Excellent care in every area. MRI, Cat scan, Echo Cardiology. Lab, and immediate care when I turned the call light on. The food was great, loved the everything omele. Thank you for the caring support crew. Three very tough days then two coming back. Great care by all. Special thanks to Cardiology, Lab, Neurology and Infectious Disease. I has Sepsis, a stroke, but quick work by my care team, and care from great professional Nurses, and I'm still recovering but its tough to think of the outcome had we not came to Newton Wellesley Hospital. * ER was less then desirable. my wife took care of me. from getting a room to release 5 STARS!

I spent seven hours in Newton-Wellesley Hospital's emergency room last week after an accident that…read moreleft me with a dislocated bone fracture. Although my injury was not life-threatening, the pain was excruciating. I waited six hours before receiving pain medication. I understand and fully support treating the most serious cases first. What troubled me was the lack of compassion I experienced while waiting. I felt little acknowledgment of my pain or reassurance that help was coming. The staff may have been overworked, but patients still need to feel that their suffering matters. As the hours passed by in the waiting room, my pain increased markedly. I pleaded for pain relief--even just Tylenol. A nurse responded, "Can't you see this is an emergency room?! People are sick and nearly dying here!" Obviously I had not seen anyone that night who appeared very sick, much less nearly dying. They would have arrived by ambulance and were not visible to me. When I asked sheepishly about that, she barked, "I can't reveal anything about other patients!" Her tone was shaming, dismissive. and cruel. I understood and supported that others needed priority. I was asking for relief from unbearable pain which, by law, all patients are entitled to. Once treatment began later, the medication helped enormously, and the team realigned the dislocated bone. I appreciated the physical medical treatment. But I did not appreciate the public shaming and the general coldness from the entire staff. I will never go to that hospital again. Feeling cared for is a significant part of healing. An emergency room may not be able to eliminate the wait, but patients still deserve compassion, communication, and attention to their pain. That part of my experience at Newton-Wellesley fell far short.

Primary Care Docs.... God bless'em! Such a thankless job, so hard to do it well!…read more These guys do. I've been going since high school (that'd be around 10 years now, holy crap!). It started out as a small office with 3 providers, and has grown into a large practice with 3 office locations, 9 docs, 2 PAs. Some of the older docs, like Dr. Legare, no longer accept new patients. But all of them have top CV's, and are absolutely excellent. They practice correctly (that's important to me), are very approachable as physicians, take meticulous care to get your results back to you - with a personal note of reassurance always. If you happen to have a health issue, efforts are always made to provide care as fast as possible: I had initial appointment, ultrasound, surgical consultation and follow up appointment all in one week. Because of their association with NW Hospital, you have access to top services right away. My only problem with them is, now that they're this giant practice, it's become very hard to get an appointment on short notice, whereas before I used basically be able to call the same day. On the other hand, if you tell the receptionist to have the doctor call you, they alwasy do, and they can squeeze you in if you really need. If you live in the Newton/Wellesley/Needham/Weston area, I recommend them. Oh - for those of us with concerns re: healthcare system, I have NEVER been erroneously charged for anything :)

But literally 3 weeks later I wind up with a new, different doctor. Why can't this practice retain its doctors??? Avoid. At all costs. Zero stars.

The doctor's are good (although I second the earlier review that mentioned long wait times - not sure if it's just Dr. Perna or the whole office). That's not why they lost points for me, though. I put in an appointment request... and gave up and called a week later to book it (and of course they're booking over a month out for annual exams). At the same time I was on the phone, I put in a refill request... and we're now several days and four phone calls later (from me to them, they always take my number and never return the call) and I still don't have a refilled prescription (and it's now after 5pm on Friday, lucky lucky me). Not sure if they've had some staff changes, or shorthanded due to vacations, or just my luck, but this isn't the responsiveness I've seen in the past (and raved about to friends). :(

You will then have to kick your heels for another 30-45 mins before the doctor shows up * She struggles to use whatever software it is they use * She is always in a hurry How could someone not have the time for a patient, and yet be perpetually late?
