With storm warnings on the radio, Gayle, my son, and I headed out of the Twin Cities and back to Ames. Around Owatanna, I decided that it was a good idea to get some coffee and provide for a car-wide bio break. That turned out to be a good decision, as farther down the road, the slipping and sliding through the freezing rain began. And only later when we walked into my very worried parent's house, did we hear that I-35 in Northern Iowa closed just behind us. This Caribou Coffee was a real hoot! It's on the way to Cabela's off the Interstate and provided a warm and comfortable space. The counter person also had the thickest "Fargo" accent that I had heard yet on this trip and was friendly, chatty, and fun to listen to as she carried on about "this and that". I love Caribou Coffee! As a California girl I am stuck with seeing a Starbucks on every corner where you get the same sort of coffee with the sass of the baristas. But you most certainly get quite the difference of customer service here at Caribou Coffee. The employees are friendly and always find a way to make your experience the best. You also gotta enjoy the fun trivia question that will get you 10cents off your beverage! Let me start off by giving A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Olivia and Izzy !! My husband and I picked up our order and I can't say enough about their hustle and wonderful attitudes! They were busy but kept a positive attitude and were so friendly to us. The drive thru was busy so we walked in to order. I just wanted to take the time and let you know these gals represented Caribou coffee to the max! We'll be back thru next summer! During the time my lady friend and I spent vacationing in Minnesota. We kept hearing about Caribou Coffee. So during our drive home we decided to stop here to find out for ourselves. It has the feel and look of a Starbucks. Their coffee isn't quite up to that high quality level. But they are close. Very much worth five stars in my opinion. The Campfire Mocha was excellent! Coffee is great. But the past two times I've ordered the egg white sandwich it was warm on the edges but cold/frozen in the center. :-(

I should preface this review by saying that I'm no fan of Caribou Coffee. I drink my coffee black and because of that my appreciation has more to do with the bean as opposed to the syrups, chocolates, candy pieces, or whip cream toppings. The coffee here just wasn't to my liking, it didn't taste fresh. It could have just been this Caribou so this review should not be misconstrued as a general statement towards the chain. ironically their bagged coffee is o.k. so it could have just been a bad batch. Despite my dissatisfaction with the coffee, their pastries were pretty good and helped to sop up some of the less than pleasant aftertastes of the coffee. read more

Visiting Minnesota for the first time since a child I was told I needed to go to Caribou. So I had some work to do as well as had to pick up some family from the airport so I quickly found this location by the airport. The baristas were very helpful, Carlos in particular, he helped me figure out a good drink to try and customized it to my liking. Great atmosphere inside, good workers help that, very busy for the whole time I was there. Drink was good and had a good experience overall. Will come back again here sometime before the end of my trip if not multiple times. read more

Nice cozy atmosphere and friendly help. If you have been to a Caribou then you'll have a fairly good indication of what to expect. This location offered a children entertainment area, lounging area fitted with a fireplace and a large blackboard open to public graffiti. Stay away! Went in this morning for a hot tea and a breakfast sandwich. Entered the front door and found mayhem. Should have turned around and walked away but gave the staff the benefit of the doubt. What a mistake! They were sold out of my breakfast sandwich of choice and told me what they had. My hot tea order went in the cue for the Barista to make instead of just throwing the tea bag into a cup of hot water. It took 12-15 minutes for them to prepare a cup of hot tea. After waiting 20 minutes I asked the Barista the status of my sandwich. She ordered someone to throw it the oven. After two more sandwiches came out, I approached again only to find it still hadn't been put in. Nearly 25 minutes later and still no breakfast sandwich, so I asked for a refund. Only one staff person was authorized to refund my money - the Barista. She wouldn't leave her coffee bar to give me a refund despite having had me wait 25 minutes so finally had to walk out of the store. Others ordered coffee and found no cream, no splenda, no napkins on the coffee condiment bar. Complete disorganization behind the counter and no concern for customers. I didn't even get an apology. I'll never return. Better keep moving up the road before you stop here. read more
