12/8/2021 Mara (Service Manager) at the Carmax in Meridian is just as clueless as any other employee at any CarMax I've been to. She relies on silly excuses to get out of any possible customer service. I now realize CarMax has their employees stall, delay and deny any reasonable customer service assistance possible. She's a complete and utter disappointment working as a Service Manager. She'd be better suited as a night janitor. Reason why? She has the best possibility of not disappointing anyone at that level of an employee. But, I could be wrong. She could set the place on fire. If CarMax is only going to have ONE dealership in the entire state of Idaho, you'd think they would all give 100% to make the Meridian location a stellar one. Unfortunately, this is another useless dealership just like the rest. Incompetence times a million is an understatement.

I felt rushed and pressured to make a decision on my trade-in by sales rep David Pick. I will never again give my business to CarMax.

You hear about the horror stories about used car dealerships, and my wife and I are old enough to prove the point. We hate shopping for cars. We encountered Ruby's Motors when browsing AutoTrader, They were well rated and we thought we would give them a try. We were a bit concerned when their gate was closed and we were instructed to call a phone number listed on a sign on the fence. Don't be put off by this. It was well worth the effort. Ruby's is a husband-and-wife team comprised of two very professional people. They are very particular of the vehicles that they offer and take great effort to ensure that they are in good condition and clean. We ended up purchasing a Honda Odyssey at Ruby's for our granddaughter's boyfriend. We would have purchased a car for our granddaughter as well however we were looking for a CRV or RAV4 and they did not have any on the lot during our visit. They went above and beyond expectations during the documentation phase, providing information and potential problems to look for in the vehicles we were looking for. These are honest people, providing the same level of service that they would want themselves. I highly recommend them as an honest and professional dealership and would not hesitate to use them again if we need another vehicle in the future. I can't say that about many car dealerships, new or used.

I work on cars as a hobby and am a collector. Your guy said you guys didn't even own a scanner. I find that hard to believe. It did have warning lights on. I'm sure those have been cleared so they aren't on for the next test drive. We left because we had so many red flags going off, I needed to talk with my bank and ended up calling and talking with someone who deals with used car dealers a lot and they told us to walk away. I didn't expect a perfect car, by any means, but when you say it has only one current problem and it has a list, including MAJOR ones those aren't "quirks". Your add doesn't mention them still. You keep your facebook marketplace profile all positives because you block those that aren't happy before they leave a review. That tells it all. Yes we left, because we were uncomfortable.... That's on you. Yes we started paperwork, so what! Your conversations there while we were starting it were so unprofessional with your business partner we just decided to go somewhere else. Not sure of what "harsh jokes", we didn't make any jokes. We did a REVIEW and shared why we won't be back. After you begged me to come back (another $200 off) and blocked me, yeah says a different tune than your response to my review. His claim of an old 2024 invoice in the glovebox is also a lie. I've attached a copy of the picture I took. It is a fail notice for emissions for Oregon dated 5/9/2026. Vin # WMWMF7354TL90817 Also, here is one screen shot of the code scanner. NO codes?? Original review: sketchy business practices. Drove from the coast to look at a mini cooper. I was told it was in good operating shape, just a bad sunroof motor. It had 9 fault codes, a bad battery, a broken radio display, and the air conditioning didn't work. We discussed price, but then the title wasn't on hand. They kept offering to write the bill of sale for less to save on licensing. Paperwork in the glovebox showed they failed emissions on it due to cleared codes. We left. He messaged me while I was driving trying to knock 200 more off, but I was driving so i didn't read the messages until I got home. Then I noticed he had blocked me. It proved my suspicion. The building has 3 different names of dealerships on the same wall. That should tell you all you need to know, plus one side of the lot has cars for sale, the other side has cars not "on the lot yet" that are in various stages of repair. Run away

Jeff Stone at Premier saved me about $4,000 this week. I have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer... and THREE other local shops had told me that the repair needed to get the vehicle past DEQ would run me upwards of $3k. I'd basically written my Chevy off as junk, and literally went to Premier to look at buying a Chevy truck he had listed online... (I chose Premier in the first place for two reasons: (1) they often deal with vehicles previously owned by governments ... those kinds of vehicles have excellent maintenance histories, and (2) because of the other positive reviews here on Yelp... glad I did that! Good lord... find a decent car on CL and then check Yelp for the dealer's rep ... 80% of them are freaking *nightmares*!) Anyway, when I got there, he said that I really didn't need another car. Instead, he suggested that his shop could fix my current car's problem for a price that I honestly couldn't believe (under $700, and that included extras like new brakes, a new muffler, and some other small repairs). Sure enough, a few days later, the big problem was gone, the car was in much better shape b/c of the additional stuff, the car passed DEQ, and best of all I didn't have to buy another car. He even loaned me a beater while they worked on mine. I'd saved up (well, borrowed) ~$5k for this whole hassle, and wound up in a much better place for way less than $1k by the time I paid him & went to the DMV, etc. So, he actually saved me $4k+. I had a good look around at their shop while there... these guys *know* motors. (Not that I'm exactly qualified to say that, of course, but I just got the impression walking around their shop that these guys actually know what they're doing about 10x more than the other shops I'd been to in recent times w/ respect to the same problem I was having.) Anyway, I hope I don't need a new (used) vehicle for a good long while, but if and when that day comes, I am 100% going to see Jeff @ Premier, and will recommend them to as many others as I can.

I was never told the deposit was non-refundable, I never signed a purchase agreement stating that it was non-refundable, and the Craigslist advertisement did not state that deposits were non-refundable. I made it clear that I was calling from San Diego and needed time to arrange reasonably priced transportation for the trailer. About a week later, Jim sent me a contract asking me to sign paperwork stating that the deposit was non-refundable and pressured me to complete the purchase that week or lose my deposit. I disputed the $500 charge with American Express. During the dispute, the merchant told Amex that signs at all three of their locations state that sales are non-refundable and claimed that I therefore knew this policy. The problem is simple: I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO ANY OF THEIR LOCATIONS. I have never even been to Portland. I called them from San Diego after seeing their Craigslist advertisement. In my experience, their explanation to American Express completely misrepresents how this transaction occurred. Before doing business with this merchant, I strongly recommend reading the reviews on Yelp and Google and paying close attention to complaints regarding their business practices. Based on my experience, I would never do business with Steve, Jim, or this company again. If you are considering buying anything from them, make sure every representation, deposit term, refund policy, and condition of sale is IN WRITING before giving them a dollar. BUYER BEWARE.
