They scour adds on Facebook and elsewhere, then offer to buy your car for "close" to the value. I sensed something was fishy when they told me my offer would change after a week (we were in the midst of a snowstorm and I couldn't get there), and then the offer price dropped almost $1K. Then I told the guy I wouldn't sell for that, and I thought that was it. I told him I could trade in my car for more than their offer, and he snarkily replied "well you'll have to give me that contact because there's no way you'll get that price". So a week later the guy contacts me again saying they'll buy my car for the original offer because it's the end of the month, blah blah blah. I had a horrible feeling, so I passed. I'm now sitting at Carmax with the same car, a month later, with an offer for $2K MORE than these guys told me was the highest offer (and more than I listed the car for). I had the unfortunate experience in being mislead by Cece at the Westminster office. I was selling my Jeep Wrangler and they contacted me. Upon initial discussion, she stated we were very close to my asking price and what they could possibly offer, pending a visual overview and test drive of my vehicle. Upon arriving at the office, she took some additional pictures and again asked what I was asking in price , and again reiterated we were very close and the vehicle was in good condition. The appraiser comes down the stairs 15 minutes later to come out with an offer of 5k less then what we discussed. Needless to say , it went nowhere and the GM got involved upon my request. He even supported my request to have Cece present and she didn't even deny our conversation but did state she doesn't make the final decision on offers. I have our text messages recorded and it still didn't matter. It's evident this was a typical practice to get you in the door. Initially, we were super happy about how easy the process was. Be warned though.... when they tell you that there is a 48 hour wait to receive your funds, that is not accurate. The contract that you sign is worded, "Funds will appear on your bank statement as a Wire Transfer". It is however an ACH which according to the bank takes at LEAST 3 business days, sometimes longer. Then we come to find that we'd made a mistake on our account number which caused a delay....ok. But once it was corrected, it took another 3 business days, numerous calls, emails. etc. The local store manager tried to help but corporate left him hanging without information or even calling him back. Do not do business with them if you want prompt payment. We could have sold our car for cash much easier and with less stress than this has been. read more

On Nov 29th I received a call from Chris in the Vancouver, WA location, offering to buy my truck. The call was pleasant, no hassle, and they sent a team up that evening to pick up my truck in Tacoma (2 hours away). We did the paperwork, including a power of attorney so they could take care of all the title transfer info, and authorization from me for them to pay off my lien at my credit union in MO. They added $250 to my payoff amount from the CU website, because it might take a few days to get them payment. Chris assured me that this would be ok, and the CU would send me the excess funds. A few days later, Chris sent me new paperwork, saying that the payoff amount I approved was too much, and they needed to do it over. I returned that paperwork immediately. On December 12th, I saw that the CU had processed the payoff. When I contacted Chris to inquire about receiving the rest of my equity payment. He directed me to contact my CU to find out where they sent the title. Keep in mind, I was led to believe that Auto Pro Buys was going to take care of all of the paperwork. I contacted the CU on the 13th. They hadn't received any instructions with the payoff telling them what to do with the registration paperwork. I told them to FedEx it to me, overnight, and I would take care of the rest. I also informed Chris that I had the paperwork coming to me, and expressed my frustration that after two weeks they had not shown any urgency to complete the paperwork or finish the payout, to which he replied he would follow up the next day (Friday). On Monday night, after not hearing from him, I emailed again, asking for an update. Tuesday afternoon (December 18) I received instructions to send registration document provided by my bank (an EXACT duplicate of the one they received from me the night they took possession of my truck) and the lien release letter to them. I immediately took the requested documents to FedEx and sent them overnight. (I've now spent over $50 expediting documents that they were supposed to be handling). When I sent the tracking number for the paperwork, they said that they sent my equity check. I had expressed several times my disappointment and frustration in the delays in receiving my payment--delays that were totally within their control. However, my check was sent regular mail, not arriving at my house until December 24th. I had inquired several times about the possibility of them wiring the funds (both the payoff and the equity balance) to my CU. That was not an option. The initial buying experience was excellent, but it is more than disappointing that it took 25 days to complete this transaction, and that it took this much effort on my part to take care of the paperwork. If you have title in hand, or your bank is in the same location, they might be a good choice. Based on my experience, I would not recommend using them if you bank out of town, as they seem to have no sense of urgency to complete the transaction once the vehicle is in their possession. read more

I sold my BMW M2 on 9/4/21to the Clackamas Oregon AUTO Pro Buys store, I signed an agreement to not deposit the check until 9/7/21, when I did deposit the check it was returned due to insufficient funds . The representative told me that due to the holiday there had been a glitch and that they would give me a check from another bank to cover the money owed and that I would be able to get the money that day (9/7/21) The second check that I deposited in my bank was put on hold a day later for insufficient funds. After repeated phone calls I was shown a screenshot from the original bank that said they had the funds, but my bank is holding the funds for another eight days until it clears. I am NOT happy with having to wait nearly two weeks to get the money owed to me for the car I sold them. Frankly a screenshot doesnt pay my bills. NOT a good way to do business! read more

Took my 2014 Lexus (13000 miles)into carmax to sell it. What I valued at around $21000, carmax offered me $17,000. When I came into Auto Pro's I was offered $18,000. So this place gave me a $1000 more than carmax, word to the wise, if your going to sell your car quickly go to both places but I bet Auto Pros makes you happier and richer. They have great customer service the only drawback is if you have a loan you have to wait until that's paid off and they get the title. read more

This places business practices seem shady at best. I was selling an F450 dually truck on Craigslist. Got a text and phone call from one of their "salespeople". Said he was interested in coming to see the vehicle. We made arrangements to meet and I asked him why he was looking for a truck like mine since it's a pretty specific use type of vehicle. He finally came clean that he was a "buyer" for this company and they have a customer "looking for a truck just like mine". I knew this was going to be nothing more than a low wholesale offer at best and told him I wasn't interested and my ad even stated I wasn't going to deal with car dealers, wholesalers, etc. then I hung up. Over the next few hours I got calls and texts from him and his supposed boss offering me a $50 Visa card to just stop by. It was rather sad the desperation they had but honestly $50 wasn't worth the waste of my time. This business model may work for you if you don't want the hassle of selling a car but realize it will probably cost you thousands on any vehicle of value not to mention the sales tax advantage you'll lose by trading a vehicle in on another one. My biggest issue is how they aren't up front initially about who they are, but if they were I'm sure they wouldn't get near the meetings with people selling their car. read more
