Is Loom Bistro the best restaurant outside (or inside) Ottawa?…read more Yup, it might be. It's our 2nd time at Loom Bistro inside this lovely little B&B and it proved that the first time wasn't a fluke. This was another spectacular scrumptious playfully delicious meal. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. The blue cheesecake with crostini and fig jam was out of this world. As unique a tasting cheese appetizer as I've ever had. The empanadas were fresh and lovely. The short rib was moist as moist can be...the bacon topped bread pudding along side it was perfection. The fresh pasta with wild boar was delectable and mild but complex and superb. Both desserts were splendid and paired perfectly. The very sweet chocolate cake and the more creamy tart cheesecake. With 2 glasses of wine and 20% tip it was $150. Worth every penny and then some. Kudos to the chef...show yourself and take a bow. The hotel is great (please put some curtains in the judges chamber...!!) We love our quarterly staycation here. Rob the innkeeper is super friendly and responsive. Highly highly recommend.

The innkeeper, Rob, greeted me warmly and carried my bag up to my room -- spacious, clean, bright, with a magnificent river view. Such a gorgeous building. Staff all very friendly. Restaurant to die for. First night the exquisitely talented Chef Hunter served me salmon that had been smoked over maple chips and basted with a maple glaze. Superb wine list. Second night was a steak salad with the most flavorful tomatoes I have ever tasted. Fresh herbs from their garden garnish most dishes. And sensational desserts! Breakfasts were amazing: you request a time to have your choice of coffee delivered to your room and then a half hour later, you saunter into the restaurant where your breakfast is waiting - first day I had coddled eggs (absolute perfection) with buttery, crunchy toast fingers, and the next I ordered shirred eggs. My stay was flawless. If I could make one recommendation, it would be to have a hair dryer in the room. Cannot wait to recommend to visiting friends and relatives.

Really enjoyed our stay this past weekend at Moonstone Manor!…read more This B&B is located in a large, newly renovated home. There are three guest suites each meant for two adults, so at any given time there are at max 6 adult guests. Combined with being out in the country, this means that it is nice and QUIET! A rare and refreshing quality. There are many things to praise but I cannot continue without mentioning that Susie and Mark, the owners, are the best asset of this business. They are both incredibly welcoming, hospitable, and attentive, while also being conscious of giving you space as a guest to do your thing. Upon checking in, Susie sat down with us to discuss breakfast. She is careful to note any allergies or aversions, and to review the menu in advance! We were able to schedule our breakfast for any time between 7-9am. Breakfast itself was generous and more importantly, delicious! We had yogurt with fruit and homemade granola, quiche, potatoes, a stuffed tomato, juice, and all the coffee we could drink. The last thing I want to focus on is that this house is remarkably CLEAN. Susie and Mark have two friendly, quiet dogs and two cats, but unless you are looking right at them you'd never know it. I am actually allergic to dogs and cats, and had zero reaction during my two night stay. In her past Susie worked in a healthcare field and it shows...this is one of the cleanest houses I've ever been in. But it did not feel sterile and cold, quite the opposite. I happened to be visiting for a wedding in Kanata but I will happily stay at Moonstone Manor anytime I need to be in the Ottawa area. It's a quick 20 minute drive downtown to the ByWard Market/Parliament/National Gallery/etc. I can't see myself ever getting a hotel in the city knowing that this is an option. All that to say, if you are thinking of staying here, do it!

The rooms are well equipped with everything you need i had the room at the back and overlooked the rear garden and they have a hot tub which you are allowed to use. Breakfast is really good Susie will ask on day of check in what you like for breakfast and at what time and breakfast is ready at that time. Its close to Ottawa and the Canadian Tire Centre.

We paid $152 a night including taxes and fees (booked directly through the hotel, not a third party). This hotel is right off Highway 401, so very convenient. We had a room facing the Brockville Convention Centre and not facing the highway, so noise was not a problem. It is within walking distance to a few shops, restaurants, and fast food joints. It's a Holiday Inn Express, so the rooms are pretty basic. No fridge, no microwave. However, you get free hot breakfast buffet, free WiFi and free parking. The rooms were clean. I carry Clorox wipes with me when I stay in hotels and I wipe down all the hard surfaces. The wipes came out white (not grey or black), so I was happy. There were some stains on the fabric computer chair at the desk though, so this was a bit off-putting, but I've seen much worse at other hotels. They have a small fitness centre and pool. I didn't use the pool, but I saw it because the pool and fitness centre are separated by a glass wall. I think it's a bit weird to have to look at people in the pool while you're on the elliptical, but I guess the glass wall makes the fitness centre look and feel not as small. The fitness centre is tiny. The sign says maximum room capacity is 6 people (!) The room only has 1 elliptical, 2 stationary bikes and a treadmill, no free weights/dumbbells, so I have no idea what the other 2 people would be doing, lol. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't any weights, but given the small space, I guess that's understandable. So I had to be a cardio bunny during our stay, haha. The breakfast buffet was good and comparable to other Holiday Inn Expresses. We stayed for 2 nights and the breakfast selection did not change. The hot breakfast was turkey sausage, pork sausage and scrambled eggs. They had a pancake machine. They had cinnamon buns, muffins, bagels, English muffins, and bread. They had oatmeal (with toppings you can add like raisins, walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon), 4 types of cereal, yogurt, and boiled eggs. They had juices, coffee, tea and hot chocolate (the last 3 are available 24/7). All the staff were exceptionally nice. Stella was very warm and welcoming. They also give you Tic-Tacs in your room when you arrive and housekeeping writes you a nice welcome note. After our first night there, I left a thank-you note for housekeeping along with our tip and mentioned that I loved the Tic-Tacs. When we returned, our room attendant (Kylie) wrote me a nice note back and gave me extra Tic-Tacs! How nice was that? They also called our room on the second night that we were there to ask us if everything was ok with our room (they may have called us on our first night there but we weren't in our room so we don't know). This HIE also has free popcorn in the lobby everyday from 7pm-9pm. We didn't have the opportunity to have any, but I think that it's a very nice extra. WiFi was fast and reliable. Parking was plentiful. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
