I believe they may be still understaffed in terms of drivers, since I have had some issues getting the times I need for trips. Luckily, it hasn't happened that often, but it is an issue when I'm trying to get to a single day event. That being said, the drivers are excellent. They take great care checking and double checking that you are secure in your travel. They also check on riders while on the road to ensure they're getting a smooth ride. They do offer exceptional care for their riders. Overall, I'm much happier with the service I'm getting.

My first contact with Arden was on a Sunday evening in August of 2014. I was desperate to find a care facility for my mother, a victim of the ravages of Dementia. At the time, she was in another facility which failed repeatedly to meet her needs. My husband was scheduled for surgery in four days in Virginia, and I was stressed and pressured to find a solution for my mother so I could be with my husband. So on that particular Sunday, I looked at 6 different facilities. I was sad and defeated. My day was a bust. I decided to drive by Arden, just to get a look. If it was like the other facilities, I would save myself the trip to Monroeville on Monday when I would continue my search. The building and grounds were impressive. It was 6 pm and I knew it was too late in the day to ask anyone to meet with me. I rang the front bell to ask if there was any written information I could have to review that evening. I was greeted and welcomed in by the Supervisor on duty. In the time I was there, I knew this place was like no other I had seen. I was immediately impressed with the facility and the staff I interacted with. I was excited to learn more and to find out if this could be a match for my mother's needs. When I called Monday morning, the staff person I needed to talk to already knew about my visit and was eager to dialogue about my mother's need for care. I was offered a time that afternoon to bring my mother in to see the facility and to talk more. I met the administrative staff and some of the clinical staff, each one being as cordial and professional as the next. Everything lined up so quickly and easily, I had to pinch myself. Accommodations were made for my mother to be admitted that Wednesday morning at 10 AM. By 2 pm I was traveling to Virginia to be with my husband. This is when it gets difficult. How can I come close to describing the grace and peace found here? I can't. I'm not that good of a writer. I will tell you it is now 14 months later and I am even more grateful for this place. I would like to acknowledge the staff I have observed whom are worthy of some spotlight. But truth be told, there are too many. And there are those whom I haven't seen work their magic, but I know they are there. From the top to the bottom and the bottom to the top, the staff is nothing like I have ever seen before. The last words my father spoke before he died in March of 2014, was to take good care of my mother. Thank you to everyone at Arden Courts of Monroeville for helping to make it possible to honor his dying request.
