Update 5/25/18 We moved into another house which had electric baseboard heating that cost us $1k/month to heat over the past winter. I called Carjon to come over and give me some options. Rob Lanni, the same rep that took care of us many years ago, actually remembered us from the old house. Rob is awesome. He recommended an electric mini-split system that is super efficient. He took the time to evaluate the home and design a system that would maximize airflow and at the same time be aesthetically pleasing both on the inside and outside the home. He also pointed out major flaws with a quote we received from another plumbing and heating company. After visualizing a plan, he went to his van, brought in his laptop, books, manuals and a printer, sat at our counter and like a wizard, hammered out a detailed quote right then and there. The quote came out to be about $1k less than our other quote. Again, the install was prompt and professional. 2 full days of specialists sweating buckets in the attic and running lines. Even Rob was there getting himself dirty. As they were wrapping up, they made sure I was satisfied and all my questions were answered. About a week after the install, I received a packet of all the necessary paperwork for a National Grid rebate. I would highly recommend Carjon with any services they provide. read more

This company charges a $165 fee to come to your house to assess the issue. This is not refundable and they do not apply that to the repair if you move forward. In my case they charged me $1,135 to replace a fan and capacitor on an AC unit. The parts retail for less than $200 and they were on site for less than one hour total. This includes transportation as I live in the same town they operate in. This is price gouging and I will not use them again in any circumstanc. read more

We recently moved into a house that had mini splits installed by Carjon. We were having some issues so called to see if someone could come out. Given the summer timing, it was about ten days out but they called two days later saying they had a technician in the area who could come out that day. Dan was very professional and knowledgable. Answered our questions and was able to get us back up and running all nice and cool! All for a very reasonable price. We will be using Carjon in the future for any of our mini split service and needs! read more

Horrible local company that I would not recommend to anyone. Let's start off with the sales person that pushes you to get the most expensive systems that do not make much logical sense. Here's one of his ideas: use one split-air unit in the master bedroom and open the doors to all bedrooms to share the cool air. What about privacy, genius? To the technician that came to my house and asked my father why didn't he kick me out of the house since I'm old enough to live on my own... well hello there, it happens to be my house and I happen to be a responsible daughter that looks after my elderly parents. To the service manager who came to my house and deemed it "unsafe" to service after I called out how crappy a job his technicians did after installing my central air system. But it was perfectly safe before they installed the unit and when they took my money. How bad was the installation? Just think of it as one room feeling like a wind storm while another room felt like a walk in Death Valley. And a leaked ceiling to boot. If I had to do it all over again, I would NEVER use this business. They are horrible and do not care about their quality. All they care about is money. read more

We had Carjon install and service our mini split systems. We also have a service contract. They handle everything, from researching and obtaining discounts, installation, and yearly checks. The telephone staff are friendly and helpful, and the service technicians show up and get the job done. The equipment is first rate. We wouldn't use anyone else. read more

Jason came out to do an annual air conditioner service. He was professional, quick, answered some maintenance questions for me, had no objection to wearing a mask. Have you ever seen a service tech whip out a dustpan and whisk broom to clean up the debris that fell out of the attic access on to the stairs? I had never seen that before, and it impressed me. Carjon was here for our annual air conditioning service and we have nothing but praise for them. Knowing how busy they get, we made the appointment months early and several days ahead they called us to reconfirm, checking to be sure no one in our house was ill and reminding us to wear masks. On the appointment day, they called to let us know Steven was on the way, and he arrived minutes later. Patient, courteous and efficient, Steve went about his work, asked some questions, asked if we had any, cleaned up and was on his way in next to no time. Friendly, helpful, efficient - you cannot ask for more, but if you did we are sure Carjon would go out of their way to provide it. read more

Waited weeks for a salesman to come out for a quote on central ac for my home. Requested a quote for a ducted United and the Mitsubishi ductless. Then weeks go by and no quote so I call to follow up. Finally got the quote with some computer error excuse but there were two quotes for ducted systems. I called back and left another message requesting the ductless quote we talked about still waiting for for this elusive quote. The sals rep was a my house the end of September. I guess they don't need the business. I have moved on to other Mitsubishi diamond dealers who have had no issues getting me a quote on the spot or within 24 hours. read more

I used Carjon in 2018 to install a mini-split, and was very happy with their initial service. They were responsive and prompt, and I was quite happy with the work done during a busy time of year. Since I have had the initial installation, I have found it much harder to coordinate maintenance. Originally, I was contacted by Carjon to go over potential service options. However, after I replied I did not hear back, and another follow-up email didn't result in a response either. I wind up thinking that it's not a big problem in the scheme of things, and would use them again if I needed something installed, but it was somewhat disappointing. Overall, their work was good quality and they were helpful in my decision making process. read more

If I were rating this company for its deceptiveness, I would give it 5 stars. I called Carjon to set up an appointment for a routine cleaning of my Mitsubishi ductless air-conditioning unit. My unit was working perfectly but after this very hot and humid summer, I thought it was a good idea to get a little preventative maintenance to keep things in good working order. Why wait until something breaks, especially with the oppressive heat and humidity during the summer of 2018. I was quoted a price of $135 and told if my unit was especially dirty, it might cost more. It sounded perfectly reasonable and I made the appointment. About 4 days later, Carjon came out to clean my unit.....or so I thought. The technician came into my kitchen and within a couple of minutes, called me out to look at my unit and declared that it was dirtier than what a routine cleaning would cover and that he did not have time to clean it today. What? I had cleared my schedule to make sure I was home for the cleaning and it was only 12:00 noon. Why would he need to come back to clean it? He said I would receive a quote by email and then he would return. It was puzzling.......this was not a service call to fix a broken unit where parts might have to be ordered......this was a cleaning. He called the office, took a check for $99 and then left. Later in the day, I received a quote for nearly $1000 on top of the fee I had paid for the tech to come out bringing the grand total to $1100 for a cleaning? The tech had told me my unit had some dust in it and the coils looked as though it had some mold, hence the more thorough cleaning. I asked if it was unusual to have mold on the coils and he said no, it is perfectly normal, especially if the unit is located near the kitchen. My unit was not malfunctioning and there were no odors emanating from it. Needless to say, I was shocked by the quote. If I added a few hundred dollars more, I could have bought a new unit instead of paying $1100 to clean the unit I already had. It was beyond ridiculous and it actually made me angry that this company has probably been taking advantage of unsuspecting and generally trusting customers for years. They send the tech to your home to scope out the surroundings to see what you can afford, utter the word "mold" which basically pushes the panic button for most people, and then send an unbelievably inflated quote to spray some anti-mold solution on the coils and vacuum out some dust. They also claim they have to dismantle the entire unit and then rebuild it to perform this task which would most likely break the unit. Then, they can charge you for repairs on top of the cleaning. If they are at your home for 3 hours doing this work, you would be paying them $366 an hour to clean an average Mitsubishi unit if you get an $1100 quote for that service. It is beyond outrageous and companies like Carjon should be under more scrutiny to protect average consumers from this routine rip off. The whole experience reminded me of that movie Tin Men (con men selling aluminum siding in the 1970's).....the shtick they performed was nearly identical. They probably pull off the charade more times than not and end up pocketing all of those unseemly profits, laughing all the way to the bank at the endless supply of suckers they take advantage of. I did a little research after my bad experience and found a cleaning kit specifically designed for Mitsubishi units that costs a whopping $34.00. It is available on Amazon and also at your local Home Depot. The directions for use are pretty simple and it is probably exactly what Carjon does for $1100. There are also videos on Youtube to show you how to use the product step by step. It should not cost anymore than a couple of hundred dollars to hire a company like Carjon to perform a cleaning on an average Mitsubishi unit, especially if it is possible to do it yourself for $34.00. read more

I cannot give good feedback, since my experience with this company is not a good one. I made an appointment on June 19 , knowing that I would not have a technician at my house till July 7th, and in the mean time would run my upstairs unit to cool the whole house. I told the office staff that it might need a refrigerant charge, and the units have not had a charge in years. The tech came and serviced the unit for the first floor, he was paid and he left. I came home from work and the unit was on and there is no cold air coming from the unit, just 75 degree air. I did not call the office of "Carjon", since we were going away for the weekend, and I did not want to schedule another visit since it still wasn't operating properly. The office called me on July 11, and she kept insisting I schedule a maintenance visit. I explained to the office that it wasn't working and that I needed to talk to my husband to see what he wanted to do. The woman in the office stated that my units refrigerant was very expensive and would be unavailable in 2020, and that our units were old and we needed to replace them. REALLY??? At 10K a piece, and we have two units. My husband called "WESCO", they were at my home the next day. The tech fixed the unit and it did not need a refrigerant charge, but did need some maintenance, that was done while he was at my home. I would have been happy to have Carjon fix my York unit, but it didn't happen. read more

I have to agree with the previous reviewer. Carjon was top notch. I had 4 other companies compe out to give quotes for a replacement heating/AC system. Carjon was the most thorough and professional they took the time to properly size the system and give options that would best fit our home. There quote, although no the cheapest was the most detailed. They answered all my follow-up questions very thoroughly. After deciding to go with them they scheduled installation about a week later. The installation crew was very professional and the quality of their work showed. I am very satisfied with my new system, and was very impressed that Carjon followed up with the necessary rebate paperwork and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. They have defintely made me a loyal customer and would defintely recommend them to others. read more

Scheduled a visit by a Sales Rep for A/C replacement - took three weeks. Took time off work and met the Rep, Robert, at my home - said he'd have a proposal for me within a week. Three weeks later - no proposal. I made an inquiry, and was told it was placed in the wrong folder. My experience is, if you have this much trouble getting a Proposal, installation and service after the sale will follow a similar theme. read more

Despite more than a decade of customer loyalty on my part, my interaction with CarJon in the last week has caused me to cut ties with this company. I do not believe they are the same company I started doing business with. There was a marked lack of professionalism and callous air of disregard from this company. Despite installing my water heater which was warrantied by the manufacturer, I had to hound CarJon to replace it and THEY NEVER DID! After 10 years of working with Carjon for various home needs, I can no longer endorse them in any way. Avoid this company at all costs! Since we moved to Smithfield, we identified Carjon as a reputable local plumbing and HVAC company to rely on for standard home maintenance and service. They installed our central Air. They serviced our furnace multiple times. They have done other various plumbing and HVAC services in our home...one of which was replacing our Hot Water tank. They installed a Bradford White tank with a standard 6 year warranty in February 2012, on September 13, 2017 the tank's pilot light went out. I took the normal steps of inspection and trying to restart it, to no avail. I called Carjon. They sent a technician out who looked further into it and said "The tank is unfortunately going and needs replacing. We installed it in 2012, so it is still under warranty. You will have to pay for labor/installation, but the tank will be replaced at no additional cost. Unfortunately, I checked the schedule and we are not free to come back until next Wednesday (9/20); you shouldn't be out of hot water that long so I can give you the name and number of another plumber we subcontract out to who can honor the warranty and hopefully do it sooner." I thanked him and replied, "Excellent, if they cannot do it sooner, then I will call the office and have you guys come on Wednesday. You have always done great work for us and I would rather have you replace it with the same quality of service and expertise." I called the other plumber who stated they couldn't get there until the following Friday, so I called Carjon back on Friday morning....this is where things took a turn. Michelle and Carissa from Carjon emailed and called us multiple times with excuses and explanations that range from ridiculous to condescending. Eventually we agreed to the installation price, provided a credit card number and they were to install a new tank on Tuesday morning. On Monday evening they called and cancelled the service entirely stating they were concerned we would give them bad reviews. They refused service on an under warranty product they installed because we might not like their service and give a bad review. The logic fail in this is so strong it is ridiculous. Thanks for wasting our time and money carjon. We recently moved into a new home that has a newer HVAC system. We are uncertain about a few things with how our system is running. We asked carjon to come out to give us a list and quote to help troubleshoot some issues. (Obviously it coasts money for them to come out to take a look)The technician told my husband to rip out this relatively new system and for them put in a brand new one. I'm sorry, the system is NEW... why don't your technicians learn how to trouble shoot through the issues!! Disappointed to report, we are extremely dissatisfied with Carjon Air Conditioning & Heating. Confident we were contracting with an honest, qualified company, we chose Carjon to maintain our gas boiler/heating system. For the past two years, we purchased a Carjon residential maintenance agreement called the "Total Comfort Plan," at a cost of over $300.00/year. Upon the commencement of our second agreement year, a "preventative maintenance tune-up" was completed on our boiler on December 13, 2017. We were told, the flue sensor needed to be replaced at a cost of an additional $ 224.00. Fine, needs it, not covered, do it. At the same time, a boiler cleaning was recommended for an additional $ 790.00. We opted to hold-off until we further researched the cleaning and the cost. On December 21, 2017, the same tech replaced the sensor, and life resumed as normal until March 20, 2018 when we had no heat. Same technician came and determined we needed an outdoor temperature sensor, at an additional cost of $ 266.00. Not covered, okay, whatever. Need it, do it. Additionally, the tech found a puddle of water and noted, the boiler heat exchanger was leaking. Again, we were told it was due to the fact that our boiler needed cleaning. At this juncture, although we were advised by other vendors that the price for the cleaning was exorbitant, we were confident that Carjon would do a good and worry-free job. Hence, we authorized the cleaning. When the technician arrived to perform the cleaning, he found the heat exchanger/boiler had leaked again. One more time, the problem was attributed to a dirty boiler/exchanger, and he proceeded to clean it, as planned. However, upon completion of the work, the technician discovered a broken part on the heat exchanger, leaking the water, that previously went unnoticed. Unfortunate for us, the source of the leak negates the expensive cleaning because what was cleaned has to be entirely replaced. Carjon refused to take any responsibility for the oversight and insisted that we were 100% responsible for the fee to clean the boiler. Technicians are not responsible for misses, such as the one that occurred with our system/boiler. The work was performed, as contracted, and we must pay for it, in its entirety. No reconciliation/consideration. To protect our sanity and credit, we have paid the bill in full. So sorry Carjon, you have lost an excellent customer. read more

We used Carjon Heating and Cooling (Cumberland, RI) to fix a gas furnace in February, 2014. A previous contractor had told us that many expensive parts would have to be replaced and we might as well buy a new furnace. The Carjon technician spent a lot of time troubleshooting in a cold attic and found that the problem was a high temperature limit switch that had shorted out. Kudos to that technician. Prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. read more

After 10 years of running my AC system with no problems, I thought it wise to get a tune-up, and and check the system. I have changed AC air flow filters myself. I called Carjon, a local Smithfield company. After waiting 5 weeks, on May 20, 2014 a Carjon serviceman came out to do a tune-up. Following his checking on whatever is checked during a tune-up, he said refrigerant was a little low and added some. Invoice shows "system operating normally at this time". We get some hot weather about 2 weeks later, so we ran the AC. Not cooling. I called Carjon, who sends out a different serviceman. He now says there is a leak somewhere in the system, but they don't know where. In a conversation with the owner of Carjon, he confirms that the cost for a leak search is around $800. Since we have the name and model # of my AC system, I asked about what parts might be the issue, and if we could check on availability of the most likely things, like coils, etc. He said he would, but I did not hear back from him about that. During subsequent conversations with the owner, he seemed more leading in the direction of installation of a new AC system. I still was interested in trying to identify where a leak might be, and consider cost of repairs, but at the same time, I said we could get an estimate started on a new system, if needed. Lisa from Carjon was supposed to call twice to schedule this appointment, but no call back. Now I am headed into July and August with a broken AC system, with nothing addressed by Carjon. I have lived in Smithfield for 36 years, and have dealt with all local companies for house repairs, remodeling, maintenance contracts, and new installations. NEVER have I experienced this kind of careless customer service with such arrogance, as I have at Carjon. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" and if it does break call a company other than Carjon. read more

Stay away! Incompetent installers! Wish no stars are possible. First of all they did not do manual J calculations and install 80000 Btu furnace after I said that it looked to me that the old furnace was quite over sized for the size of my house! The new furnace cycles around 20+ times an hour- depending on the season- it means a waste of electricity to run a blower and discomfort because it is very over sized and my climate is mild. As it turns out my house furnace should be 36 000 BTU. In addition, they insisted that I need a humidifier at a cost of $500 Do not be so gullible as I was- just new to the area and a half a mile from the ocean- a year round humidity is my problem and gas furnace produces its own humidity as its burns gas - quite a lot!! I did not need humidifier after all and as a matter of fact had to install the whole house de-humidifier! Money out of my pocket and into CarJon's. They installed my high efficiency gas furnace - and used black steel pipe as a part of acidic condensate line leading to a pump!!! Guess what- the metal pipe corroded after a few years and pieces fell into my condensate pump and broke it- had to be replaced- still dealing with the remnants of metal pipe embedded into plastic condensate line coming out of furnace - could not disconnect the metal pipe tail -embedded into plastic connector - in order to replace it. P.S Wrote this originally in January. The owner promptly responded and tried to confirm that I was legit. I provided my information. The owner responded again confirming that he indeed found me being their customer. That was it! Never heard from him again. ( Just realized that my review was put on hold by Yelp as I have not confirmed my E- mail address- maybe this is the reason - it is easier for the company to ask new customers to write a good review to offset the unfavorable one- be aware- it is not over until you as a homeowner will realize that you have a problem,caused by the improper installation- even a few years later, so I hope that my honest review will serve as a public service announcement - stay away from Carjon. read more

In Dec'16 Carjon installed central air on time, on budget. Very courteous, efficient and knowledgeable crew : 5 stars. So when I had a heating issue with my gas boiler in 3/17, they were the first company I called. Experience was 1 star at best. First, I told them the boiler was messaging a faulty stack sensor and just assumed they would bring the part. They didn't and need to return ($). They costed the part and replacement at $425. They refused to break down part and labor insisting it's a fixed price. After a few calls I purchased the part locally for $38 and then called another licensed service company to install - it literally took the technician 30 seconds. ( The sensor is readily accessible on the outside and no need to even open the cabinet ( no tool needed). I then used the technician's time to clean the heat exchanger and due a tune up which Carjon said needed to be done which they priced at $560. It would have cost almost $1000 to use Carjon - I ended up paying about $275. //. My experience - it was like dealing with two different companies.
