My mother was here for six weeks for rehab after a fall and I…read moreliterally cried when she was brought in because the place was such a dump; it smelled bad, there was a person yelling HELP ME HELP ME incessantly, staff wouldn't make eye contact. She was ignored for at least an hour after she was transported. She came in in the late afternoon so was treated to the night shift staff who, to quote my mother, "all hate their jobs." Call lights are a joke- no one answers. The room was dirty; the facility is dirty in general. The housekeeping is absolutely the worst. Surfaces are sticky, towels are rarely replaced, the paper towel holders were empty, trash is rarely emptied. The first things I did every day when I came to visit were empty the trash, make the bed and tidy the bathroom. I have nothing good to say about housekeeping; they weren't even nice people. The good things are the therapists and some (SOME) of the med staff. The therapists are contractors so don't really reflect on the facility, though. Some of the CNAs were good. Some of the nurses were good. Shout out to Uvonne and Dylan, CNAs. Food was good, according to my mother. I would definitely turn this place down if referred again.

After my mother had been there for a week she said get me out of here! We don't know what transpired but we can only imagine That her care was not satisfactory. A couple decades later I noticed that they switched their name to ignite medical resort. I think it's very flashy name but just corondelet this place is horrendous. A lot of these rehabilitation homes All suffer from the same issue. It's a we versus they mentality. In other words, the nurses and aides against you. Unfortunately I got really so much to the point I need to learn to walk, and speak again. I decided ignite would be the place to go since they had dialysis services there. In the first week my beard trimmer ended up missing. Nobody claims to know what happens. Problem is these nurses will steal from you. These aides will take from you. It's horrible to say that about a place but that's not the only thing that was taken from me. I had a brand new pillow that I just purchased off of Amazon that oddly disappeared. Nobody knows anything about it. The care here is sub par at best. I was clearly in the wrong place. My needs were beyond their abilities. Anyways long story short by the after two weeks of their care I had to be rushed to er. I was supposed to be on a renal diet. The food they served was loaded with salt. I started gaining water weight. I had so much water in my legs they were three times their size. They felt like they were going to burst! I had been telling the nurses I did not feel well for about a week, and I voiced my concerns which fell on deaf ears. After the nurse collected a blood. Few hours later she rushed into the room and said you got to go to the hospital. Right now your blood melt's too low. As I was in ER my kidney doctor saw me and told me I need to go to dialysis right away. I went to dialysis. They took 7 l of liquid off me the first time which is really unheard of. Usually the maximum they can take off is four and a half but they took off about 20 l in 3 days. The kidney technician told me that had I gotten to the hospital an hour later I would be dead. I would have drowned it in my own liquids. I'm in preparation for suing the negligence of that establishment. I do not recommend it. I'd rather not even give it a star, but I don't think it will collect this rating if I don't. There's many other tragic things that happened but that is just the gist of it. The only real plus of this place is their physical therapy department. It's state of the art and the people are very nice and friendly. Everything else is horrible.

The nursing staff is very inattentive and her calls very rarely get answered. They leave her sitting in the chair for hours on end and do not check on her. I do not recommend this place at all for a loved one's recovery. I just got back from helping her go to bed for the evening and found out she had wet herself three times because she couldn't get anyone to come help her. I demanded to talk to the head of nursing to get the situation resolved and was told they would get back to me after the weekend was over. Not acceptable. No concern for the patients and no caring for them at all. This place should be avoided at all costs.

My mother was at Brookdale Skilled Nursing Overland Park for approx 1 week and was discharged to…read moreher home on Hospice. During her stay, nursing and therapy was overall attentive to her needs as was the facility physician. She frequently had to wait for greater than 30 minutes for someone to respond to her call light. Our biggest frustration was during her last day of her stay. When I arrived in the afternoon to pick her up, I found her in her bed without her hearing aids, her call light activated, and an empty water pitcher on her table. She was totally parched, barely able to speak. Her call light was finally answered 45 minutes after I arrived. After my mom's discharge, I called to talk to senior management. I talked to the facility CEO who promised to talk to staff and get back to me. What has added to my frustration was that after repeated call backs by me, she has yet to have followed up with me.

The care she received was very good - first many staff assessed her level of need. Then they built a plan to support, challenge, and strengthen her. They were positive, professional, and kind. I work in healthcare as a psychologist and was impressed. I suppose that if I could, I'd take off half a star for the food being a bit bland.
