My grandmother has been a resident here for several years, and in that time, we've faced consistent issues with the staff's attitude and treatment of our family. Visits have often felt unwelcome and uncomfortable, as the staff has repeatedly been rude and unaccommodating. They've even made my mother feel threatened by bringing up family disputes rather than focusing on my grandmother's care. Because of internal family tensions--my aunt holds guardianship and is not supportive of family visits--the nursing home has enforced her wishes to an extreme. We've been denied even the chance to celebrate my grandmother's 95th birthday in a common area. It's as if the home finds it easier to side with convenience rather than advocate for a 95-year-old resident's dignity. We've also witnessed serious neglect. My grandmother has been left lying on a mattress on the floor, undressed, for hours. When we've requested basic care like a diaper change, we've waited six, seven, even eight hours with no action, met only with eye-rolling and dismissive excuses. To make matters worse, the nursing home helped ban my cousin--my grandmother's own granddaughter--based on a false accusation simply because she advocated for better care. When my cousin tried to visit for my grandmother's birthday, she was humiliated by a face-scanner alarm that blocked her entry. This is the extent to which the home and my aunt have gone to keep family away, making my grandmother's life even more isolated and miserable. Lastly, be aware that this facility has changed its name multiple times to hide poor reviews and a troubled history. They're renovating the exterior to look more upscale and attract new clients, but the fundamental problems remain. The staff's lack of compassion and the poor quality of care are still the same. It's not about the building; it's about the people they employ, and that makes this place truly unacceptable for anyone's loved one. The 3rd floor are the gates of HELL. The nurses here are pure EVIL!! Very few really care or do a good job. The head nurse (Daniella?) is the Devil's ring leader! Horrible horrible human beings. Dad did not need a home that looked 'pretty or fancy'; for us it was about the quality of care he was going to receive. The Armenian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was a place most of us passed on a regular basis because it was on the way to Shop Rite. It was recommended to us by one of our in-law's families whose parent was a resident at the time and had so many nice things to say about it. When we visited, we were impressed by the staff and had a good feel for the facilities. It was important to us that Dad received one-on-one care and we were offered a private room on the sub-acute wing. We checked Dad into his room and within a week they had moved him closer to the nurse's station so they could keep a closer eye on him. Dad was 88 at the time and suffering from dementia and physical limitations. Fortunately, he still knew who we were but needed assistance walking and getting dressed. Before moving Dad into the Armenian Home, he had attempted a few escapes at home. The staff made sure he was always wearing a monitor so they would be alerted if he left his chair or bed at any time. Over the 4 1/2 years that Dad lived at the Armenian Home our family would visit regularly. There are six of his kids, plus spouses, as well as grandkids and friends that would stop in at any time of day to visit or help feed him. We were always greeted by the staff at the front desk with smiles and friendly banter and the aides were all very friendly and accommodating. If we wanted to feed Dad, they would make sure that we had everything we needed, especially apple sauce, his favorite. You see, later in Dad's stay, it became more difficult to feed him and maintain a healthy weight. Fortunately, the staff members were aware of all his favorite foods and knew just how to get Dad to eat when we couldn't.....they have their tricks!! We cannot say enough about the overall care that the nursing staff gave Dad throughout his stay. We were always notified promptly if there was ever a concern about his health. Everything from a head cold, to a fever, to a reddish color on his big toe. In the 4 1/2 years that Dad was a resident at the Armenian Home, he never had to be taken to the hospital. They were always able to care for him and keep his health in check. The nursing staff was always there in case we had any questions or concerns. When we decided to bring Hospice in to help manage Dad's pain from his lack of mobility, the nursing staff worked closely with them and was in constant contact with us if there were any changes in Dad's condition. Never once did we doubt the quality of service Dad was receiving. During the last week of Dad's life, many of us were coming and going, spending hours just congregating in his room. The staff allowed us to spend as much time with Dad as we wished; even permitting overnight stays when we felt the end was nearing. We recall a staff member from the kitchen stopping by and asking us if we needed anything to eat or drink. The entire staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We are so grateful to the Armenian Home and especially to the staff on Dad's floor for the care he received. From the aides to the nursing staff and all the doctors that monitored him, they all treated him with love and respect. We had total confidence and faith that Dad was in good hands, which gave us great comfort and peace of mind. We wish to thank everyone at The Armenian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for taking care of Dad with compassion and dignity when we couldn't anymore. Warmest regards, The McGovern Family

Dr. Odulaja is part of Dr. Abiola Familusi, AOH's Chief Medical Officer, team. AOH retains and allows an attending doctor with disciplinary actions in multiple states to treat patients (see screenshots). My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers over 12 years ago. On the word of a doctor with multiple license suspensions, AOH changed my mother's diagnosis from Alzheimers to Dementia with psychosis. AOH then stopped giving my mother her memory drugs cold turkey, no gradual decline. No one on AOH's medical team is a neurologist nor did they consult my mother's neurologist before making this dangerous change. My mother was also diagnosed with epilepsy and seizures despite not having a history of either of these illnesses. AOH also provided no support for either of these diagnoses. AOH put my mother in a room where she was pressed up against a hot, sharp-edged metal radiator. Despite multiple complaints, I was ignored by the COO until I called the Ombudsman's Office to alert them to my mother's great risk of injury. My mother could have been burned by the radiator or lost an eye, but AOH did not care until I called the Ombudsman's office. When I tried to move my mother to another facility in April, AOH falsified the PRI to state that my mother was the highest level of violent. This false PRI was given one day after the nursing manager told me that my mother was so calm that she no longer needed seroquel. Of course, the admission offer from the other facility was withdrawn. Although my mother was admitted to AOH as an in-network provider from my mother's managed long-term care plan as part of a safe discharge plan, AOH put pressure from Day 1 to sign my mother over to long-term care. I refused and they threatened to have my Power of Attorney revoked! In their zeal to coerce me with undue duress to force my mother into long-term care, AOH committed a HIPPA violation by sending me the medical details for another patient where they had themselves appointed Payee Representative so they could take the patient's social security check despite the patient having a wife and daughter. In an email between the two finance employees, the junior finance employee asks the more senior employee can they do this and the more senior employee tells her to go ahead and do it! A truly unbelievable exchange. It is elder abuse because it is financial exploitation. The private rooms may lull you into a false sense of security that this is a suitable place, but do not be fooled!! AOH will prey on your loved one! They are desperate to turn your loved one into a private ATM at the least possible cost to them.

My mother was in memory care on the 3rd floor and she didn't thrive under their care. The facility is understaffed, most residents aren't allowed in their rooms, and they're lined up in front of the TV in their wheel chairs between meals. The staff do not engage with the residents and seem neither compassionate nor empathetic. Her wheelchair smelled like urine and had sticky food on it, yet no one cleaned it. They might be overworked, but they do the bare minimum and nothing more. The cost is exorbitant--ranging from $12,000 to $15,000 per month--and be aware of additional fees if your loved one needs extra care, such as assistance with medications, feedings or lifts. I can't speak if other large facilities are the same, but please visit and do your homework. I would not recommend this place due to its understaffing, average care, and high costs.
