks and smells good. Not totally sure if attached to AZTECA. *Checkout is efficient and sociable, best to confirm prices though... Overall, the fresh tamales and tortillas earn FIVE STARS. All other facets of AZTECA rate about a THREE - fresh produce and pan dulce representations need improvement. read more

Every time I come to visit family I'm coming here. The food was so good and we had it the day before Thanksgiving. We ordered again on Thanksgiving night and it was delivered by Uber. The suit was quite amazing and tasty. The lines were fresh and the Asada was, OMG good. Nothing like an authentic taste of Aztec food when you are from LA California. Your food is made to order an extremely fresh. They have amazing deals on family packs if you're wanting to feed a family quickly, but don't have time to cook. My parents come here all the time and they scarfed down their food. The burritos are quite large and will last you all day depending on how you eat. I wish I had gotten more cicada tacos personally, but I guess I'll have to wait till the next trip. read more

Tried the fish tacos on a whim and I'm glad I did. Crispy on the outside, flaky inside, and not greasy at all. They came with a tangy slaw that balanced the richness perfectly. I wasn't expecting much but it totally impressed me. The cashier was super chill and even threw in an extra salsa to try. It's been about a month since we visited the store. Our first time there and was not exactly what I expected. They serve food there, as well as uncooked meats, and other items. The lady at the register helped us look for our wanted items. The place is clean and open. Just wasn't what I expected. This is our go-to place for tacos in the area! Specifically the street tacos or tacos enchillado. The enchillado tortilla is dipped and seared on the flat top. Layered with cheese, meat, lettuce, cream, and queso fresco. We usually get either carne asada or birria. Two to three tacos is plenty for a single person! The homemade tortillas are amazing also.
