Beautiful facility and a kind staff. My grandmother just passed but I'm so grateful her last few years were in such a lovely place.

That's the quality care you get a San Joaquin gardens. Two and a half months ago there was no sore on the foot. Now it's got gangrene and will have to be amputated. Go ahead send your parents here. Every one of them looked happy, healthy and fully engaged. They chatted happily about the lifestyle there, and were justifiably proud of their art, some of which boarders on museum quality, and all of which was expertly done! We got a tour of the property, and oh, my gosh! It is gorgeous. Well kept, clean Mediterranean style design. The amenities were many and varied from restaurants to a gym, from a residents' garden to clean, spacious, well equipped common spaces. There is also a facility tram, much like a combination community bus and taxi, which can be hailed on demand from convenient stops throughout the community. We noticed some negative Yelp reviews for short term convalescent care and we asked about it. Apparently some short term patients come expecting hospital level care for which The Terraces is not equipped. Understandable from our perspective. In general, this community of seniors is a wonderful facility. All of the staff we met were caring and friendly, and all of the residents we met seemed wholly satisfied. If this is a service you're researching, we highly recommend including this facility on your considerations.

As a backstory, my dad has Lewy Body dementia and can unfortunately get very aggressive. He is 61 years old and strong- not at all your average dementia patient. Care staff was more than patient with him and I can't express how grateful I am for them. There does seem to be lots of miscommunication between care staff and management about resident behavior, as I would hear that he was doing better from management but care staff would give me the real story of how his aggression was not getting any better. I made the obvious decision to move my dad because Cedarbrook was just too big for him and he kept having issues with his aggression. It just was not working and that's not fair to put on anyone. I received a call the day before he was set to move that he was out of a certain medication and they were having trouble getting it filled. He had been out for a few days and they waited until him moving to let me know. The reason his medication couldn't be filled was because it's a narcotic (Ativan) that can only be filled every 30 days- the length of his prescription. Long story short, almost half of the bottle was unaccounted for. I reviewed the medication log with the director of nursing and she stated my father refused to take the medication and it was discarded each time. Sounds reasonable, but why wasn't that documented? Especially with a narcotic that is extremely monitored and will not be refilled early. During this, a staff member (I believe her name was Bao) also admitted that since my dad was out of this medication, they had been borrowing some from another resident. Again, my dad is extremely difficult, but that makes me upset for the other resident and their family. I should have been notified immediately and been given the opportunity to reach out to his doctor for assistance. No residents should be sharing a medication, EVER. Please be mindful of bringing your loved one here. Nursing staff on the floor is great, but they need better management and a stronger set of policies and procedures in place.
