I returned from our annual FL trip to find a fair amount of ceiling damage, the leak obviously was not properly fixed. In late May I called Paul. Turns out they are too busy to talk on the phone and they prefer email. I waited a month, reached out again, and was reminded that he was still too busy to talk to me. Now it's 3 months later. Numerous recent calls and emails and no response at all. He did a poor job initially and now refuses to own it. So if you are looking for someone who is reliable, responsible, responsive, and easy to work with you should look elsewhere, Paul Johnson is not your guy. She asked for a retainer and I responded to her, so that there was no misunderstanding what did this retainer cover, drawings and an itemized breakdown of cost, her reply was yes. I never received drawings or a plan, other than a pencil sketch and there was no breakdown of cost. Our 2nd meeting she provides a sketch which did not take into consideration the changes we asked for. The estimates for plumbing, electrical , floor refinishing , painting. were plus or minus 2-3 k. Did not leave that meeting with positive vibe. After three weeks of texts and voicemails, repeatedly asking her for an itemized cost breakdown and never received a response from her we decided to take our business elsewhere. Once I told her we decided to go in a different direction due to her lack of response we received a estimate for the total scope of work. Still no itemized breakdown or drawings/plans. I find this odd in order to give me a total cost she must have gotten cost from her sub contractors. I asked her to refunded half of our retainer since she did meet with us a couple of times I thought this would be fair compromise. She refused to refund any funds. All I can say is do your homework and think twice before working with her.

If you answered yes to any of the above then this is definitely your place. If not, then perhaps seek someone who is truly a design professional. Seriously, if it comes down to a choice between spending money here or lighting it on fire I recommend the latter. At least there will be some brief light and warmth.

A utility pole owned by us and located on our Cape Cod property was broken during a windstorm in…read moreJuly 2021. The pole supplies power and other utilities to 3 of our adjacent properties. A large pine tree was severed in the windstorm and toppled onto the pole during the storm, causing the pole to break and bringing the wires down onto the ground, interrupting power, telephone, and internet/TV service to all 3 properties. Upon my call to them, Eversource did go to the site and cleared a path to the pole, but they advised that the pole was our responsibility. By now it was Friday evening and I was 100 miles away. Finding a utility pole contractor on Cape Cod on a Friday night seemed daunting. I began Googling and identified 3 contractors including Farrell. Tim Farrel answered the call immediately, and after a short description of the problem he advised that he would have a crew there the next morning. I hired him on the spot. Oscar Farrell had his crew, including 2 bucket trucks, on site before 9am Saturday morning. After assessing the situation, they removed the old pole, installed the new pole, and rehung the electric wires, including making temporary repairs to the service drop of one of the houses, restoring power to all 3 homes by 6:30pm. Internet, cable TV, and phone service was restored the next day by Comcast and Verizon. A firm quote was not requested due to the urgency, and while the cost for the work was somewhat more than what was initially discussed over the phone (without either of us seeing the damage), I felt that the cost was fair considering the complexity of feeding 3 homes in a wooded and storm damaged scene. Farrell's responsiveness, timeliness, and good work restoring power to our tenants was outstanding. Farrell did all the coordination with Eversource and our tenants, since I could not be there. The work was done quickly and efficiently without needing any of my involvement. I'm very impressed and I highly recommend Farrell Electric for utility electric work.

Mike Smith and company had nothing to gain from helping me- but he did…read more Here's the back-story; Mike was replacing a kitchen in a home and the homeowner decided to give away her old kitchen on Craigslist. I was the lucky recipient but all I had was a medium sized van to move the kitchen. The first trip, Mike made sure to meet me at the house, introduce me to his fellow workers and asked two of the workers, who are also two wonderful guys (Jason and Zack) to load the kitchen into my van. My van was too small, so it was clear that additional trips would be necessary. Rain, snow and wind happened and days passed. In the interim, Mike's crew had finished the job (which looked stunning). And even though it was a deal between the homeowner and myself, and the job was over, Mike, Zack and Jason met me and loaded the van two additional times. It is rare to find contractors that do excellent work and clean up after themselves, but to find men who also will go above and beyond just because they are great guys is something you want to tell others about. I recently had a kitchen fully renovated and decided to go with Augustus Construction after reading…read morea few reviews and meeting with the owner, Brian Hopkins. I used a kitchen designer from another state who I've worked with before, and there were several details that hadn't been worked out prior to Augustus Construction starting the project. Covid-19 complicated the work even further with delays both for the cabinets and the appliances. During the time most of the work was being done, I was out-of-state but could see from the outdoor security cameras that workers were on-site first completing the demo, and then preparing the space for the cabinets & appliances. Brian stayed in contact with me when any questions or issues came up, but for the most part he and his team handled everything on-site. I returned to the Cape in late July for the first time since the project began and was very happy to not only see most of the construction was complete, but more importantly, that every issue that I had mentioned during the planning stage and afterwards had been addressed in a way that exceeded my expectations. When I've worked with other contractors in the past, usually things get done the 'easy' way for the contractor rather than what the client wants, especially if the client isn't on-site overseeing the work. Brian & his team paid attention to the finishing details, and from my experience, that hasn't been a common quality of other contractors I've worked with. But best of all, everything was done as perfectly as possible, and I didn't have to beg, plead, or harass anyone to return to finish the job. The job was 100% completed and I'm 100% satisfied.
