Due to declining health of a relative, I have had more interaction with the staff and found them to be responsive, caring, empathetic, friendly. Sometimes the cleaning staff does unwittingly throw away esoteric, specialty food given by friends & relatives to my resident relative since the staff is not sure of its shelf lIfe, but the complaint by my relative's earlier claims of missing personal items possibly by staff members now seem to be unsubstantiated. Overall, Spring presently is a desirable assisted living home. The residents are from middle class backgrounds so there is an air of civility and dignity. The facilities are clean with a comfortable "living room" for residents to gather for directed activities & occasional entertainment. My past review and others' reviews were not as complimentary, but under Linda Hiles and the amenable staff, I feel Spring would be good to look into for an assisted living situation. There are 4 floors and are arranged by residents' needs and cognitive level. My mom seems very content to be amongst her peers, chit chatting, doing activities, going on outings and dining together. I'm so grateful for Silverado and all the staff. It has turned out to be the perfect place for my mom. She is safe, engaged, fits right in amongst her peers and has the support of staff who understand what she is going through. I'm actually not sure what we would have done had it not been for Silverado, and being right here, so close to home.

Both are in their 90's and, as you can imagine, moves like these aren't easy. After many years of preparing for the day they would require assisted living, I chose The Kensington. I did a few years' worth of research and ultimately it was very clear to me that The Kensington has no real competition. Moving in couldn't have been easier and the staff went out of their way to be incredibly helpful. Once in, the real test was whether The Kensington was all it had been hyped up to be. This is where I get a little choked up. Robert May's staff at The Kensington might be the finest group of people I have ever met. In the few months that my mother and father have lived there, I've met dozens of staffers and every one of them are filled with an energy that is equal parts love, compassion, hardworking, and authenticity. It's very clear that the training provided to the Kensington staff is top shelf and you find it in everything they do. I would love to share the names of the individuals who have had such a positive impact on my parents' happiness, but there are too many to mention here. The Kensington has roughly 120 residents with a staff of more than 180. That should tell you a lot about the attention the residents receive from the staff. In my opinion, the staff is everything. In addition to those who provide the day to day caretaking of the Kensington residents, there are staff nurses who do blood work, x-rays, and administer meds. Additionally, optometry and podiatry services are included, with insurance and/or Medicare often covering the cost. There is a beauty salon for hair and nails, a movie room with a new film each day, a TV/Library gathering room with large screen TV and incredibly well-curated live entertainment at 4:00 p.m. each day before dinner. The grounds at the Kensington are more than well-manicured and nicely appointed. The entire compound is spotless and there is always someone attending to something to keep it that way. The art on the wall celebrates The South Bay and the garden area is equal parts Huntington Library and Beverly Hills Hotel. When you mention The Kensington to people who are familiar with the home, you get a positive response every time. When discussing assisted living, the cost is commonly brought up as an obstacle. I did the math, I crunched the numbers and I read the reviews. I spoke to many people whose parents have transitioned to other local assisted living homes and I took copious notes. In the end, I found The Kensington to be very fairly priced, especially for what is provided. In all fairness, it is probably less expensive in consideration of all of the amenities. I can't help but mention again how fantastic the Kensington staff is. When you entrust the care of your elderly parents to someone else, it creates a lot of anxiety and second guessing. Realistically, who would treat your parents as well as you think they deserve to be treated. I can attest that The Kensington treats my parents like gold and the positive impact this has had on my parents and me is overwhelming. I would like to thank Robert May for putting together a team that has created such a wonderful place for my parents to live and call their "home". None of the staff was attentively going to the patients when they'd request for them. The patients were allllll in wheelchairs, not one patient was walking or moving around. It smelled terrible in there and the lighting was so poor. It looked so run down. On my way to Earl wood, I kept praying that this would be everything I was looking for in a facility for my dad and that it would be completely different from the last place I had visited. Thank God I came in person and didn't go based off the reviews online. The staff was amazing from the start. Christina was sooo kind to show me around the facility and a quick run down of how things work here. The staff was very friendly and kind to have us there, the patients were all so nice and active. Some in wheelchairs, others walking, others just hanging out. There was a sense of effort from healthcare administrators and life in this facility. The lighting in the facility was definitely brighter than the last but the first thing I noticed was the patio and outside area. It was so nice and peaceful looking that I instantly knew my dad would love something like that. When I decided this would be a great fit, I felt so confident and great that this would be the best choice to have my dad come to. I called my family and let them know that he would be accepting the offer for this location and he got transferred within the next couple of days. Ever since arriving here, the staff has been nothing less than GREAT. They are so attentive to my dad's needs, they are beyond amazing at communicating when any changes or questions arise, they are quick to explain and comfort any concern we have. They even had a luau the first weekend of being here! So so fun and cute, I loved it. My dad thoroughly enjoys it here and says it's sooo much better than what he imagined it to be. The ambience and the energy has been nothing to what I expected it to be like and the reviews online were definitely outdated so I felt leaving a new review would freshen up the info and rating on this facility because at first glance of solely reviews, it leaves hesitation. With only 6 hours till mom was coming home, Cari told me all the supplies needed, where to go get them including the bedding that hospice failed to tell me we needed! She was invaluable to me and because of her we had caregivers for mom at the last minute!!!! Mom came home to soft bedding so she could be comfortable and she was so happy!!!! The supplies that were included with hospice arrived after mom passed so I donated them to Moms Home Care and finally got to meet Cari in person and give her so many hugs!!! Thank you again Cari!!!
