I walked into the store, checked in (but didn't have an appointment), the place was packed, however a salesman was immediately available. He asked what I was interested in, what I wanted in a vehicle & showed me as many as I wanted. Then I did a test drive on several but fell in love with one. I hate to car shop, but our experience with CarMax was so easy. The saleman, Drury met us at the door and sat down and asked us what we were hoping to buy and what price range. He only showed us cars that fit those criteria and didn't try to push us into a more expensive car. We purchased a 2014 Nissan Versa and a couple of days later noticed that the car pulled to the left. we scheduled a service call and after a couple of hours of rotating tires, balancing tires and changing out 1 they came to us and said that they were replacing all 4 tires!! CarMax was such a great experience! I loathe car shopping, because it's usually a whole day even once you know what you want to purchase, and it's just a hassle negotiating the price. Went to Bill Knight and got screwed over. They sold the car out from under us while we were doing the paperwork. Long story short, we went to CarMax and are very pleased we did. Not only did they hold both of the cars we were interested in but they also helped us find the car we were looking for and had it transferred. Excellent customer service. The process was extremely slow. Our salesperson was brand new and had not been properly trained. She had to keep leaving to get answers and instructions. After spending hours during the buying process, we received a call a week later that we had to back in to redo the whole process because they had typed our names wrong. I've never bought a used car before so this was a new experience. Initially, I took in a car that I was going to sell. CarMax was great to look over the car and give a professional estimate of value. While I waited, I walked around the lot and was amazed and the quality of vehicles they offered. Mitchell Mora, an extremely helpful sales person, was eager to show and discuss the cars I was interested in. I ended up selling the car to my son's roommate but was glad that I had the CarMax appraisal for the buyer. I then went back to Mitchell Mora and purchased an amazing Honda. -1 Had a CRZ was shipped, didn't call me when it came in or tell me why it took longer. Also sitting around in the dealership waiting multiple times. -1 Presentation of the car was crappy. Rims had mud run off and tire mount grease stuck to them. -1 Stuff I noticed later, coolant reserve and wiper fluid low; wiper blades coming apart. (filled the fluids myself, if they need a hint: I wouldn't mind being reimbursed for all of these items) -1 Half ass customer service response. Especially since they sell at a higher price. 1 star. The team that does their paperwork was very professional and organized. I was contacted after I did a survey, and offered an oil change, something that they told me they did. So no, an oil change I shouldn't need won't do it. Then I contacted the email they put on their response to my google review, no response yet. I'm fully willing to have them earn those stars back on this and the google review, if they want to actually try to make it right. read more

I was recently in a car wreck that totaled my car and I was looking for a new car and needed something quickly. I went to a couple of dealerships and despise the car sales pitches. We have sold 3 cars and bought one car from CarMax on memorial then went in last week to sell another vehicle gave us a purchase amount stopped in on last day of offer period to sell the vehicle but needed additional information went in 1 day after offer expired and offer was 1,000 less due to their mistake. Would not stand behind offer so we walked will never do business with them again and will not recommend them to any friends and family. read more

Tulsa's Carmax has exceptional customer service. They will help you get anything you need to maximize your car buying experience. The customer experience is genuine and thorough. However, the car I bought was not a good buy at all. Carmax sells good looking cars but they do the very minimum to ensure the car will get off the lot. It is best to purchase their warranty, but the warranty they offer still doesn't cover the issues to get the car that I bought to the running condition that it should be in to only have had the car four months. The car that I purchased has engine problems that will cost me 2G to fix. I had to discover through a bad purchase that Carmax mechanics aren't equipped to handle Volkswagens and the only option Carmax would offer me was to buy the car back or allow me to trade it for another car there. I ended up having to take it to the dealer and still paying for all the problems that the warranty doesn't cover. Please understand that Carmax is strictly a retailer and does not stand by their vehicles like the manufacturer does. read more

Do your homework, look at pricing as they do not negotiate and typically they're hire then most others. No finance department to fight for your best deal. If they can get you approved, most likely you can buy elsewhere, as mist dealers have the same lenders. I paid approximately 1000 to 1500 more, didn't notice til it was done...they like to tell you to refinance later if you wanna lower your payments later, well banks do not refinance neg. equity. If able, get your own financing, most dealers hate this because they cannot make points on rate, etc. Good luck and happy hunting! read more

Car buying experience was OK until closing. Come to find out the salesperson just flat out lied about the car warranty term and what it actually covers. Lisa (sales person) claims to have sold over three hundred cars at CarMax, so she should know how the CarMax warranty works and terms of the warranty. I scheduled an appointment to have my car appraised and quickly received a confirmation email from CarMax. When I arrived at my scheduled time, I was greeted immediately by Kyle. He thanked me for coming in and while we waited a short time for my appraisal to be completed, we looked through the CarMax inventory. I had a particular vehicle in mind when I went to CarMax. Although CarMax did not have what I was looking for, Kyle showed me comparable vehicles. When my appraisal was completed I was very happy with the offer CarMax made. This was a wonderful experience, I was given every option and the process was explained thoroughly. I have bought two cars at CarMax Tulsa and am glad I did. They were professional from start to finish. The cars were like new and reasonably priced. I would rather be drawn and quartered than have to "haggle" or negotiate a price. The salesman was never pushy and always helpful and pleasant. Also, they did not rip me off on the trade-in. I'd never ever ever ever ever ever ever.... did I mention ever buy a car from Carmax again! They live by this standard that they do a 125 point inspection on a vehicle. I bough a BMW with 50k miles on it and to my surprise a couple of months later, the transmission seals were leaking very badly. The BMW dealership advised me that these had been leaking for a while so this was not normal wear and tear. Head gasket was noticed to be leaking, and there was a small hole in the radiator. So much for that 125 point inspection huh? More like a 2 point inspection, the door opens and it starts.... I wouldn't buy a skateboard from these guys. read more

They sold me a lemon! I have contacted the local store as well as wrote an email in regards to the struggle I have endured since purchasing my Mini Cooper S from Carmax on March 15, 2014. It has multiple ongoing problems discovered within the first month of purchase and have become increasingly expensive even with my extended warranty. I feel as though I was mislead with my purchase and that Carmax has given me the run around rather than take responsibility. The cost of the car ended up being close to $20k and yet just a year and a few months later the buy back offer wouldn't exceed $6k, simply because it is such a terrible vehicle. This company has me upside down in a loan with a car that cannot make it from point A to point B with certainty. I was promised some sort of reconciliation for the obvious trouble this car has given me but so far no one has came close to helping in anyway. I am asking for help so I can find some way of getting out from under this car before my child goes without her next meal. I purchased a 2011 Mercedes C300 from CarMax in Tulsa and the two things I wanted in a car were Luxury and Bluetooth. I found the car I liked in my test drive and the sales man told me that it was equipped with Bluetooth. Little did I know that the Bluetooth system was not working. So I took it back to CarMax and they looked at it after me owning the car for about only 2 weeks. They said that they didn't know why it was acting like that and that I should take my car to the Mercedes dealership and have it looked at. So I took it to Mercedes and they said the part that's in my car is a Mercedes part but was not made for my model. And they only way I could make it even have power was to open my glove box, undo a box, unplug a cord, plug the cord back in, put the box back in place, close the glove box....THEN I could turn on my car. But I would have to do that every time I got in my car. That's why it is not working. So I took it back to CarMax and they told me that they could not do anything about the issue anymore because it does have the capability to have Bluetooth but its my fault for not finding this issue before I bought the car or telling them with in the first 30 days of my purchase. But I did tell them on the second week and it was put in my notes of my car to get looked at. read more
