The care was inconsistent with many missed/ rescheduled appointments. When the staff person did arrive, the service was adequate, but often rushed. Most egregious was 1 nurse, in collaboration with his wife, talking him into refusing all additional cancer treatment, although his death was not imminent, claiming that hospice would merely provide additional help for his caretaker. This was rescinded when we (his health care proxies) became aware of this death warrant and explained this to him. The nurse was banned from providing any additional treatment to him. My son continued to receive chemotherapy and lived an additional 8 months, primarily in our home, as recommended by his DFCI treatment team, and fortunately had no pain. He passed away 4 weeks ago in his sleep. We are devastated and still in shock. Neither this agency nor any one individual from this agency has reached out to us to offer condolences. The lack of sympathy is most disheartening.
