Since I was organizing, she did a quick simple design for me, but it was gorgeous work.

Anyway, here it is: Erica was everything we could have hoped for in a wedding officiant. From the get-go she was warm and inviting (and prompt!), and she wholeheartedly encouraged me and my wife to make our wedding our own, listening to our love story and adding details from it to her part of the ceremony. She provided an exhaustive list of vows to choose from and personalize, and was open to us writing our own if that's what we wanted. Anytime we interacted, she radiated with positive energy and encouragement of my wife's individuality as a bride (she wore a red dress...), as if our wedding were the most special thing on earth, and important. She checked in regularly as the date approached, which made us feel like we could count on her. Plus, she knows her stuff (e.g., "Hey, don't forget to get a marriage license within X number of days of the wedding, look at each other--not me--when you're saying your vows, etc etc). She's just a lovely, kickass person, and I hope we stay in touch.

I am incredibly shy but I found it so easy to open up to Erica and she was mindful of this with regards to ceremony planning as well. Our ceremony was personal, meaningful, short, and everything we could have asked for plus somethings we would have never even thought to ask for! My husband and I both come from families deeply rooted in the Catholic faith. We were nervous about how our famillies would feel about our non-religious wedding but everyone was both touched and impressed by how it turned out. I will be forever grateful to Erica for playing such an integral role in our special day.

The space feels intentional without being overly curated, and there's a genuine sense of passion for jewelry that comes through in the experience. Ana, the owner, was wonderful to work with. She's incredibly knowledgeable about the jewelry and clearly takes a lot of pride in what she's created. What stood out to me most was how intentional she was throughout the process. She took the time to explain the pieces, answer questions, and make the experience feel personal rather than transactional. I ended up purchasing an extra charm and a ring, and I love both. There's something especially nice about leaving with pieces you actually chose for yourself rather than feeling like you're just picking something off a display. I also really enjoyed hearing a little about Ana's journey. She's Chicago-born and went to medical school before realizing that jewelry was what genuinely excited her and what she wanted to wake up and do every day. That passion is evident in the way she runs the space and interacts with customers. Charm Bar feels like more than just a place to buy jewelry. There's thought, personality, and genuine enthusiasm behind it, and that makes the experience memorable. As a Chicago business, it's exactly the kind of place I enjoy discovering and supporting.

We scheduled beforehand online and it was easy to book a table. We each picked 4 charms and made a bracelet. They told us we got a free engraving for our bdays but the engraving machine wasn't working so we didn't. She did say we could bring them back though! I thought the rings were a little tricky to get in but we got the hang of it! Nice selection of charms and they're super cute. I got a person, a coffee cup, a lemon, and a little heart! My sister's was super cute too. The girl working was nice and helpful! It was expensive, which we expected, but it was a one time thing! Overall a fun activity but I think next time I'd just get stuff and do it on my own at home!

Sometimes the vendors you end up choosing end up moving businesses and that's exactly what happened with Kehoe. We met with 4 different decor companies for my son's recent bar mitzvah and opted to go with Kehoe because we absolutely loved Mal- her energy, her warmth and (most of all) her fresh ideas. She was lovely and easy to work with throughout the entire process so I was bummed to learn a month before our big event that she she had moved companies. However, my planner assured me that we were in very good hands because Tom Kehoe was taking over our event and that most of our event was already in production. I guess this is the benefit of going with a large company like Kehoe. I do think things were a little more chaotic in the few weeks leading up to the bar mitzvah as Tom and his team (we mostly worked with Sydney) got up to speed. We had to redirect with some proofs at the last minute, but the finished product was more amazing than I even expected. The tennis decor they designed was youthful, classy and absolutely breathtaking. Even big sister (my 15 year old daughter) who is tough to impress walked in and said "WOW- this is actually really cool." And while there were many amazing wow moments from the night the #1 comment I received over and over and over again was that decor was unbelievable. It was definitely pricey and tough to swallow spending what we spent on what's essentially a 13 year olds birthday party, but I gave the same budget to 3 other well known decor companies and the budget went further with Kehoe than any of the others. And I thought their ideas were also more innovative and appropriate for a 13 year old boy. Overall, I couldn't have been more pleased. I'm bummed that Mal herself moved on, but would definitely consider using Kehoe again providing there is another designer who is a creative and fun to work with.

Black Oak, their lighting partner, also did a phenomenal job. The lighting perfectly highlighted the aisle and our centerpieces, and it truly made a world of difference. With Kehoe Designs, you absolutely get what you pay for. The attention to detail, quality, and sheer professionalism are unmatched. She even went above and beyond to provide me extra pictures that were sent to my phone because it was difficult to capture everything they have in the showroom. The showroom was gorgeous and nicely presented. I saw what I wanted right away and Angie was very helpful in helping me set up my vision. The photo was taken at our friends' wedding reception at the Art Institute of Chicago. Snapbooth had their photo booth set up next to the Chicago Stock Exchange Trading Room, inside the museum. There was a printer so we could get a hard copy and we were able to download two high-resolution versions of the photo -- with and without the event name and date border. We've taken tons of photo booth pics over the years, but none as good as Snapbooth's. I didn't think a photo booth could generate such excellent quality.
