It is dated 2017, two years after we moved in. True, parking is tight but, I took care of that by giving up my car. In the case of necessary travel to doctors appointments there is free door to door service. In normal times we can go on bus trips as far as NYC to films, opera, concerts, etc for a nominal fee. I have never seen or smelled anything bad in the dining room. On the rare occasion when a resident had an accident it was promptly and expertly cleaned up. I have never smelled anything bad. As far as the lobby staff being snotty and condescending nothing could be further from the truth. On one day, when my wife and I moved, in everybody on the staff knew us by name. In fact, I think we are coddled too much sometimes. And tipping is not allowed. At first glance the prices to buy in and the monthly maintenance fees seem pricey, but considering the great number of services and amenities it is it is really pretty much of a bargain. And there is even a fund that guarantees that if you run out of money, thur no fault of your own, you will, not be kicked out. Management rates an A+ in its efforts to keep us health in this time of Covid19 A very important intangible point, that can only be experienced by living here, is the friendship of the other residents. We have an a incredible mix of academics and professionals who are not only very friendly people who are also a joy to talk to and live with. I have made more friends in my five years at RPP than I did in my 60 years in Lutherville. Moving to Roland Park Place was the best move I ever made. I am happy to stay here for the rest of my life

The staff bends over backwards to accommodate in every possible way! They are even not only making it possible to have our unit reconfigured, but they are actively working with the architectural and engineering staff to do the best they can to fulfill our requests. Roland Park Place's activities, programs and events are a dizzying array of intellectual, cultural, health-building, recreational and travel opportunities par excellence. Once an apartment is reserved, the future residents are welcome to take advantage of all activities, programs, and trips. Already, we feel like we are joining a very close-knit family. We recently attended a posh reception that RPP sponsored to introduce us to many other future residents. While many current residents have aged beautifully in place having, however, slowed down quite a bit, we met lots of future residents who are vibrant, colorful, bright, interesting very active folks, many of whom bonded very quickly, discovering that we had many, many things in common. I can NOT imagine another place in which I'd like to spend my remaining years!!! A-AND I can NOT wait to move in. If you have any interest at all in a vibrant, fully alive, stimulating, convivial and beautiful retirement community, I urge you to visit Roland Park Place. They are currently having many functions to which you could be invited to get an introduction to an amazing place to live.

Tried 2 other big corporate facilities in the area and Ma Maison was the only one that truly made us feel as though he was really part of a family. Smaller houses with less than a dozen residents each made our experience there during the end of his life memorable. I'm grateful for the care and personal attention my father received and recommend that you consider Ma Maison before shelling out the big bucks to a bigger (and IMHO less "personable") facility. Even my teenage son said that he felt the caregivers at MaMaison were nicer to his grandfather than at the other 2 facilities he lived at over the last 2 years!

My family can't say enough good things about Ma Maison. Mom previously resided in a small private…read moreroom in a large, high end facility with a good commons area and impressive dining facility. After about 9 months, she needed more help and that help was not there (even though she had been moved to the lowest level on the 3 Level care ladder). Yes, she had a pendant/call button but the response was VERY poor. She constantly complained and the family finally monitored the call response and the response time was often hours (no kidding). It was a good place as long as you could handle your own bathroom needs and could get out of bed and were generally able to navigate without help. Ma Maison is a small, home type facility with about 15 residents in each of 3 homes. Bedrooms are situated around a common area that is used for dining, TV viewing, recreation, etc. When not sleeping, Mom was almost always moved into that common area and not left alone in her room. The staff interacted very well with the residents. They have a similar problem with staff turnover that all of the other Assisted Living facilities have but the owner is a "hands on" person who knows his staff as well as the residents. I was a little surprised when I first walked into the place after being used to the more high end facility, but that quickly faded. It's clean and well run and you can't go wrong in placing your loved one there. Overall, I would say our experience was pushing a 5 on a 5 star rating.

Mom enjoyed living there. Mom's every need was addressed. The people who work there are the most warm, caring, & understanding people we have ever met. We never had to worry whether mom was being taken care of. We knew she was. There were many activities that kept mom busy & we were always included in everything that mom was involved in. We enjoyed meals with her regularly & when mom was no longer able to feed herself, there was always somebody helping her. Mom's time spent there was the best way a person could spend the final stage of their life - right up to the last day. Thank you for all that you have done. Terry B.

I remember when we first moved him in I thought the place was like a very nice hotel. They have beautiful common areas like an outdoor fountain and fireplace, a bar, several lounges and dinning areas, a movie theater, and game areas. They do happy hour for the residents where they can have beer or wine and hangout together chatting or singing. We've joined my grandfather for dinner a few times and it was always good, albeit with a lot of the expected soft textures. Snacks and refreshments are always available. They even have cookouts for some holidays and invite the families of residents. They encourage family involvement, my uncle is a certified volunteer and visits all the time and helps with programs. We often take my grandpa out and there's never been any hassle. They continue to provide excellent care for their residents.

In spite of the fact, that great deal of hours for the personal care (which my relative never got) already included into the price, they charge additionally for every move from their side. When I started looking deeper into the situation and asking questions, some members of the staff became extremely rude to me. Eventually, they started limiting my communication with my family member - for me not to be able to witness his mistreatment and advocate for him. So, it seems like a general Brightview facilities situation: building looks good - all the rest is just awful. That's how they make money on elder people, who can't protect themselves.

Early in 2015, Brightview White Marsh, along with four other facilities, were visited while looking…read morefor an assisted care facility for Mom. I was impressed with the appearance of Brightview White Marsh. The grounds were well cared for, the building was imposing and the staff members were friendly. The family made the decision to make this Moms new home. BAD DECISION. On the plus side, the food has been good and the common areas are maintained nicely. They planned to, and did, undertake major renovations throughout to this already attractive facility. We were lulled into our decision to go with Brightview by appearance only. If you or your loved ones are independent and require minimal assistance, this facility has real merits. They have a very nice dining room, large lounging area (I was impressed with the large fireplace, piano and comfy chairs), entertainment, activities, etc. However, if you require a higher degree of care, look elsewhere. Management oversight is virtually non-existent. Of the 9 senior staff members present when we entered the facility, only 4 remained when we left 18 months later (and some Director level positions had turned over more than once). Although the hallways and common areas were fresh and clean, the rooms of residents with incontinence issues always smelled strongly of urine and this was not only in our room. Complaints presented by various families, during the periodic evening meetings between the family and senior staff, went unaddressed. We frequently complained about the rough handling, lack of baths and lack of response to pendant calls. Mom frequently fell while transferring between bed & chair & wheelchair. She told the family that when she pushed the call button, no one showed up to help her. She is independent and we thought that she was being impatient. After being told that to resolve the falling problem we must hire a full time "sitter" for Mom that would cost in excess of $100,000/year ($25/hr. x 12 hrs./day x 365 days/yr.) plus expenses, we personally monitored the Brightview call response. We found that what Mom was telling us was true. There is no reason why it should take well in excess of 1 hour to respond to a pendant call or why a sufficient number of TRAINED RAs aren't available at all times to attend to the needs of residents or why it takes a minimum of 2 persons to transfer her while the rehab facility that she was in a month before finally leaving Brightview only required one person and that person didn't injure her. My initial series of complaints finally led to an investigation with dismissals and the hiring of additional staff, but the problem shortly reoccurred. We finally relocated Mom to a "home based" Assisted Living facility that houses a maximum of 15 residents per home. The care is outstanding, the facility is spotless without any displeasing odor and the residents are HAPPY. Mom is finally clean and well cared for.
