They were one of about ten places I called and they ended up making the most sense for us. We drove our U-Haul on a Saturday and Sunday, and our son started school here the following morning. And for just over a year, everyone was really happy with the arrangement. Our son loved it, it was close by for us and his teachers really seemed to enjoy him. I don't want to understate any of those aspects: we were all as happy as we could be. The reason we're no longer at FCKA is actually another reason that we are grateful for the staff here. Our son has had some developmental issues and ultimately, they felt he would be better served at a different school that specialized in providing the type of attention he needs. This was a pretty self-less thing to say because it ultimately costs the school money to lose a student, plus a student that was loved by so many teachers, despite his difficulties. The only issue we really had with this entire situation is that it was a bit abrupt. We know our son is a handful. And often times, I would vent to the staff at pick-up or drop-off about how crazy he was the day before. But the reaction was always the same: laughter and something along the lines of "oh, that's the same guy we see here haha." So our impression was that they did not have any serious problems with him. This was the feedback from every person my wife and I ever dealt with. But then one day, we were told that it was actually a very serious issue, which we were taken aback by. I think what really sparked this is that they never re-opened the doors to allow parents to drop off or pick up kids from the room. We always had to wait outside, which generally led to less face-time with the teacher. Occasionally you would get a moment at the front door, but there was almost always a line of cars waiting, so those moments were always rushed. I understand it was probably logistically easier this way, but it was probably the one thing I would have changed about FCKA. We truly really enjoyed everything else about sending our son here and will always think of them fondly when we drive by.

My child began picking up negative behaviors that were not present before, and we even experienced a setback in potty training -- something that had already been successfully established. Watching your child move backward emotionally and developmentally is incredibly upsetting, and no parent should have to question whether an environment is contributing to that. When I brought concerns forward, I did not feel met with empathy or partnership. Communication from leadership felt dismissive and defensive, as though policies mattered more than the well-being of the children. I often left feeling unheard and uneasy rather than reassured. Childcare should feel like a trusted extension of your home -- a place where children are supported, guided, and cared for with patience and understanding. Instead, this experience felt cold and impersonal, and it took an emotional toll on our family. I carried constant anxiety, wondering what my child was being exposed to and how it was affecting them. He moved to the next room after he turned three and it quickly went downhill. He spent numerous days in "the office" without any notification for me until I got there to pick him up. I would have appreciated some sort of communication that he had been spending hours in the office, which was a glass room with a dining room table. My son had just turned three, one day I came to pick him up and the "owner "said he refused to put his shoes on and told him he couldn't go back to his class until he put them on by himself. He's three, and it was literally the first day he had ever worn shoes with laces. He had no idea how to untie them, they were in double knots. Another day I went to pick him up and he had been in the office three or four times that day for random things, and the "owner " told me he was harassing other students. I was never called nor notified of this behavior. Just walked in to my 3 year old son in "The office" for idk how long. One day I went to pick him up, and they told me he wasn't welcome back. Again never called or notified until I walked in the door. The "owner " also complained in a letter to all parents that children shouldn't be getting out of their cars after eating food on the way to school, that they could make it from the house to school without eating. And that many of the parents cars look like bombs went off inside them. I don't know how this man is over a school, but it was a terrible experience. This may not be the experience of everyone however it was my experience and I would not recommend this school.

Her reason was he did not meet the maturity and developmental requirements to move up. There were inconsistencies at home and I expressed to his then current teacher, new teacher, and the director that I did not think he would handle the transition well at that time. They moved him anyway and he started showing signs of physical aggression which he never had before. I understand the need to protect teachers and other students, but this was poorly addressed. About 10 days into the new class we had a meeting with the new teacher and the owner stating we would need to pick him up early when he was having behaviors and have consequences once taken home. Later that day we were called to pick him up early. The following day they allowed him to stay a full day even though he was having behaviors and at pickup we were told he was not welcome to come back to the school. We were given 1 day, one early pickup to put into practice their action plan. The school did not take into consideration the parents concerns. They thought they knew better.

I was told that my son was being "targeted." That alone should alarm anyone considering this place. The issues start with management. Multiple teachers told me that the director gossips about staff, creates a toxic environment, and spoke poorly about me to other employees--also warning them to treat my child differently because we monitored the cameras. That is unacceptable behavior from someone in charge of children. There is also clear favoritism. Certain staff members are allowed to operate without accountability, while others--and certain children--are treated very differently. I personally witnessed a teacher aggressively handling my child during nap time on camera. Although that teacher was fired, the facility refused to provide the video footage when requested, especially after I made it clear I was considering going to the police. That refusal is extremely suspicious. Staffing is another major issue. I was told directly by teachers that they are overworked, unsupported, and often left in ratios close to one teacher for 14+ children, with "float" staff who do little to help. That alone creates an unsafe environment. One teacher, referred to as "T," already has a negative Yelp review--and my experience matched it. She took my child out of camera view without my knowledge, and when I raised concerns, they were dismissed. Later, she told me directly that she "will be taking my child to get water if she wants" and made it clear she did not care about my boundaries, even stating she "knows my child better than other teachers." I had never even had a proper conversation with her. At the same time, I was dealing with behavioral concerns with my 2-year-old, which we are actively addressing with professionals. I was told an additional teacher would be assigned to support him--that never happened. The plan was ignored, another incident occurred, and I was called to pick him up early, only to be told they were "short staffed." I was also informed that other children displaying the same behavior were not handled or documented the same way, particularly one child connected to a staff member. That is blatant inconsistency and favoritism. Meanwhile, the director told staff members I was "dramatic" and that I was "freaking out over nothing," despite raising concerns about my child being physically mishandled, left in a soiled diaper long enough to cause severe rash, and forcibly grabbed by his shirt to sit down. These are not minor concerns--they are serious. I made repeated efforts to work with this facility, but it became clear that addressing the issues was not the priority. Since leaving this facility, my child has shown significant improvement and has been in much better spirits, which leads me to believe this specific daycare environment was negatively affecting his emotional well-being. I am relieved to be done with this place, but I am deeply concerned for any child still in their care. Please think carefully before trusting this facility with your child.
