This place nearly killed my dad. Avoid it like the plague. They had him for only two days before I raised hell to get him out.

We did a lot of research before finding this place for my 90 year old dad to recoup (rehab) after…read morehis sudden week-long hospital stay. We were mainly concerned about any possible Covid-19 cases, and were told there were NONE in this facility. Other reviews were decent, and it was supposedly a well-respected place. He had some serious issues, the first and foremost being that he had a Foley catheter put in when he entered the hospital. No one really knew why he needed to have the catheter, because there was no known cause for his sudden difficulty urinating. He has always had minor issues, but this was new. Supposedly there was no infection (we found out later there was). When we spoke to the admissions people at Troy Hills, we explained the catheter issue. They told us that they would do "voiding trials", where they take out the catheter, and then measure his ability to void. If there was still an issue, they would put it back in and try again later on. The doctors at St. Francis hospital (where he was during this time), also spoke with the people at Troy Hills regarding the voiding trials. They also told the doctor at St. Francis that is what they would do. The day they admitted him into Troy Hills, they decided they would NOT do the voiding trials. Instead, they ended up making an appointment (more than a week later, and then for the end of that week) for a urologist. They would not give a valid reason why they changed their treatment plan, and their mind about the trials. They did keep reminding us that he only had 20 days of full Medicare coverage before we had to start paying part of it. They did everything in their power to keep him PAST the 20 days, reminding us constantly that our share will be $176 a day after 20 days. In some phone conversations, they told us this 3-4 TIMES!!!! They were supposed to have a virtual "family meeting" each week. They are so unorganized, they didn't even give us call-in information for the first alleged meeting. Instead they called one of us, when they were supposed to be talking to the "family". I then had to TELL them to get my other two sisters on the call. This so-called weekly meeting only happened once, even though he was in there more than 3 weeks. The bottom line is that they do everything in their power to fill a bed, then they do nothing. They lie about their treatment plan, and instead try to milk every possible day they can from a patient. We were grateful to get him out of that lying hell-hole of a facility. Do not send your loved ones to this place. And to add insult to injury, they would send out a Covid update every day. This was an update with the total number of Covid cases in their facilities. They had the total patient cases listed as 45 patients tested positive, 10 patients died, and 36 patients recovering. This was the same number every day. (I saved the emails because I couldn't believe it.) Forgive me if I am ignorant as to the "new math", but did someone come back from the dead to recover? 45 positive, 10 dead, and 36 recovering??? Seriously? Sheesh. ***Update - 2 days after leaving this place, my dad was tested for a UTI and still has one. Troy Hills was supposedly giving my dad antibiotics for an infection, but the antibiotics were never handed over to his new place with his other meds when we moved him. Clearly they either never gave him antibiotics (they SAID they were, and I even handed them the PRESCRIPTION after the doctors visit), or they gave it to him for a day or two and then just stopped or forgot. At every turn, Troy Hills is proving they are incapable of even basic care - nevermind skilled nursing. It's a pathetic joke, and it's downright scary to think they may be "caring" for people who don't have any family to watch out for them. It is simply disgusting.

When my mother was first admitted, I was thinking what a great place this is. However, my opinion…read moreCHANGED DRAMATICALLY over the course of her stay (even though it was only for 6.5 days). - With the exception of two of the aides and one of the nurses, the level of care was unsatisfactory. If I hadn't been there from 9am to 8pm (or whenever they threw me out), my mom would have sat in a dirty diaper for hours and hours on end. Even after I requested that they change her, the usual response was "Okay, I will tell X to do it". Of course, "X" never came. Also, they were asked to shift my mom's position every few hours...that never happened either. There were many other simple requests such as "please put in mom's hearing aid and dentures in the morning" that were ignored most of the time. - The doctor didn't come to see my mother until her fifth day there - this is unacceptable. (Some kind of a Nurse Practioner saw her - but sorry, that's not a doctor.} The doctor never followed up with me, even after repeated requests. - Also, they did not not do bloodwork until her fourth day there and they had no plans to follow-up at some point with another set of bloodwork. They started giving my mom Procrit (for low hemoglobin), but they didn't follow-up to discuss it being given to her going forward. They also said that she might have pneumonia, but did nothing to confirm or treat it. Getting information from anyone was next to impossible. - The dietician never once came to see my mom or to speak with me (even though I left many, many messages both on the phone and with the staff). They were giving my mother food that she would NEVER eat - some of it due to religious beliefs. - The rooms (double occupancy) are small and dreary. They definitely need to to upgraded and brought up to modern standards. (They were kept relatively clean though.) - I've left numerous messages with administration, head of nursing, and others who are "in charge" at this facility. I'm still waiting to see if anyone gets back to me. Believe me, I will be contacting Genesis about this poorly run facility. - The ONLY bright of the stay was the caring and wonderful staff of the Rehabilitation Department and also the staff in the Social Services Department. They were all very knowledgeable, helpful, kind and dedicated. (They are the only reason that I'm not giving this place 0 stars.)

It's a hard decision to have to place love one somewhere but I have complete trust in them Rikka is the administrator who does an amazing job and they head of nursing is Miralise both are knowledgeable in their positions and willing to talk to family members at any time day or night which is what I have had to go through during my brother's recovery Not only is it a facility temporary but also permanent if need be my brother happens to be younger and there are younger people there which is good to know they have mini activities which are all supervised and most important the food is very good for a nursing home facility!! he has been in almost every other facility in New Jersey and this facility ranks the highest in my opinion!

She is disrespectful and a hypocritical person. My father was here and she told us to get out of the day room because we were having lunch and told us to go to the dinning room to eat. If I'm paying the bills to have my father to stay here he has every right to eat wherever he wants. I didn't want to mention this but I have witness multiple times of her screaming and being rude to her staff like crazy person . Also noticed her yelling at a resident because he wanted to sit next to the tv at a point where he was going to cry. She seems to like to belittle people. I don't want to imagine what happens behind doors. She sits in her office with a heavy set person and seems to be talking in a way I assume isn't the way to talk about other people which is not acceptable because My father at times likes to go to the day room and could be listening.
